The Greenwich Tavern
Set on the corner of King William Walk overlooking the beautiful grasslands of Greenwich Park, this all-embracing venue includes a bar and two private function rooms ideal for parties and celebrations. The atmosphere swings from lively and merry to relaxed and mellow, due to the distinctive character offered by each of the tavern's three floors.
I brought my family during a family vacation, after having tried the place some time ago. It is the nicest pub next to the park, we had a lovely meal and staff has been friendly and careful.
Loved it and will come back!
We had a mother’s day lunch here and it was perfect! The food was delicious and really nice environment. Would definitely come back again and Dad wants to come back for Father’s Day!
Lovely relaxed atmosphere for our table of 7..
we also left a pot with money on which was returned the following day with no problem at all. Thank you staff. The food was quick and tasty. Sunday roast was delicious.
Lovely pub, lovely location and good quality ‘home cooking’ fare. Nice and relaxing, lazy afternoon.
Had a really nice family Sunday lunch, but dont eat too late or the roast beef may have gone!
Lovely staff and very dog friendly. Lovely interiors, great location and good food.
Our party of 6 booked for a late lunch on a Monday. We arrived slightly early and a table was free. The service was brisk, polite and efficient throughout. The selection of drinks available was fine for us. Some of us had starters, all had main course and some had desserts. All the food was well presented and arrived reasonable quickly. For such a 'tourist trap' location (next to the entrance to Greenwich Park) I thought the bill at less than £150 was very good value. There were no complaints and we would certainly return.
Our meal was somewhat marred by our booking being incorrectly recorded for 2pm, when we'd booked it for 2:30pm, so when we asked for our table at 2:30pm we were briskly told that the table had been given away (despite making ourselves present at the bar at 2pm...)
Once that was resolved, the rest of the experience was fine.
Great food and cocktails!
Easy, open place with decent pub food, sharing plates and nice atmosphere. Worth a try.
Not the most dog friendly pub I’ve been. We were told by staff that dogs are not allowed at the upper floor and we were moves downstairs. 30 min later a family happily goes up with a dog upstairs and it was OK.
I won’t be returning despite the good food.
The Greenwch Tavern is very good for families bringing children. The food selection is good and their food came first, keeping them quiet. Our Sunday roast dinners were very good, except that my beef was stringy and chewy ; I expected better for £18.
The service was excellent. We had a table overlooking the park. Overall, a nice occasion
The pub has stand out character and the staff are super friendly! The kitchen was meant to close at 6pm (even though we had made a reservation for 5:50pm for food!) but they kept the kitchen open for us. The food quality was really good, prices more than reasonable and the atmosphere/location was superb. Will be coming back again for sure!
the meal was very good but a near by table has a small dog which kept barking and their owner did nothing.
Relaxed, friendly, comfortable environment.
The Sunday roast was really good. Nice crunchy potatoes and decent gravy. The brunch menu is also really good.
Food was really nice , service was very good , drinks were expensive
And if you want a quite meal it was a little loud .
Love this pub! We can take our dog too which helps after a long walk in the park! Food is amazing, friendly staff and a really nice atmosphere!
Lovely food & good quick service. A lovely situation right by the entrance to Greenwich Park - great for watching the world go by.
Nice pub in a great location. Lovely outside space that is very dog friendly. Food was really nice and the service very good. Would definitely go back if in the area.
So disappointed with brunch here today! The bar staff 'weren't aware' we were there for brunch dispite clearly saying when first ordering our food.
There was a wait to be serverd for more prosecco which wasted our 2 hours- this was for a friends birthday so was hard to enjoy. The bar staff got the orders wrong and made us feel uncomfortable when we asked to change.
I'm really not one to write reviews but felt I had to.
Such a shame- wouldn't recommend brunch here at all!
Ok venue but £16 for half a camembert and 2 bits of bread! My son refused to let me say anything. Fish and chips were good.
As usually - great experience and delicious Sunday roast.
Great choice of food, friendly attentive service.
The food was very poor quality, portions small, wouldnt accommodate childrens portions and the food was cold and overcooked. Obviously cooked a long time before it was served and kept slightly warm. When we commented to the staff they said it wasn't cold!!!
We were given a table next to the disabled/baby changing toilet that kept being used by other people because the male/female toilets were quite busy (not enough toilets for the size of the pub!)... It was smelly so we asked to be moved. We were but the waitress didn't seem very happy to do so...
Food came quickly and was good but the chicken kiev was quite a small portion!
Overall a good experience and a nice pub with a nice outside area.
Had a Sunday brunch with a group of friends. The food is really good. There is no table service. You have to order at the bar. The outside space is very pleasant. Definitely go there again
I have been there many times but this time it was really a let down.
We ordered the roast which they said would take 30minutes waiting time. Then 25 minutes into our wait the waiter came over saying the lamb roast is not available anymore so I changed my order to pork. After 1 hour of wait we still didnt see our food yet.
When the food arrived, it looked like it was just chucked onto the plate and waited in the kitchen for ages. The Cesar salad we ordered was completely dried out, no sauce and the chicken was just thrown on there, stone cold and rock hard.
On the pork roast there wasn't much meat at all, it was just a big lump of fat and looked like were just the leftovers which had to go!!!
Waiters had to be told several times for requests and just seemed not to care and were just chatting with each other.
Definitely a bad experience, given the price they charge!
Great location, venue and food, but service could be better. Requested two high chairs, but had to queue at the bar to ask for them and didn't get our drinks order taken so had to queue again! Also waitresses weren't very friendly or helpful. Would still go back though, hopefully they were just having a bad day!
Really good roast potatoes!!! Bit of a draft upstairs but great food so wasn't too much of an issue and not rushed at all
Good food but have had better
Typical pub style with food and drink ordered at the bar
We went mid week but from other comments it seems better at weekends
A really hearty Sunday lunch. We sat in the upstairs dining room which was a little characterless. The service was adequate, but in no way attentive nor warm; a nice smile would have added some warmth all round.
Great location opposite Greenwich park, food was good. Had a nice atmosphere.
We were a group of six people, who enjoyed a very busy Saturday lunch in the Greenwich Tavern. We got a great table with enough space for all of us, ordered at the bar, and we enjoyed a hearty pub meal. Although it was fairly crowded and loud, the service was very friendly and efficient. We will definitely bring other guests at another time.
Staff were very friendly and accommodating and considering we had arrived minutes before the Kitchen was due to shut the food was delicious. Thanks Greenwich Tavern!
Went with my friends - it was lovely - we had the Sunday Roast which went down a treat. The only thing I would say is that they had the air conditioning on and it was absolutely freezing. Other than that, very enjoyable and would go back again.
We had the sunday lunch as a group of 9 and food was great, with a good selection of beer at the bar. Nice ambiance and views of the park. Service was very friendly, though had to chase one beer which was forgotten. Overall a great experience and would definitely recommend.
Great a Sunday brunch menu. Service was slow and waitress was grumpy but the food is delicious and the pub itself is really nicely decorated and well laid out.
Lovely Sunday roast. Good portions. Tender beef and properly cooked veg. Gravy could have been warmer but that is the only negative point
Ate there twice over this weekend. Great location next to the park and very dog friendly
Excellent service, good food, comfortable ambiance.
