brioche, fresh herbs
Center Cut Filet Mignon
Food was spectacular. Dining room had crumbs on chair, and looked like a rough cleanup from night before. Server wasn’t very knowledgeable. Broken and chipped nails on hand are a turn off.
Great food and service. Restaurants is a little dark though.
Fabulous customer service very professional and friendly. Outstanding meal
We found a hair in our calamari. When we told the waitress she never apologized, only responded she would tell the kitchen. When we asked the manager if the waitress had told him about it he responded he would talk to her. It was comped from our bill but there was never an apology. When we placed your order for appetizers the waitress asked if we wanted to place our meal order at the same time. We asked if we did place our meal order if we could have some time between the apps & meal & told yes. We received our meal as they were removing our app plates. Same was true with drink orders, told waitress we wanted after dinner drinks after we finished wine but it came immediately. Whole meal felt rushed even when there were open tables around us. Food was very good, lacked customer service.
The food was great and so was the staff
Definitely want to revisit!
Excellent food, excellent service. Traumatically pricey.
It was beautiful. Music was too loud. Great service!
Great drinks great food great service!!
Waitstaff was shaky
Service was excellent. Drinks in the pricey side for this type of restaurant. Food was very fresh but quite plain. Ambiance and decor were very nice. Desserts were good which is nice to see.
We were seated promptly. After 21 minutes we asked the hostess if there was a server for our table. When the server came over she asked if we had been helped! One of the appetizers we ordered had to be sent back because it was too salty (by the way, the table next to us also sent back the same appetizer. They did remove the appetizer from our bill.
The side order or brussel sprouts arrived a few minutes after my main course had been served. A few minutes after that the soy sauce and wasabi was brought to the table (I was already half finished with my tuna).
When we finished dinner the server came over asking if we would like another drink (my glass had been empty for at least 15 minutes and the server never came over to the table during that time).
Overall, the restaurant is overpriced for the quality of food.
It was quiet
A Monday night
Only one waitress but was ok
Too dark to even read menu
Prices a bit high but consistently good as we have been there a few times
Noisy and loud even though there were only a few tables. Food was good
We were in town for parents weekend and wanted a nice place to take our daughter. We were very happy with our choice. Although we had a rather late reservation The restaurant was still a bit busy. We had a beautiful table by the window and an excellent meal. My daughter had the tomato soup and the squid ink past both of which she said were excellent. My husband had the half chicken and although on the smaller side he said it was delicious. I enjoyed the butternut squash risotto, it was a special of the evening and just perfect. We enjoyed S’mores dessert as well, just the perfect end to our meal. We would definitely return.
Wonderful night for our 30th wedding anniversary!
Christina our server was fantastic! Just a wonderful evening.
Fantastic service from Michael. Absolutely loved the Brussels sprouts and the tuna tartare on the seafood tower!
The restaurant was wide open when we came it and were seated at a nice table with a view. The service by the mart d/waiter took our drink order and was pleasant and efficient. We had the charcuterie board had nice selection but very small portions, like literally 1 tsp of the tomato relish. I had a soup and salad for dinner, there wasn't a cup of soup in the bowl, and the caesar salad was bare no croutons, no anchovies and no parmesan cheese. ( I had to ask for them) my dinner partner had the lobster risotto, and a vegetable side dish. All portions were undersized. We shared the dessert a coconut lemon tart and I had an espresso.
Food was good, but very mediocre as far as creativity and taste. This dinner for two was over $200. do not recommend this restaurant so many other good places to eat in Newport
Was seated in outdoor enclosed area. Food was spectacular (NY Strip is a must). Friendly and knowledgeable wait staff with overall good vibe. Pricey but so are most places in Newport.
My partner's granddaughter had worked there so we wanted to see it.
The prices were high by even Newport standards.
The menu was quite limited and the drinks were very expensive.
The venue in a tent like bar area was very noisy.
great food and great service. A little too much noise at first near the bar, but got table moved.
Service was excellent and the food and views were fantastic!
The seared tuna and lobster risotto were excellent.
Drinks were good but high priced. The food was good except for my filet mignon which tasted like it had been boiled; staff is young; not terribly attentive.
I booked this restaurant for our anniversary. We travelled from Mass to stay for the weekend and the photos of the restaurant on their website site looked perfect. BUT on our arrival they could not park our car for us because they had a wedding AND a rehearsal dinner and had to reserve parking for them, even though I had a dinner reservation. Had to walk a block and pay $15, which was a decent price all things considered unless your husband has difficulty walking
Getting to the area to dine meant we had to walk thru the rehearsal dinner and down the stairs to the outside bar area that had roll down sides. NOT what I was expecting. So our reservation was NOT in the area that you see on their website but nothing is mentioned about that when booking. Our table was in the tented area and by a service station so we heard lots of banging of dishes. Service was slow because they overextended themselves with a wedding, rehearsal dinner and then the restaurant. The $18 Caesar was very small and lemony. The $61 NY strips had a line of gristle running thru and nothing better than anywhere else I could have cooked at home.
All in all it was a waste of a lot of money. Very dissatisfied. And when I booked it asked if it was a special occasion. I selected AND commented that it was our anniversary. Do you think anyone made mention….. nope! Very disappointed.
Great view and great service! Expensive and needs a wider menu.
We were in Newport on vacation and really enjoyed this dinner experience. Great service and accommodating staff, delicious food and nice ambiance. A bit too loud.
Excellent lobster, filet mignon, and creme brulee. Server was very attentive.
We came here primarily because dogs are allowed. The restaurant is on a pier, enclosed on the top by a giant roofed pergola, which was great because it was raining. There are heaters and speakers at regular intervals in the ceiling so it was toasty warm . Music was a little too loud for the upscale ambience they are going for. Do you want to be a fun waterfront bar or do you want to be a fancy waterfront restaurant that charges $42 for a 4 oz piece of tuna with no sides? Pick a lane.
Once we got over the sticker shock, we did enjoy our meal. The server was great, the tuna was exquisite and the lobster risotto was pretty good, if a little too salty/risotto not quite the right texture. The table side of fries for the table was an enormous serving. The coconut lemon tart for dessert was yummy. The bill for two was $180. So while the food is very good, be prepared to pay a premium for the location.
Server was alone, but as attentive as could be, considering number of diners. He was very pleasant, professional to the 4 of us. Very nice dining experience.
Beautiful location- food mediocre and over priced
It was our 35th anniversary and the waitress gave us a glass of champagne to celebrate.
The view was spectacular.
The spot is beautiful but overall the facility seems weathered. The service was ok but the food preparation and food quality was deplorable. For the high per plate price my expectations were that it would be a great meal. Our entire party thought the food was terrible. Sorry that we spent $900 on 4 people and had such a bad meal.
Very expensive and a limited lunch menu...views okay but not outstanding.
The view and service were amazing! Deconstructed S'mores dessert was our favorite dish of the meal - will go back just for that! Appetizers and main courses were also very good but pricey with sides a la carte. Overall, a great experience and satisfying.
This is our second time this summer to The Grill at Forty 1 North. Once for dinner and once for brunch. Both times were excellent. The food is fabulous and you cant beat the view! Can't wait to go back!
A little expensive
Expensive. Since all hotel bars are closed, the restaurant had a deserted/spooky feeling. Lighting too low to enjoy any architecture.
Small portions and not worth the money
Everything was perfect.
Should have gone with my first impressions and looked for another place to dine as soon as being seated. Was expecting a nice quiet meal indoors with a view looking out into harbor. Instead was seated outdoors in the Pavilion area, where the bar crowd was overly loud , the music was even louder and not as to be expected while enjoying a "fine dinning experience", it was not "an elegant setting" as stated. We asked to be seated further away from the bar and was told nothing was available, and a preferred table remained empty during our meal. Although the entrees were what you might expect , the salad was overly dressed and limp, the crème brulee was burnt. All things considered, quite disappointing.
