Wonderful staff and food was amazing. Large portions great for brunch!!
Delicious vegetarian food and service
The miso glazed aubergine starter was the highlight of the meal. Amazing! Great wine and a good price, and our waiter was lovely. Would certainly return.
The food was very good here and I would recommend trying this vegetarian restaurant. The service unfortunately lets it down. When we arrived and ordered a drink at the bar, we were left waiting for 20 minutes until a drink was given to us. I appreciate that it was very busy in there but wonder whether more staff may be required? The value of the food was fair and what you would expect for London prices and the ambience could be even better if tables were a little more spaced apart.
Hi there, Thanks for your feedback. It's great to hear that you enjoyed the food but I'm very sorry to hear you thought the service was slow enough to let the evening down! These are not the standards we usually expect. Please do drop us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org om with more details so we can follow this up and hopefully convince you to give us another try! Kind regards, NK
I wasn’t focused on the food!
Good food, nice place, will go again
I really enjoy going to The Gate & use this branch quite a lot to meet friends. The food was delicious as always. My only minor complaint this time is that I had the shiitake goyza for the first time & although it was yummy I had bought the portion size was very small for the money. Whereas my friend had the beetroot burger & she had so much food on her plate! Mine was very pretty to look at but I needed a bit more for the price.
Great food beautifully presented and delicious. Our waitress could have been more knowledgable and more enthusiastic, she seemed a bit fed up, which was a shame as the food was exceptional.
A little on the expensive side, but definitely worth every penny.
Had my wedding breakfast here, then came a month later to celebrate our anniversary and it's just superb. Everyone who was there loved the food and most were non-vegetarians. Looking forward to trying their boozy lunch specials too!
Great service, wonderful food. Thank you!
Great, as always. The beetroot burger is phenomenal (this is coming from a non-vegetarian). We went with some family, all of whom eat meat and they were all really surprised at how tasty everything is. We also had some organic Montepulciano wine which was very good.
As usual: outstanding, delicious vegan food with lots of creativity... and terrible service from start to finish. I'll always go but it's seemingly an exercise in patience and shouldn't be for the price.
Excellent selection of vegetarian and vegan meals. The people I was with did not mind the absence of meat, this is not a hair-shirt vegan restaurant. Good food, well prepared. I had to give the service two stars as it was the waitresses first day, perhaps this is unfair. However, her training was not complete and did not include how to open a bottle of wine with a waiter's friend. Fortunately I have opened one or two bottles of wine myself in the past and we struggled through. I will go back :)
Excellent vegetarian food, full of flavour. Friendly and quick service
Foods as always was tasty & well-presented. The waitress was a little surly she needs to smile and be a bit more friendly!
Great food at reasonable prices, every wine I have had her has also been excellent. I highly recommend the beetroot burger. Service has always been a bit sketchy. Last time I was there we had to keep asking for food/water/bill and there was a mixup because one of our main courses was not ordered. This time everything was fine except that we waited 45 mins after finishing our main course for someone to come (we were going to get a dessert) but in the end we went to the bar to pay and just left. Not too bad, but a little disappointing.
Such a welcome change to go to a proper veggie restaurant. The pre theatre menu is good value and served up quickly. Only complaint is the 330m bottle of Becks cost a fiver. We have just bought a case of 24 for £24 so a pound a bottle. In that the Gate must buy bulk for cheaper that is a big mark up!
First time at The Gate and what a nice surprise. The food was fresh and delicious with lots of options to chose from. We were not sure about the food as vegetarian restaurant can be sometimes quite limited in choices and quality but The Gate exceeded our expectations. We will go back.
Superb food pre theatre. So it was extremely busy, staff working really hard but very helpful. Very impressed, we will be back
A delightful experience shared with friends. Great menu, lovely service and friendly atmosphere. Very close to Sadler's Wells and a wonderful start to our evening.
The food was excellent as were the drinks. As the restaurant filled it did become rather noisy which made conversation a little difficult. But I suppose it was no worse than most places. We have been before and will certainly be going again!
A mistake on billing was not handled well but this would not put me off from returning
Post ballet. Very prompt service. Good very tasty but I had asked for no guacamole with my tortillas and had to send back as had. Was a bit stodgy. But overall v good. Would def go again.
It was lunch with an old friend. We went for the anniversary 3 course menu. Delicious food and good price.
my Fried Tofu entree and Lavender pannacotta were delicious, 5 star. The Tagine, potato stack, burger and mag cheesecake average, 3 stars. We went for the set menu but after leaving the restaurant we realised they charged us more! I don't even have the bill with me to rectify. hope this helps someone else by being more careful. The ambience was lovely and quiet. The staff attentive.
Excellent Quality & Original. Will definitely come back.
Didn’t expect vegetarian to be a zero compromise taste experience. Aubergine starter and tortilla main divine. Rest of group concurred on their choices. Will return!
Inventive and interesting menu - lovely friendly service - did not stay for pudding as thought them overpriced. The fixed price lunch menu was good value and they allowed us to swap a soft drink for coffee which was excellent.
Really wonderful options for vegan dining. The perfect place to celebrate with your friends and family. The food was delicious.
This has fast become a favourite for birthday celebrations with friends. The food is both interesting and very good. After quite a few visits we haven't had a disappointing dish, let alone a disappointing meal! Looking forward to my next visit, later this week!
Chose this for my vegetarian mums birthday. Not veggie myself was ready to manage my expectations, but didnt need to the food was fantastic, fresh, tasty, good portions and decent variety. Decor of the restaurant itself was bright and airy, buzzing atmosphere. Would definitely come back again. Totally recommend it
High expectations but poor quality food. Good Service
Lovely restaurant and the food is delicious.
Wonderful vegetarian restaurant with great choices for us vegans. Very pleasant ambiance; a real fire was lit, very nice. Great food and drinks. Chilli margarita was top notch. Wish I lived nearer to this great restaurant; I’d be here every week
It was our second outing to a vegetarian restaurant so slightly dubious. There was no need. Great food at a reasonable price service great, staff attentive without being intrusive, hubby loved it and he is hard to please. I have already recommended to a friend.
Amazing place. Great food. Fabulous staff. Have just completed my 20th trip.
One of the best for vegans in the UK and my meat eating partner gave the thumbs up too
A firm favourite vegetarian restaurant a few mins from Sadlers Wells theatre and Angel tube station. They need a change of menu as I have had the same meal 3 times now! Pity they don’t take opentable d8ning cheques.
Service was OK. Could have offered more bread with the terrine.
Food is good as usual.
