2nd night in DC great place :)
Served wrong food
Ideal location, soothing ambience, fine food, excellent service. What's not to like? JohnG
My husband and I were spending the weekend in the city for our first wedding anniversary. I found The Hamilton when I was searching for a nice restaurant for us to have our anniversary dinner at. We were very pleased with our entire experience, from the service from the attentive staff, to the delicious food, to our complementary dessert for our anniversary. I couldn’t have imagined a better restaurant to spend our first anniversary at. We hope to come back again the next time we are in the city!
Service and ambiance were amazing! It is a bit loud in the main dining area (large open room filled with tables and booths) but they have more private options if you prefer! We were so excited to try the sushi after reading all of the great reviews. Unfortunately we were not impressed, however I am currently pregnant and could only have the fully cooked options so I would try again. Desert is an absolute must here!!! The peanut butter cheesecake was to die for, just amazing! Wonderful selection of wine/beer/ creative cocktails, they even made me a really great mocktail!
Overall it was a good experience, I would try the steak if we go back, it looked and smelled amazing; plus ask for a more private area of the restaurant.
The service was wonderful. Our waitress was attentive and friendly, and the food and drinks came quickly. My husband and I love the Happy Hour sushi deals and both loved our entrees as well.
Surprised popular spot in DC downtown area. classic decorated restaurant, variant food and open till early morning. Better to make a reservation before you go there.
Quality of sushi has declined. We always make a point to have sushi at Hamilton when in DC. It appears the fish for some sushi rolls are pre-prepped (Rainbow Roll)? They don’t look fresh and don’t taste as good. Disappointed.
We chose the Hamilton for a celebratory lunch in close proximity to our offices. While handling a full dining room, service was prompt, the food was delicious and the ambiance engaging. I highly recommend the Hamilton.
Great atmosphere and great food for a great price
Amazing service by Nikki and the sushi was very fresh and tasty
Great experience at The Hamilton before the Ashley McBryde concert. Food wAs great.
I always thought that Clydes, Old Ebbitt and Hamilton were terrific values but that thought is fading. Now I am going to other restaurants, whereas in the past those three restaurants were "go to". My bill on Tuesday was like $85 for two people and the food was unremarkable. I have lots of choices for $85 and I am starting to explore them. For example, I have been going to the Chop House for lunch rather than Clyde's.
Great overall place. The crab cakes need some work, for being so close to the Chesapeake.
We loved everything about the Hamilton-the food, the staff, and the beauty of the restaurant. Our server, Krystal, went above and beyond in assisting our menu choices and making us feel valued. She was professional and personal. I was celebrating my birthday and she helped make it special! We loved our experience and will recommend it! Thanks again! Tristie and Brian Fisher
It was great!
Food and service were outstanding.
First time dinning at The Hamilton. Very good dinner before a show downstairs. Halle was very attentive. Food was outstanding. I will come back soon.
Our waitress Sarah was so awesome. She was very attentive and had a great personality. Ordered the chicken wings and tempura shrimp and they were both fried to perfection and had a great flavor.
Perfect couldn’t ask for more
The night couldn't have been any better. An A+ for sure.
Excellent from start to finish. Halle, our server, was a pleasure and helped make the experience. Will definitely go back!
Very good. Have I hit 50 characters yet? How about now?
Excellent place if your party has a variety of palettes. Had hummus, feta, and baba ganoush as an appetizer. Mother in-law got the crab cakes, father-in-law got a steak sandwich, and my wife and I had sushi! All were delicious! Extremely happy with our decision to stop by. Will return!
The sushi happy hour was amazing! Loved the food! Definitely coming back!
Everything was very nice e w/one exception...outrageous parking prices!
Was informed that parking was only valadated during the evening. If that’s the case, lunch is out for me. $30 for 1.5hrs...never again
Amazing service, our waitor was quite funny and very attentive. She was extremely knowledgeable on the menu.
Great sushi happy hour! Our waiter was also terrific. The front of house staff/greeters, however, are consistently short, rude and often leave people waiting without explanation. Seems like something that could be easily remedied.
New Year's brunch service was very slow and some of the food seemed like it was sitting around for a while. While I had enjoyed previous meals here, I am unlikely to go to the Hamilton again.
Best Brunch options very well made! Quality flavors & taste!
The overall dining experience was fine. I have been to the D.C. Hamilton restaurant a number of times for business-related meals and gatherings. The ambiance is superb and such a sophisticated environment. I always had great service when there during busy times. This time it was personal for my birthday on New Years Day. I would highly recommend the restaurant during busy periods mostly. We feel the waiter was good, however, it took nearly 20 minutes for him to arrive at our table. Our observation was that this was because he had too many tables and/or was not told that our table was his. It took two discussions with two different personnel to get a waiter. Management should look at this more closely and make sure that adequate communication occurs between the front and the waiter staff so they know which tables they are assigned. I appreciated the front asking about it being my birthday...yet really didn't feel like we were treated anything worthwhile given it was my special day. I really didn't expect any special treatment...just good service and adequate communication. The food was especially good when it arrived. I will go back...just will give it further thought during the down periods at the restaurant given the service experience and concern mentioned above.
Service is normally pretty good. This time the service was poor (slow, missing items, not friendly, mistake on the bill) and the restaurant wasn't busy so that was am excuse for bad service.
The restaurant opened late for New Year’s brunch- scheduled to start at 11, opened about 10 minutes later. The brunch menu was decidedly unfriendly to someone who needs to maintain a gluten-free diet, despite notes on the menu (and website- which I checked before booking) that there are GF options available and items on the menu that can be modified. There was only one item on the brunch menu that could be modified, no offer to extemporize an eggs and bacon dish, no offer of GF bread until asked. The website and menu were either both misleading- or the kitchen and wait staff could not be bothered to accommodate. A past visit was successful- with suggestions from the kitchen on alternatives- but not this time. I will not be going back. For someone with no allergies -probably ok.
I come here often and was very disappointed. The Hamilton dropped the ball big time this New Year Eve. The service was very spotty. The sushi was just okay for the price point. I order scallops with mash potatoes and spinach. The scallops were tiny and burnt. They barely gave me any spinach to accompany the dish. I didn’t complain but wasnt very happy with my dinner. Also, upon entering the manager was showing preferential treatment to some very young women who appeared to be already over served while waiting for their table. It was inappropriate at the very least. I won’t be back.
New Years Eve dinner! Great atmosphere, food and service!
Our server Jacob was great and attentive! Food was absolutely delicious.
Service was exceptional, even during the NYE rush. Food was delicious!
Great for intimate and cozy ONLY if you dining in the SNUG> I would use OpenTable for making reservations and using the SNUG
I needed to use the GM to assist me with my reservation. My reservations were delayed for 45min since the Hostess did not manage my reserve booth properly. She should have advised the first dinner guest that the booth/table was reserved for 800 pm. Only with the GM help, we were able to be seated in the preferred SNUG booth
We had a private booth for dinning. Very cosy and silent. Excellent dishes - Sushi was in a great quality. The service was excellent!!!we will be back
This is definitely a date night restaurant. I tried the sushi platter for 2 on New Year’s Eve and it was wonderful.
