The George Inn
All pretty average, food was ok, except for the onion rings which were greasy & not very nice. Service was very slow
Booked a table for four on a Saturday lunchtime. Very pleasant experience, food was very nice and staff were polite and helpful. Will recommend to others
Lovely place to eat. Staff happy and helpful. Food delicious and have already booked in 20 people for a birthday celebration shortly!
Lamb shank unfortunately not available otherwise it would have been 5/5.
We had to wait a very long time for our food. 2 courses over 2.5 hours. We arrived before the rush. The food was poor. A mixture of dishes: steak (£23.50) for an over cooked sirloin. Chips and onion rings were good. Broccoli and potato soup was tasteless and too hot to eat. Fish pie was dry and bland. The fish cakes came with too much hollandaise sauce and when combined with the creamed spinach it was too rich. No potatoes received either, even though ordered.
We ate here a few years back and it was very nice and suspect it may have changed hands. A real shame and we will not be returning.
Good homemade food, lovely friendly staff and a really nice atmosphere.Would recommend and will be going again!
Excellent service and food
Ambience was very good
Food came very quickly even though they were busy
Lovely lively but homely pub.
Would prefer more vegetarian choices on the menu- I had 2 choices only as the halloumi had run out! The dish I did have was delicious though.
Visited The George with friends and could not have been made more welcome. Food was excellent and the service cheerful and friendly. Although it was a busy Saturday evening we did not have to wait long for food and will definitely be eating there again!
Easy to book and welcoming, but food only ok.
Children’s fishfinger , hard to find the fish.
We had a fantastic meal here, very attentive staff and food is really tasty with a good selection.
Lovely Inn, stayed overnight with our grandson. Staff really friendly. Meal was nice, my grandson got the best deal, his rib eye steak looked lovely. However, our sirloins were a bit overdone for rare and dry.
We had a lovely meal at The George Inn on Saturday night. The atmosphere is relaxed and cosy. The service was prompt and friendly. The menu was extensive and the food was delicious. We would visit again without hesitation and would recommend The George Inn.
We had the steak and ale pie which had lots of beef and tasty gravy. I ate all of it. Vegetables nicely cooked and fries generous.
Chicken breast was perfectly cooked with a pleasant accompanying sauce.
The food was lovely and the pub has a great atmosphere. The service was both friendly and efficient, what more could you want.😀
Service & Food great. Pleasant staff. No signal on your phone (but they have free WiFi )
Nice food choices, plenty of seating space and a good choice of ale
Very friendly staff with good food reasonably priced.
Excellent food, drink & service. Only downside was the fire alarm going off partway through meal! Not the pubs fault though, a fellow diners mishap! Will certainly visit again.
Great food and service
Very nice place for families to eat.
Food very good and not too expensive
Food was amazing albeit our little girls burger was over done so she didn’t eat it. Chicken nuggets were great for my boy. I had braised Lamb and my hubby had plaice and they were both amazing. The service was fab and the atmosphere was just very inviting. If I hadn’t needed to drive home I would have loved to have stayed much longer. Maybe next time we will stay at their hotel. Also loves that they had family games, board games to play
We went to the George on Saturday had a gorgeous lunch I would recommend all the food lovely service lovely staff
Six of us met at the George for a family lunch. Plenty of parking space. Welcoming atmosphere. We had reserved a table and were shown to a nice room just off the bar. Varied menu choices suiting all ages. Our grandchildren were well catered for not only with the food but also games etc to keep them amused. Food was well cooked and nicely presented.
Outside is a lovely area with tables, children's playground and a stream with wildlife to keep everyone amused. Well recommended.
Excellent food and a great choice. Can get very busy so booking recommended. Only disappointment was lack of Choi for gluten free desserts.
Couldn’t fault anything. Food, ambience and staff amazing
The food came out quickly and all together however the battered fish was over cooked the chips were a strange texture and my curry was dry as there was not enough sauce with it...the flavour was there though. Overall it was passable food.the place itself is nice and has a nice atmosphere and outdoor eating area. The cutlery was nice and clean and the table was set nice. Improvement needed on the food though.
Overall a very good lunch even though it was extremely busy. A little confusion over the vegetarian meal but it was resolved quickly, efficiently and in a friendly way. Overall would come again
First visit and thoroughly enjoyed it. Food tasty with good service. Outside garden furniture needs replacing/repair. Would visit again.
Vegan option was cooked in butter and caused someone the very quickly have a bad stomach
A warm, friendly and relaxing atmosphere. Consistently good.
We enjoyed our visit to “The George”. We chose it as a mid-point to meet old friends. We all enjoyed our meal and the staff were great - friendly. It was good to sit in the sofas afterwards and chat over our cups of tea and coffee. We’ll be returning!
Enjoyable meal. Outside space looks nice, but was raining heavily so no chance to sample that.
Shocking, very surprised how poor this was from the pictures it looks like a beautiful local pub, firstly there are no curtains in the room, so as soon as the sun rises you are awake, they provide a blind but this let's in too much light as the option to close the blind was broken. The showers nearly work with the hot and cold so stiff a towel had to be used and two hands just to turn it up and down. I booked a table 6 weeks in advance for my partners birthday with and 8pm booking so a reasonable time to eat. We was shown to our table which was missing a chair so I had to stand for 5 minutes until one come free, then we was given a specials menu and the normal menu which both sounded lovely with good options for food. I decided to order a garlic and prawn start from the specials and a steak for the main. My partner ordered mushrooms as a starter and also the steak, when out order was placed we were told that the prawns had ran out, which is fair enough as its a special. So I asked for the bread selection, I was then told no balsamic vinger was avaliable so I could only have bread and olive oil, the mushrooms where also sold. We was then informed that there was no steaks the last one had been ordered. So out of a menu which consisted of 6 start options and 8 mains. 3 starters where sold out, and 3 mains where sold out. Leaving us both with no starters that we now liked, or any mains that we wanted. We had to pay 80 quid for a taxi into Bath for the next available place to eat that was not fully booked being a Saturday night! Extreamly dissopointed with the service, the food, the room and the overall stay I would not recommended this to anyone.
Friendly, helpful staff and good basic pub food at a good price. This is about the third time we have eaten here as it is a good halfway house between where we live and some friends. Although it would not stop us visiting again, we have found the initial wait for food quite long - 30-45 minutes - and this time we arrived at 6pm when the pub was pretty quiet. Would recommend to others.
Informal with a relaxed atmosphere. Friendly staff who when confronted with an unusual request were accommodating and courteous. The food is excellent, well worth a visit.
Food service superb took some friends and really enjoyed it
When our order arrived it was missing 2 side orders of new potatoes which I subsequently had to ask for. When they arrived they looked as though they had seen better days!
Although the table was booked there was no one to greet us and take us to a table. There was a 10 minute waiting time between one starter being served and then the other 2. The remaining 2 starters were only received on request by us and apology from waiter. There was then a 55 min wait for our main course. We ate as quickly as we could and left. We will not be going again.
It was a lovely day so we ate outside and the children were very happy in the play area and playing football in the grassy open space and football nets which made for an enjoyable meal!
