The Green Room
Sunday: 11am -6pm
Sunday 21st January 12noon-11pm
Friday 30th March 12noon-8pm
Great place, but very overpriced for what it is. £7.50 (if memory serves me correctly) for starter of some raw veg, small pot of humus and some cold flatbread is a bit much. The burgers at an average of £15+ were tasty and good quality, but small. Great location and staff though.
The perfect spot for supper before going to the theatre, but I'm sure it would also be a place for a more leisurely casual meal too, especially when the weather is good. Very friendly and efficient service which is what you need when you are under a time constraint. Good burgers. Fun atmosphere helped by the sunshine.
Nice spot to sit outside. The barman took a shine to us and gave us a G&T on the house. Great venue pre National Theatre
Loved the food. Simple and tasty. Really liked the desserts. Value for money
Good vegetarian options, lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff
Convenient pre show venue for the National Theatre.
Great location when going to the National Theatre. A good selection on the menu.
The Green Room has the best chocolate chip cookie (offered as choc chip cookie and milk dessert for two) in London if not worldwide! Have taken several to try it and so far no one is disappointed.
I love the Green Room. So does everybody I take there. Great location and atmosphere also fabulous choices for vegetarians, vegans and gluten free diners (the reason I will keep returning). Keep it up!
Great lunch location for a catch up with family and friends.
We had two burgers and chips ( one vegetarian burger) and one cider. The bill paid was £37.00. Its expensive for simple food. The service is excellent but not value for money.
Always a good place to get some good food before heading to the National Theatre!
Friendly staff and a good burger with a glass of wine or two. Wine list was pretty limited to new world.
We've been here quite a few times recently before going to the BFI and it's always been an enjoyable start to our night. The food was ok but service on this occasion was pretty poor - you got the impression they were maybe a bit short staffed - unopened bottle of wine plonked on the table, really slow, no water top-ups and our food was only just warm thanks to sitting under heat lamps for 5 minutes.
We'll book again as it's a great location and usually a good atmosphere but it'll probably be the last time if there's a repeat performance of last Friday!
Good place for informal pre-theatre dining. Toilets let down the experience - felt ‘unfinished’ and they could’ve been cleaner.
Our waitress Jessica, who was the only waitress working, was AMAZING.
Very limited gluten free options and disappointing that they were shutting early and kept reminding us.
Lovely location, helpful and friendly service. Great that dogs are welcome. Food was very tasty but quite limited for vegetarians on the mains unless you love BBQ flavour!
Great location for the National Theatre. A simple but great menu, my husband particularly enjoyed the hot dog.
Perfect for a pre theatre dinner if you are seeing a show at the National Theatre.
We thought the Green Room was a really good alternative to eating in the National Theatre. It had a lively, buzzy ambience. Unfortunately, the table next to us was a birthday party and it was just TOO noisy. We asked to go near the window, but the folding doors let in a gale, which the staff tried to ameliorate with sticky tape. Our pork belly was not hot enough, but the staff were good and said next time we are there, to remind them and they would give us complimentary drinks. The food was acceptably average, but the staff were great and efficient.
My second visit to the Green Room but very disappointing. We went for a pre-theatre meal and as we arrived so did a party of about 20 people. We told the waitress we would like to order before the party did as our time was limited. Our starters came promptly and were very nice. The party did not order starters and we had to wait until all their dishes had been served, in fact we had to ask for our main courses. When they arrived my veggie burger was cold and my companions beef burger was over cooked. We were offered replacements but did not have enough time to wait again so they took the drinks off the bill, which was fair. I don't think we'll be returning in a hurry.
Busy Saturday evening. Sadly a few items had run out but what we did eat and drink was good
Nice enough place, but don’t open on 27th December if you don’t have any ingredients! The duck, the salmon, the pumpkin pie was not available - leaving one option for non meat eaters.
Not very good.
Good food, good service good location and prices you’d expect from this type of restaurant in this area (certainly not cheap but not extortionate either). Great for a pre-theatre tipple or nosh.
A bit disappointing. Expensive for what it is. Turkey burger was gristly and deep fried. Wine very pricey.
Birthday dinner. Everything was amazing. From the food to the service provided. The style of the restaurant was relaxed ambient so it was quite an enjoyable experience. It's opened my eyes for such restaurants as The Green Room. Definitely recommend
Just across the plaza from The National Theatre, The Green Room, provides delicious food with an eye on the clock. We made it to our curtain perfectly on time, even though the weather was filthy and every kind of transportation was delayed. Treat yourself to the chips. They are divine!
Food is good quality if not terribly exciting.
Great food and charming service. Perfect pre-theatre.
Great service. Tasty food. A little pricey on the prosecco but it was lovely.
Staff were very welcoming and helpful with kids' slightly awkward eating habits. Fine food, thank you.
Sunday evening pre-theatre meal.
Chicken wings and calamari both delicious.
I was told the burger was decent.
The salmon burger was weird. A reconstituded patty heavily seasoned with chives and onions, which didn't really taste like salmon. Not horrible... just not as delicious as a salmon burger seemed on the menu.
Peach Melba desert was well received.
Mint tea was, sadly, from a teabag.
Staff really nice.
Had a friend visiting from Hong Kong who had not tried English beer - so the staff very kindly gave her some samples to choose from. Above and beyond.
Usually love this place, today decidedly mediocre. Reheated vege burger, oily chips. Disappointed
Myself and my friends meet here fairly regularly - very handy, casual dinner spot near Waterloo. Can be a little on the noisy side as there are high ceilings but generally enjoyed by all (especially the burgers!)
Had a tasty pre-theatre dinner on the outside terrace. On such a lovely sunny evening, the food was a great compliment. We shared delicious calamari to start with. The crayfish macaroni was a large portion and very tasty. My husband had the salmon caesar salad, which he also enjoyed. I would recommend the ambience here for outside dining during the summer.
nice easy going place with a simple but intetesting menu and good staff
I like this place and only rated it low because on the night the service was poor and they were down one in the kitchen.
These things happen and they did try to make amends so I will go back.
This was a great evening with an interesting menu; not just run of the mill. It was fairly noisy, but the atmosphere was lively and vibrant. Service was excellent. We were overcharged at the end, but this seems to happen everywhere these days, so just check your bill!
