The Greenhouse is one of only four restaurants in the world to win the Wine Spectator Grand Award, the highest award given for exceptional quality in a wine list.
Outstanding at every level. Amazing dining and service experience.
Amazing experience from start to finish, highly recommended. I can’t recall all the names but special thanks to the crew Melanie, Tyler, Dargan and of course chef Alex. ‘We’ll be back’
Went for a glass of champagne, the 9 course menu and wine pairing (for 2 people). Food was good but not extraordinary, same for wine (sommelier not really helpful though). The bill came ... almost £700. Definitely not worth it.
Innovative, wow-factor food. Lovely atmosphere, impeccable service and great wines. Highly recommended
very nice food and environment
Hidden away from prying eyes, you walk through a lovely courtyard to reach reception. From the outside the restaurant is understated, inside it is wonderfully calming.
The staff were outstanding, getting the balance of service and allowing us to enjoy ourselves perfectly.
We took the 9 course tasting menu, which was just right, and the sommelier worked with us to get our wines selection perfectly suited to our food
Nothing was too much trouble, it was calm, relaxing and high class
Do expect to pay for the experience - we knew that going into it, and were happy to do so
Highly recommended, we will be there again
Great for a special occasion, fantastic wine list.
Brand new team. Attentive service but very little interaction
My husband and I celebrated our 2 year wedding anniversary with a lunch at the Greenhouse, and we loved everything about our time there. The service was amazing, as was the food. The chef was incredibly inventive with all of the courses and we had a lovely time overall.
Beautiful presentation and very creative dishes. In my opinion, it is on its way to three star.
Excellent food, staff very attentive and a very relaxing, tranquil atmosphere. Only minor is that it was a little too quiet. Could have don't with some discreet, relaxing music or something in the background. Over all, an excellent place.
The food is beautifully presented but I wasn't surprised or challenged by the flavours.
Absolutely disgraceful. I regularly do fine dining and I am outraged that this place has two Michelin stars. They wouldn't get one star from me if I could award none with this review.
I came here for a lunch meeting today and this is what I have to say:
1. I was happy to be greeted by a welcoming receptionist and initially welcoming floor staff.
2. I was sat by the window in direct sunlight. No curtains or blinds and no way to move. By the end of the appetisers I was already hot enough to take off my jacket and roll up my sleeves. By the main course, I was visibly sweating and uncomfortable.
3. The wall behind my guest was heavily damaged from where the chair has been rubbing against it over time.
4. The floor staff were absolutely miserable and disrespectful.
5. I was offered tea and coffee at the end. I asked for a mocha and was rudely told that the restaurant was too good for this kind of drink. This is a very basic standard coffee with a lot of room for creativity... it contains coffee and it contains chocolate, many top end restaurants do fantastic mochas...
6. The bread was basically stale and served from a gigantic basket of cold bread buns. Furthermore, when I was asked if I liked the entremet, I pointed out that I was not a fan of the palate cleanser... to which I was rudely told "it's just meant to be a palate cleanser".
I'm afraid the floor staff ruined the better dishes and I'm really angry. It's not what I wanted and certainly not worth what I paid. There are far better restaurants with far better service - even without Michelin stars.
I've been a few times but this treat for 2 friends was well appreciated by us all. Excellent food and wine and wonderful service .
The food , service and room was fantastic , second to non in the city , unfortunately the offer booked was not honoured and I was charged for coffee which should have been included
Great place with excellent innovative and modern cuisine
Rather ‘old school’ classic Michelin-type restaurant....very professional, informed and attentive service, a charming location and food that ranges from good to ‘wow’ (for example, the Lobster in a Bouillabaisse Reduction).
the service is not at the level of a 2 stars Michelin restaurant for example my friend was eating one of the amuse-bouches when a server brought fork and knife for the entry, she had to stop and wait ; we were disapointed also by the Tasmanian truffle which was without any taste of truffle ... and the bread was not very good which is something that must be perfect for this kind of range of restaurant ; also the toilets were not that clean. well, we like to discover new star Michelin restaurants but there we were disappointed
Honestly we’re tourists and this was our the first time to have dinner in the Michelin restaurant. I had to say everything was brilliant except one of a course, which looked like two meat balls, we felt a little bit salty. The dessert was wonderful, especially the passion fruit jelly, my parents and I loved it! I can feel the chef’s intention, each course was tremendous delicacy. Thank you, all the staff.
I'm not sure if the restaurant still has the Michelin 2 stars, I wonder how they manage to maintain the stars!
Food was average no surprise at all, the best one out of 9 courses was actually a sushi but being taken apart with presentation, tasted the same though. The service was poor, at one point we had to pour the wine ourselves, and no one greeted us on the way out after the bill was paid, not very welcoming restaurant at all and I will not recommend it to anyone, bad experience and I will not come back!
World class cooking, a remarkable wine list both in breadth and depth, attentive but unobtrusive service and a discreet atmosphere that allows you to enjoy the food and your company without any showbiz. I love it. A little like Pied a Terre in style but quieter, more spacious and with the food up two notches I simply cannot understand why there isn’t a 3m waiting list with people waiting for the Oeuf Noir. The supplement for the tuna and caviar was sobering but the dish something else. And the ‘gazpacho’ in the amuse bouche were worthy of El Bulli. Wow.
Still the best restaurant in London in my book
Excellent food. Service needs a lot of work.
Wonderful cuisine and service, fantastic ambiance. We had a lovely meal that was elegant and delighted the tastebuds.
1. We had to ask for the a la carte menu despite this being on the website. We were initially only shown the 6 and 10 course tasting menus.
2. Food very ho hum, pretty but somehow devoid of texture - major use of artful arrangements but little substance. In particular a piece of turbot was curiously hard and salty (sous vide?)
3. There was a gap of 45 mins between our main course and pudding - possibly forgotten.
4. Decor tired and somewhat dated.
5. Old fashioned hierarchy of waiting staff.
There were some good things: staff were very nice and sweet. And we also got an unasked for dessert as it was our anniversary and I must have ticked some box when I booked!
Lovely venue , had the tasting menu for 2, food was great quality and in a timely manner. Couple of the colleagues came across a little arrogant which is why I’ve marked the service down and their jackets could’ve been cleaner.
They knew it was my partners birthday so brought out a little extra dessert for us! Very thoughtful and much appreciated
Really Excellent,as always. They are consistently very good
I have been visiting the Greenhouse for many years and have never failed to be impressed and very satisfied with the dining experience and will definitely be returning.
I orded the tasting menu. the food is very salty， especially the egg with sth like soy and the salty potatoes.
Simply did not enjoy this experience. Why allow you to make a booking for 6:30 pm when the restaurant is not prepared or open? Sat down at 6.55pm to have staff setting the table and loading candles on the table.
We found the two set menus, that is what you’re given, to be very limited. And why oh why is wagyu beef £75 supplement? Crazy.
Ordered a bottle of Chardonnay which when came was at room temperature, not chilled, and was told by a not particularly pleasant member of staff that it would take at least 10/15 minutes to chill in the ice bucket - great.
Whilst on the subject of the staff and I have to say this is the only way I can describe it, they all looked like they just attended a funeral.
Some of the courses were great some not so great. All in all it wasn’t hard to understand why on the Saturday evening the place was only 3/4 full.
Perhaps this was just an off-night but at these prices this type of restaurant should not be having off nights.
In short front of house was sadly lacking. We will not be returning.
We went there for my daughter‘s graduation dinner. We chose the 9 course starter dinner.
The service was extremely slow and inconsistent...there was more than a 60 minute wait before one course and then 3 courses within a very short period of time.
There were some hair in the truffle harp...when I pointed it out to the waitress she got flustered, mumbled “excuse me” and disappeared in the kitchen to come back a fair few minutes later with a new one...unfortunately the food over which the truffle shavings were supposed to go was cold by then...no question about replacing, no apologies.
We had to get the attention of a waiter several times during the evening to have our glasses refilled.
The food ranged from truly amazing (amuses bouches and desserts) to really bland (fish and seafood).
All in all a rather disappointing experience.
Everything was beautifully put together and presented, service slick and friendly, they let us see the kitchen, the lunch menu works out as great value. This was our second time there and will certainly not be our last!
Slow and irritatingly confused service. Dishes meant to be high cuisine but flavors blend hardly with each other. There was not really a single “wow” dish out of the 9 course set menu. Overuse of mousses and vinaigrette sauces. Bread was good but definitely not for such presumed high standard restaurant. At GBP 400 for two people, with four glasses of Champagne, I have eaten far better.
All the dishes are very sophisticated and well presented. Outlooks of dishes are perfectly decorated. However those flavours, textures, makes superbly contrary of initial expectations. Service peoples are well educated. As the ambassador of grand chef, kindly explain upon requests or questions how to make the texture, what is the flavor of inside unseen. Everything are so delicious and delicate.
Probably one of the most faultless dining experiences I’ve ever had. Incredible attention to detail, knowledgeable servers offering inspired wine pairings in gorgeous settings that make you feel like you’ve been transported from central London to a lush green secret paradise. The private dining room looks amazing as well!
I definitely would return to try tasting menu. Food was awesome.
