Quality food, quality wines, attentive staff, nice pub and good value.
Excellent food and service. Great value for money.
This is my second visit and it won’t be the last!
We visited on Sunday afternoon and from the minute we walked in we knew we were going to be impressed. We were shown to a really lovely positioned table in a cosy area of the restaurant. And were approached really promptly for a drinks order which was very welcome!. And we were impressed by the menu . We all decided to order Sunday Roasts. Myself and my husband had chicken and my daughter had beef. All 3 meals were absolutely delicious. Beef was cooked perfectly and the portions were really generous. There is a great ambiance and the staff were so friendly and welcoming . We can not wait to return . Thank you to all at the Greene oak for making our Sunday so lovely.
Good Sunday lunch. Ice busy atmosphere. Good service and good value. The food could have been a little warmer
Lovely roast in a very pleasant environment with excellent service,
By far the most interesting menu in our area and the service was fabulous.
Delicious meal, quite unusual items on menu, very interesting choice of fish on the set menu. Not your usual lemon sole/plaice/cod. Very good value set menu for lunch. I'll definitely be back again!
Fantastic Service,Food & Value
Really great find. Cracking food. Real value for money
Pleasantly surprised by the very good service and excellent food.
Lovely food and lovely people - busy for a Wednesday night but top notch service and with a smile. Highly recommended.
Lunch for two was a wonderful first time experience. The welcome was warm and efficient, the seating comfortable and spacious. I chose the mussels, my friend chose the risotto with hake and both were incredibly tasty, fresh and beautifully cooked. We had crumble and sticky toffee pudding for dessert and again both dishes were excellent. The house red was a delight and I would highly recommend a visit to The Greene Oak. I shall certainly be back!
No real problems with the meal.
Reported that we had been overcharged for 3 coffees when the two of us only had 2 coffees.
No email response as yet.
A Sunday roast is best at midday when the food has just been cooked, not at 17:30 when we sat down, the food had been kept warm.
Best roast in the local area, quite literally different gravy! Very attentive staff and a great meal, would recommend.
Lovely place for a Sunday lunch with family. Really good with our 2yr old and the food was delicious. Cody atmosphere. Perfect for a special Occassion
Had a wonderful atmosphere as we arrived - although busy
Staff were very attentive - we thoroughly enjoyed soup, artichokes and steak tartare for starters - hake, gurnard fir mains were delicious . Definitely will return
Fantastic Sunday lunch with family, great atmosphere, superb staff and great food.
Really delicious food and friendly service
The food and service were great. The restaurant was very busy when we visited and there was a party so the noise level was a bit loud which is expected.
Great value and varied Lunch Menu. Tables well spaced. Excellent service.
We liked being in the far right wood-panelled room - the tables were well spread out and our table was not at all cramped.
The staff were all very attentive and very pleasant.
The menu was varied and even though not extensive there was enough variety to provide something for all tastes and preferences. My only slight request on the menu would be to have a cold option as a dessert - something like a pannacotta maybe - as all the desserts were hot I believe (not sure about the chocolate one but I don't like chocolate!) and many people prefer a cold 'something' after a meal. But everything else was excellent with some unusual items on the menu.
We had a delicious 3 course meal with excellent service.
Lovely food, professional, prompt service.
Lovely fish and pumpkin dishes
We went to The Greene Oak for our anniversary on a Monday lunch time for the lunch set menu, 2 courses for £18 (3 course for £21), which was very good value for a restaurant that is on the Michelin Guide, and the only one that opens on Monday in nearby location.
The service was outstanding, as I asked the waitress to recommend me a red wine to go with my main course and she brought 2 glasses with decent amount for me to try to see which I preferred before serving me a full glass. She also checked with us after/during each courses to see if the food was okay.
For starters my husband thought the Beef Tartare was a bit plain, although they brought Tabasco sauce and some other sauces when they served it, but he didn’t use it. My Cod tongues and Cheeks on toast was very flavoursome, the sauce has so much flavour, and the cod was very meaty. For the main course, my husband ordered a cheese burger, which was quite standard. I ordered Shepherd’s Pie and cutlet, the pie didn’t have the pastry, just the potato mash on top of more like shredded lamb rather than mince, the cutlet was good, however the gravy sauce was slightly saltier. For dessert, we ordered sticky toffee pudding with ice cream, and chocolate fudge cake with salted caramel ice cream. The sticky toffee pudding was so good, sponge was soft and moist, toffee sauce was really tasty. The chocolate fudge cake was slightly dry, but the salted caramel ice cream balanced it out. They have also written message on one of the dessert plate as per our request, thank you for doing that for us.
The atmosphere was good, our side of the room only had 4 tables of customers in total so it was quiet most of the time, but unfortunately the couple sat next to our table was playing “snap” the card game after they’d finished eating, and shouted snap really loud, kind of ruined the good atmosphere. Glad they left after we have finished our main course, so had some quiet time for dessert. Would recommend this place and return again.
Food was great service was great but was a little bit noisy
We loved our food but were disappointed to be seated outside on this very damp day. We had booked inside the bar area and had to adjust our arrival time. Despite agreeing to shorten our stay we had no option to eat outside. The service was very friendly though amd will try to go back (inside!).
Great menu choice & absolutely delicious food. Really is something for everyone. We came for Sunday lunch & will definitely be back. Make sure you book as they were super busy.
The service was very rushed. Just finished our table nibbles, when the starters arrived, previous plates hadn’t even been cleared. The whole meal was complete in under an hour. Food was really nice, but was spoilt as it was just so rushed.
The Greene Oak has a much improved menu. The mussels are outstanding and the hake and scallops are very good. When busy, as most weekends, it can be a bit noisy so get a table in a corner. Staff are friendly and efficient although service can be slow at busy times.
Unfortunately we were sat next to a group of ladies having the Champagne bottomless brunch. Noise levels were intolerable and we spent the afternoon having to shout to make ourselves heard therefore left with sore throats & headaches. We were in a side room off the main restaurant and really this should have been occupied solely by the ladies. The food was nice and service was good however we shall choose somewhere else to meet with our friends in the future.
I met my little sister and her family after 2 years here so I was preoccupied and did not thank the staff. They were very discreet and brilliant service. We found the menu slightly confusing as it was rather upmarket. But all in all a great meeting place and lovely staff and ambience.
Lovely restaurant, great lunch time set menu.
Always a good experience at The Greene Oak with creative and tasty dishes. The lunch set menu is great value too. Had a wonderful afternoon catching up with friends in a very relaxed environment.
A dinner to celebrate an anniversary and we had a superb evening. Such a lovely atmosphere ti enjoy some superb food.
Can’t fault it and can’t wait to return
The food is excellent!
We were a party of 4 adults for dinner - 3 courses. In advance, we asked about allergens, as one of our party cannot eat gluten. We were delighted to receive a very helpful email with guidance on the gluten-free food available. This continued on the night, with helpful advice. Thank you.
The food was delicious. Not cheap. Same for the wine - delicious but not cheap.
The service was excellent and the food arrived at just the right times. We felt relaxed and welcome and thoroughly enjoyed the evening.
Dining area at lunch time was so noisy that we could not have a tolerable discussion. Service was prompt and food as expected from previous visits. What a pity that we could not really recommend this again
Absolutely fantastic food and service in a lovely non pretentious pub setting
This was my second visit for the set menu at lunchtime. It’s a great varied menu with options for 2 or 3 courses. The food was all delicious and we had really great service. Can highly recommend the cod cheeks
