The Goring Dining Room
Bathed in natural light by day, or sumptuously aglow with custom Swarowski chandeliers at night, this restaurant has a special ambience to accompany the fine cuisine. Alongside an extensive wine and Champagne menu carefully selected by the Head Sommelier, the Bar & Lounge offers an irresistible cocktail list.
With a menu that boasts Romney Marsh lamb, glazed lobster omelette, Scottish halibut and Beef Wellington, The Dining Room offers inspiring, delectable British cuisine and an indulgent dessert menu to suitably round off lunch or dinner.
An excellent Valentine's dinner the choice of menu and wines were of the highest standards
So good that I have already requested the same table for next year already
Very impressed with its ambiance and the level of service received.
Great decor inside and food was absolutely delightful, recommend it to anyone who wants a fancy night out.
Also perfect for a important meetings with clients as the noise level is quite low.
I will be definitely coming back!
well where to start
the dining room was empty when we went for dinner on Sunday. just 2 tables in the restaurant featuring rather loud Americans. then the starter came where my partner found a massive piece of crab shell in the starter. the beef wellington was rather good however not enough sauce. this was followed by desert which they brought the wrong desert for myself which i had not ordered however they did replace it with the correct desert quite quickly. we were very disappointed in the whole experience and based on that experience i am not sure how in the world they have managed to receive a michelin star. i cook better food and provide a better atmosphere at a local pub i work for! the manager who took our order was not too helpful and rather unhelpfully suggested that if i was still hungry after my main course i could order some extra potatoes! I was trying to assess whether the wellington split between 2 people would be enough for 2 fairly hungry people otherwise i may have had an alternative main course.
They did discount some wine from the bill and removed the service charge which is just as well because otherwise there would of been completely no value in the meal what so ever.
Service was lacking, atmosphere was lacking and most definitely the standard of the food was just not as good as we were expecting. to find a rather large bit of crab shell in our eggs drumkilbo when cooking aT this standard is actually unforgivable. we will most likely never go back.
Some of their Staff where not so nice. Others are. We left to use there other room.
Whilst the food was tasty, service was appalling. It was my birthday and I am gluten and lactose intolerant. My husband contacted ThebGoring the night before and was told that everything was fine. First i was told if I wanted GF bread I would need to wait. Next I asked for a Pinot Grigio and they only had Rose. It was suggested I try Pinot He is, which I did. It was too dry so I asked if I could look at the wine list and choose another. I did this but had to wait half an hour before anyone noticed I was trying to get their attention. By the time I had my wine my husband had almost finished his drink. Next I went through the menu thoroughly and chose a starter of salted beetroot with ewes cheese and BlackBerry jus. It arrived minus the ewes cheese. When I eventually got hold of a waiter he said I couldn't have it as it was made from milk and I was lactose intolerant. I was not amused. Eventually I got the cheese. My next course was the Dover sole which was very cold. By this time I wanted to eat up and go. My husband had roast beef which should have come with mustard and horseradish sauce. They forgot the mustard. We found a wziter who said it would be there immsdiately but it arrived 20 mins later. Needless to say my husband had almost eaten his meal. Lastly the dessert. I looked at the menu, absolutely nothing for Gluten free. Then one of the waiters said i could have the lemon cake only to come back later saying it had lactose in it. Eventually I was offered sorbet. Immediately after in was given a very tiny slice of chocolate cake, apparently gluten free with a candle.
It was very disappointing as last year I took my husband to the Savoy Grill and everything was fantastic. Once I sat down we were asked which one of us was gluten free and I was immediately offered some Gf bread and a totally Gf menu. Fantastic.
My birthday this year was marred by their inattentiveness and although we were seated at 12.45 we were the last to leave the restaurant at 3pm. I do r
A more traditional British restaurant with very attentive service and a warm ambiance. The food is well prepared but not as finely prepared as I expected from a Michelin restaurant. The meal is priced reasonably but drinks and wine are more expensive than other comparable restaurant. Overall fine though not outstanding.
Very good food, excellent service and a very beautiful bar , all in an elegant and british atmosphere.
Excellent venue, great food and very accommodating services. We went for my son’s birthday breakfast and all had a great time. We will definitely return with friends.
Service was unusually slow. Not the first time I’ve dined there. Took 30 minutes to get a drink! Food absolutely fabulous and as expected! I just hope it was an off evening with regard to service as I will return.
I had an excellent dinner The service was first class and the food very good. My guest also very much enjoyed dinner.
Overall experience- fabulous 10/10
Food was superb, the service was patchy. Not up to the usual quality of this hotel.
First class service late on a Sunday evening. Well done! Peter
One of the bests in London.
Excellent service, food and friendly staff!
Amazing choice of wine
Food was amazing
Fabulous in every way.
Had dinner in the main restaurant with three friends as a birthday treat. From the initial welcome to the final goodbye everything was perfect. Had the set menus which on this occasion included a complimentary glass of champagne, always a good start! Service was impeccable, food wonderful and we were thoroughly spoilt. The birthday girl had an amazing time. The staff managed the correct amount of class with the right degree of friendliness. Only negative was that we could only get a late table 9.15pm which meant that we could not have a drink in the bar after our meal, as the bar closes at 12pm. Sadly this meant we had to visit another establishment for a night cap as after 12pm only residents allowed to be served. Would visit again for a treat.
My favourite lunch time venue in London - elegant, unobtrusive service and first class ambience.
4 breakfasts at the hotel!
Have eaten here many times in the past but this was the first under its new guise. It didn’t disappoint. A genuinely flawless experience all round. Food is actually quite innovative without feeling contrived. Professional service standards amongst the best anywhere. A beautiful room and well spaced, comfortable seating. Will definitely be returning.
I was disappointed by the snobbishness of the service, i.e., in view of the price tag attached to the beautifully presented but only slightly above average food. I had a good mushroom risotto, very common john dory, and to die for lemon pudding and ice-cream. Since the main dish is THE main, I rate my experience based on that. My guests had a greasy lobster omelette and very ordinary beef roast, for mains. Sorry, Goring dining room, but you need to improve on impartial treatment of customers and main dishes. In this order. Thank you.
What a beautiful place, top marks from start to finish.
Excellent service, we were late for our seating, however they made a way to serve us and after we ordered we were not rushed out at all, food size waa small but very filling and tasty .
Another wonderful lunch at this most discreet, restaurant. Superb service and food.
Went on recommendation from website. The restaurant was beautiful and the service was excellent. I was a little disappointed in the meal. I had a three course meal. While the food was prepared to perfection, the portion sizes were very small, I was still hungry when I left. At 75 British Pounds I would expect a little more
My mother was visiting and I had booked a few places to visit to ensure she had a good trip. We had an absolutely disastrous dinner at Wright Brothers the previous evening, embarrassingly awful so I was hoping The Goring would erase those memories and wow did it. The hotel and dining room are beautiful, the service was second to none and the food excellent. From the moment we arrived we were looked after by the staff who were friendly, informative and attentive but discreet. The tables are nicely spaced and formally laid out with sparkling glassware and crisp white tablecloths. The lunch is remarkable value for the quality of the food. Starters of truffle risotto and foie gras were both delicious, attractive and full of flavour. Rack of lamb was perfectly cooked and seasoned and paired with sweetbreads and nicely spiced aubergine. The cheese trolley was fantastic and had a lovely selection of British cheeses all perfectly kept. A lovely meal, that we will repeat.
What more can I say. I have been eating at the Goring for several years and each time I love it more. One of my favourite places. The food was excellent and the waiter was more than helpful. He was also able to tell us about the history of the Goring. One place I will never stop eating at. A bit on the expensive side but well worth the visit.
Our experience at The Goring was strange in as much the first two courses were superb. Excellently prepared and served, and tasted lovely. However, the dessert course was a totally different experience. We had lunch and our booking extended into the afternoon tea session and the waiting staff concentrated on this. Consequently we waited a good time to order our dessert and after three reminders we eventually received our dessert. Our order for coffee never did arrive. It was a shame that the service on the last course and coffee marred which would have been a great lunch. Furthermore, when we raised the issue with the maitre de, his only comment was that the afternoon tea was a "celebration".
A very poor excuse!
We had the set lunch menu which is relatively expensive but the food is of the highest quality using expensive ingredients. We had lovely truffle risotto as starter, John Dory with a champagne clam sauce for our mains followed by a wonderful Black Forest gateaux and Eton Mess. There were no canapés or pre desserts. The food was beautifully cooked and presented. We had a French Sauvignon Blanc with our meal which was reasonably priced. The service was acceptable although we did wait too long for our desserts. However, the restaurant itself was rather bland and half empty which was disappointing. We had to sit and have our desserts and coffees whilst setting up for the afternoon teas. We were not offered a cheese course either and felt as if we had to hurry to leave.
In london as english breakfast.
A true gem in the heart of London.
A very special place rarely seen these days.
They deserve a second Michelin without hesitation!
My first visit to the Goring, the food was superb. Service very good, in beautiful surroundings. The staff were very attentive to detail which made dining that even more special. i shall definitely go back there.
Excellent but limited menu Second time we were there and had a lovely dinner
In three weeks of traveling in Madrid, Porto and Lisbon, Portugal, and London, this was the best dinner my wife and I had.
We ordered new lamb in different types and preparations. Both were beautifully cooked, the garnishments spare to let the lamb carry the day. I splurged on foie gras; it disappeared on the tongue.
Our staff was nearby but never present; welcoming, knowledgeable, professional.
Great place for a quiet, un-rushed, business breakfast meeting.
We were staying in London for our wedding anniversary and decided to try The Goring Dining Room as it came recommended. I have to say that I've never sent food back to the kitchen twice but I had to do this at The Goring when they served poorly cooked lamb which was so tough that you couldn't get a knife to cut through it - obviously no-one was checking the quality of the cooking that evening. The waiter seemed bemused about the situation and had to refer to the maitre'd. Eventually it was rectified but the whole experience spoilt our evening and we declined further courses and we were just glad that we han't chosen to eat there on our actual anniversary. It was very disappointing.
