The Grove Bar & Restaurant
Very friendly. Food pretty good. Not overly expensive. Thanks
Good food, very pleasant atmosphere, relaxed and good value for money. The staff were very friendly and effective.
First time we have tried the place based on reviews. Food was really excellent and really pleasant staff. Excellent value and a nice buzz being able to watch the kitchen at work.
Will definitely go again. Highly recommended.
A very good place to eat after The Lyric Theatre. We ate quite late and the restaurant was practically empty apart from a group of extremely loud football supporters!!!! The owner apologised for the noise they were making but it slightly spilled our dining experience.
However, the food was great and the service was friendly, efficient and and helpful .
We had actually eaten at The Grove before during the summer and had sat outside ; it was extremely pleasant!!
Definitely worth a visit !
We’ll go again!
Food ok location and ambience better, always a nice way to spend Sun afternoon
Second visit for pre-theatre meal with friends..... these ones are foodies and it was excellent! a good selection of wines and an interesting menu. food is very well cooked and presented, service was very friendly and efficient. will always use this for pre-theatre in the future - a great find. thank you
Booked for a large group. Great service from all the staff. Everyone was raving about it. Food was extremely tasty
A constantly high standard and a pleasure to eat there; the style and charm of the management is reflected in the staff's approach to their work - which is 5 star.
The place didn't live up to its opentable reviews. It's more a drinking than an eating pub.
I come to this place often because I live locally and it has never disappointed me. The place is never crowded which is very rare in London. You can enjoy a quiet meal in a place that does not require you to book in advance. It does not look particularly fancy and they offer your typical bar foods but you can also a "nice meal" rather than just a "bar meal". Staff are very professional and friendly.
Nice Mediterranean food. We ate the roast pork and it was delicious, tender and tasty.
Surprisngly quiet for a Saturday night, despite an attractive and good value menu. Service was friendly and attentive, although not overly so. Food was good quality, if a little bland. House beer was tasty, which made the absence of drinkers in the bar puzzling.
Came here on a Time Out Voucher Deal for Two (3 courses) which was a great price. Arrived in time for happy hour cocktails (yummy). Food was okay but not brilliant; had to request my main course to be heated up as it was lukewarm. Desserts were a bit "picked up from the café" and nothing really very homemade about them sadly. Wouldn't recommend to my friends as there are so many other places in the area. The claim to fame of famous visitors may be a draw for some visitors, but lots of people seemed to be on the same deal.
Food and service were fab. All 5 diners relished their meal. Would go back.
Mediterranean influenced food, good portions, well cooked fresh ingredients. Helpful friendly staff.
This is a lesson probably already well-learned by experienced diners: never make a reservation for the first slot of the day. We went for breakfast and although the food was delicious, a restaurant should not offer reservations for a time when they are not ready for customers. We had to wait half an hour before the kitchen was ready. Luckily we weren't in a hurry and didn't mind the wait.
If you do want to enjoy a nice breakfast, this is a great place; just don't go before 9am.
In the scramble to serve customers which arrived at a time which they had advertised they were accepting reservations, the restaurant also neglected to credit my top table account with points which is another minor annoyance.
Decided to try this restaurant after reading other Toptable reviews and we weren't disappointed. Food was excellent, nicely presented and reasonably priced. Service was great.
Will be coming here again.
It is convenient for me to meet friends in Hammersmith once in a while, and this pub is the nicest around there when it comes to food and atmosphere. Good food and friendly service.
The menu was good and varied and work particularly well for my step mum who is intolerant to wheat as there was plenty of other options for her. The staff were friendly and attentive and the pub was nicely decorated with a relaxed atmosphere.
I went to this restaurant recently for dinner. It's a gastro pub serving tasty hearty meals in a lively setting.
Good food and ambience, let down by slightly inattentive service (white bread when brown bread specifically asked for, eggs florentine when benedict ordered, etc).
What a great find...lovely back street venue with great food
We shall be returning that is for sure
staff were very friendly and attentive... and risotto was fab! would definitely recommend :)
A group of 8 of us enjoyed a post-theatre lunch at the Grove which was great. The service was very good and they were tolerant of our 2 young children. Nice food and ambience. We would recommend and return.
The staff were very helpful and friendly. The ambience was also lovely, a spacious restaurant so you don't feel too crowded with tables. The food was also very good, and able to provide other vegetarian options that were not on the menu. I really liked how we didn't feel like we had to rush our lunch and order, as some friends came an hour late and the 12 of us pretty much stayed there the entire sunday afternoon together.
The food was very nice and reasonably priced. Service was excellent and the food was well prepared. Best of all it is within an easy walk of the Lyric Hammersmith theatre, and provides a nice option to the more ethnic fare available on King Street.
This is the sort of local restaurant I would love to have on my street corner. It is in a residential area about 5 minutes walk from the Hammersmith Apollo. We ate pre-theatre on Saturday evening - was not too busy - just right atmosphere - good service. Has a mediterranean feel and good set and a la carte meals - 2 course for £16.95 - you can choose from highlighted selections off the full menu. There is plenty of choice of lovely fresh seasonal food. We had sea bream - beautifully cooked and served with polenta and the burger which was juicy - cooked rare which we asked for (and rarely get) with fresh salad garnish and tasty thick chips A great little "find" in Hammersmith - would definitely return if in the area.
Friendly environment and great food - outside space but close to road
The Grove in Hammersmith is an excellent gastropub in one of the quieter residential streets yet within easy walking distance of Hammersmit Tube and the Apollo where I was attending a concert after dinner. The pub is modern and airy inside with an open plan view of the kitchen area and offers a great menu ranging from simple comfort foods (my partner had a home-made burger) to various pasta style dishes (I had the beetroot gnocchi). Presentation, quantity and quality were all first class and the bill at the end at under £70 was extremely reasonable for 2 courses each plus aperitifs and a glass of wine each with dinner.
Standard gastropub dining and associated prices but food very good and service attentive. Waiter did need reminding that a drink had been ordered at one point. 12.5% service automatically added to bill (any number of diners) always rankles.....
Can be a little quiet inside if not busy, but food is always very good.
The food was tasty but a little cold (both the starters and mains). The grilled brie for starter would've benefited from some complementary bread - this would have been charged at an extra price. The mains were very nice though the steak a little overpriced. There is a set menu for two or three courses but we felt the selection on this was quite limited.
Although there was a significant number of us (18), it still does not excuse the way we were treated. Being in a bit of a rush, we still had to ask 3 times for someone to come and take our order, with a total of time of c.2 hours just to eat, making us late for the theatre. As we asked them to go as quickly as possible, the staff were very r ude, and told us that they didn't care.
Food was fine, although nothing spectacular, and price was ok, but the entire experience was tainted by the abysmally poor service.
Will not be returning.
We visited The Grove as it was recommended pre theatre. We parked easily and were surprised how quiet and surburban the road was baring in mind it was so close to Hammersmith Apollo. The staff were very friendly. We said that we needed to eat quickly and we were served well within the time limit. The food was excellent.
A wonderful restaurant close to The Hammersmith Apollo. Great choice of food, great atmosphere and service. Definitely one to revisit.
Found this place on-line as somewhere to eat prior to a concert at the Hammersmith Apollo. It's a short but easy walk from the Hammersmith Tube. We booked but didn't need to, it was pretty empty at 17:30 on a Saturday. The service was good, attentive and polite. The food was also good, prepared freshly and well presented. My wife had the sea bass which she said was very good although perhaps a touch on the small size; my chicken burger was very good; except for the bun which was the standard tasteless white cotton wool ball from MacDonalds. A brown wholemeal bun option would be good.
I booked this resaurant for my wife and I before going to the Apolllo for and evening show, I checked the reviews and was not disappointed. The service was good and the price very reasonable. The food was outstanding, I have paid a lot more in posher restaurants and not had food as tasty as we had at the Grove. It really is good. Well done to the chef!
We were totally impressed with this wonderful restaurant for a pre-theatre dinner. We all chose from the set menu and my calves liver was perfectly cooked and the banoffee pie was amazing. Great menu, friendly, welcoming staff and a great atmosphere. Will definitely be booking again.
Grove Bar and Restaurant - good location for meal before Apollo Hammersmith event. Food was pretty good from the evening set menu. starter fishcake a bit dry, liver and bacon main excellent, fruit panacotta a bit disappointing. Reasonable choice of wines by the glass, my Malbec good.
We had an early supper from the set menu at the Grove, Hammersmith yesterday evening. There was a good choice of all 3 courses and it was good value for money. I had the veggie antipasto starter which was really delicious & would recommend. We both had the calves liver & bacon and one of the pieces of liver on my plate was chewy with inedible sinew, disappointing. My husbands portion was fine.
