Food and service were both impeccable with really nice wine included with the lunch set menu which makes it good value.
Complementary small dishes were given when we ordered a glass of champagne each which was a lovely touch.
If you like good food you must book The Greenhouse, we have been to a few Michelin starred restaurants and this has to be in the top 3! We had the tasting menu with wine pairing and the young Sommelier was great too, very informative, couldn’t really fault any aspect of it.
Had a great night there with amazing food and good service. Love the wine recommendation always the best.
This restaurant has a warm and elegant atmosphere. Extremely pleasant and helpful staff. The food is delicious - with a lot of thought and creativity. Two of our party of six were vegetarians and one was a pescatarian. One person did not eat garlic. They happily accommodated everyone's individual requests.
We had a delightful evening.
Exqusite and amusing presentation. Canapes included gazpapcho in a delicious soft crust, caesar salad in a cornet.
The portion of foie gras a little small. And the meat was ever so slightly tough.
And you are guided by helpful advice throughout by solicitous staff.
As another reviewer noted, the prices are eye-watering, but the service and the timing of the tasting menu are impeccable as you would expect from a 2 Star establishment. The tasting menu was delicious and inventive even if we were a bit ready for the check by the time course 9 arrived. The Breton sommelier was charming and very friendly and attentive and we appreciated his service very much!
Delicate food and experience, but the portion is quite small.
Wonderful, exciting and inventive food. Fabulous service and a fantastic experience.
We have had the pleasure of having vegetarian tasting menus in many restaurants around the world such as London, Paris, Dublin, Sydney and Granada - this is by far the best. The variety in taste, texture, and presentation were beyond expectations. The wine pairing was equally sublime with the sommelier being one of most articulated and exact - in equal measure.
Excellent value for money, £40 3-course lunch with canapés before and after the meal, and we asked for additional bread, and we got coffee. The food was very good, though I did feel that it didn't really fit the 'Greenhouse' theme as well as the ambience did. Very nice place for lunch, will come back for dinner at some point.
Amazing place, outstanding food and lovely staff
Highly recommend and look forward to go back
Amazing food , attentive but extremely discreet staff - extensive wine lists with some real gems from various countries - subtle surroundings
Always a pleasure. The best thing is consistency at a high level.
Astonishing set lunch with gastronomic amusements like burst in your mouth gazpacho, smoked eel in a blackened shell and caesar salad in a cornet.
The restaurant is in a difficult to find offstreet location of great elegance with fabulous sculptures by Emily Young.
This is great for a special occasion. They didn't have the 6 course menu on the weekend so they tailored a 9 course vegetarian one for me. Dinner was amazing and extensive wine list. Only thing I would say was that the courses were too far apart for our liking. We had a 7:30pm reservation and didn't finish till around midnight. That aside can't fault anything else at all. They even did a surprise birthday desert for my husbands birthday! Service was impeccable.
This was my first time visiting the Greenhouse and will not be the last. A very relaxed atmosphere attentive staff and great food, the wine list is extensive and a tad daunting.
The young French waitress that served our table was fantastic and helpful, she made honest recommendations, ( I was the first that evening to order the Grouse, it was fab) that proved to be the best for me.
The sommelier was superb, after my choice of white burgundy to accompany our starters, asked could he recommend the red for our main course, and it was a fabulous St Julien Bordeaux that didn’t break the bank
Top marks all round
Everything about this meal and the experience was totally fabulous. Expensive, but frankly you get what you pay for.
The Greenhouse is posh .. located in the heart of Mayfair and has two Michelin stars. Hidden away behind a mansion block and accessed along a winding garden path the entrance is unobtrusive, but promises hidden delights.
Our table for two was in a corner away from the windows but there is not much of a view in the semi-basement dining room. Decor is restrained but elegant.
Our set lunch - 3 courses and coffee - was priced at £40.00. Canapés were served quickly and consisted of a tasty spoon of tomato consommé, excellent smoked eel pate sandwiched between two dark wafers (seaweed probably) and a minute cornet of chicken something.
Starters were foie gras and a single scallop - both beautifully prepared and presented. Mains were perfectly cooked lamb with a superb lamb ragout and polenta side, and cod with peas and pea shoot side, potato and a very good consommé.
Puddings were fig or cheese
Bread and coffee/tea were good too.
Service was excellent as expected and the pacing was fine .. two hours passed very pleasantly indeed.
I had a glass of good house Sauvignon Blanc and with a bottle of still water the bill was about £110 including service. When we declined a second bottle of water our empty glasses were refilled with tap water without asking which was good.
I deliberately said a ‘single scallop’ as my only criticism is the portions could be small .. in fact the only generous portion was the sourdough bread. The lamb main was OK but the cod was small .. something the perfect cooking did not quite compensate. But I have dined here before and I will again. Recommended!
Exceptional lunchtime meal that offers great value, delivered with impeccable service.
Lots of unexpected flavour features that surprise and delight (the little gazpacho ball, the ‘secret’ ingredient in the ice cream, the subtle but intense tomato gel, the unctuous lamb flvoured polenta, etc etc).
Do not go for a quick lunch bit - that would be missing the point!
Very disappointing for a 2* restaurant. I believe the original chef has left and has not been replaced yet.
Food poor. Service only just adequate. Won’t be returning any time soon
Exceptional value for money set lunch with wine in a wonderful oasis in mayfair.
We were desapointed of the vegetarian tasting menu and used to frequent the 2 and 3 stars but there the portions were like appetizers and no cereal for a little consistency on the menu. Even the dessert was ridiculous. Fortunately we had some cheese .....
Hidden away in the Mews. Worth the search for fantastic food, impeccable service, exquisite wine-an experience not to be missed!
very good as usual!
the food quality and the mixed of flavours are amazing
Outstanding service and calm quiet atmosphere. Staff are friendly and unobtrusive.
Always a pleasure to dine at this restaurant. This was my second visit and I was made feel like a regular. Excellent meal and service from the staff and sommelier. Will definitely go back again for a third time!
Food was interesting nothing was great. Service was pleasant But at times intrusive. All in all worth a visit but not worth the expense
We like Greenhouse a lot. Its our great go to restaurant when we are in London with friends to show them a dining experience, Paris its Le Cinq - but we live in Melbourne Australia. We have been to Greenhouse 3 times in the last 3 years. Le Cinq more. We compare it to other London rated restaurants and are now going back there every time we are in London. We generally take the tasting menu. The wine list is very good but I concentrate on the French Burgundies White and Italian Red Super Tuscan. We did a taste off of Sassicaia 2005 I think and Antinori Solaia 2006 or 2008. They were both great but the Sassicaia won the day according to our friend. I called it a draw. Yep this is a complete tossers review. Very happy.
Slightly disappointed this time . Previously been to the greenhouse a couple of times but this time the service was poor . We waited over 45 mins just to receive a menu and the initial drinks took a while to come . Some parts of the menu are not changing ( or very little ) and whilst I appreciate the chef has his favourites ,variety and new experience is anticipated by some . Some of the additional supplements on the menu seem extreme and therefore slightly limit choice
Despite my comments I have a fondness for this place and would still return . Be prepared for a 300-600 spend for two
Food is amazing, touch of Japan with French would go again
An excellent restaurant in an extremely pleasant setting. Good food, good wine. Some excellent members of staff, but a few rather pretentious ones too.
The discovery menu is heavy going, and not really worth the £145 price tag. That said the food quality was very high. Wonderful ambience, well decorated and perfectly lit.
Overall a very enjoyable experience. People looking for value for money should look elsewhere, but for those looking for class, elegance and prestige, this place is a must visit.
Excellent meal with beautiful presentation of food.
Pretentious and expensive, with fancy rather tasteless food. The coffee was undrinkable.
Food was a little salty for my liking, but presentation and service was outstanding! The place was lovely and there was plenty of space between the tables.
Also if you are looking to drive there parking around there is mainly residents permit, so you’ll have park a few streets away and walk down.
Overall, was really delicious and they catered around things I don’t like eating, so that was a great surprise
Emabarissingly bad. Save your money and stay away from this “has been” place
I wanted to treat a friend I hadn't seen on a long time to a leisurely, elegant lunch. And this was perfect. The service was so attentive and kind, the recommendations appropriate and specific. And the set lunch would have been good value hadnwe not gone slightly overboard on champagne. The dishes were creative, particularly for a set lunch. It might have been a set lunch, but it offered a very good glimpse of what a more elaborate meal might have been. I intend to find out! A lovely, restful place. Élégant and sparse (gorgeous Bernardeau contemporary china) but not cold. Designed to feel like an oasis of a calm, and it works.
From walking through the door of the restaurant to leaving, the service and food was impeccable.
The restaurant never fails but to impress.
I arrived early and was warmly greeted by a lovely young lady which made me feel very much at home, though this is just my second visit.
I was at the Greenhouse with another good friend, also from Singapore to celebrate his birthday. We were both in Europe, for different reasons, but the stars were aligned to allow us to meet up for one evening in London. I took the opportunity to organize a surprise Birthday Dinner for him.
We had a wonderful evening with an excellent menu paired with two bottles of great wines, albeit with expert advice from the Sommelier Matthieu (I hope I got his name right). Matthieu made us feel very at home and well serviced.
Thank you very much for the memorable evening at the Greenhouse. I look forward to coming back to the Greenhouse when I next come to London.
Amazing in every way. Great value for money. #The food shows a great use of ingredients in the most professional way representing the season, service is smooth and attentive with poise.
THE MEAL WAS FANTASTIC
SERVICE WAS GREAT. I HOPE TO VISIT AGAIN
