Our waiter was disappointing. Wish the service was better. I use to love this place.
I went to Hamilton because I hear raves about it. We ordered Fries Green Tomatoes and Buratta for our appetizer and the buratta is so salty as if they poured salt over the tomatoes. The Fried Green tomatoes have to many flavor and though it was perfectly fried the taste and flavor was not great.
We ordered Hanger Steak and Pork Chops for our main course and again both are too salty. We did not enjoy our meal at al though we are hungry.
The only good part of the meal was the Mac and cheese. Even the creme brûlée was not great.
Would not go back and I don’t recommend
Our compliments to the mixologist. Really excellent cocktails.
Would’ve given 5 stars, except we made the reservation as a “birthday” reservation and they didn’t really even acknowledge it. The host said happy birthday when we checked in, but that’s it!
I often enjoy The Hamilton for drinks and sushi HH but this dinner was very disappointing. Sunday night in August, restaurant barely half-filled, and it took 30 minutes to get first round of drinks on table. There was something wrong with every dish we ordered: my fish was overcooked yet stone cold and no seasoning (request for salt/pepper/tabasco went unfulfilled), one person's side salad was missing, an item that someone was allergic to was included in their meal, burger add-ons were missing. Servers did the usual check-time disappearing act.
The waitress we had was training, which was understandable - However the food took a while to come out. I had to ask 3 other people for a refill on drinks. The bill after requested took a while to come out.
Brunch during Restaurant Week
Have been a customer for about 6 years now. Consistent great service, great dishes and drinks. One of my favorites in DC.
It was for restaurant week. The menu was mediocre. The service was mediocre. The steak was the cheapest piece of meat I have ever had. Overall not impressed.
I wasn’t super impressed with the atmosphere, food, or service. The crab cakes were good, the salmon was not.
I really like this location, but our food this past weekend was somewhat average. Salads were not as tasty as normal and my burger was just OK...
Service was great. The food was so so. Couldn't cut the pork chop with a steak knife (overcooked), salmon was undercooked and the linguini dish was very small for the $.
Went there before a show at the Kennedy Center and everything was great. From the Bartender to the time we left the service was amazing. Even better the food was top notch and reasonably priced and the kids menu was big enough and had more than enough selections even for picky children. Thanks for the experience.
It was a wonderful time after handling many family tragedies this year. We came to the Hamilton prior to seeing a show at the Warner. The only critique that I have, is that I would have loved more input from the waiter on different menu items. He works there and is the best source of information as to what to recommend after hearing what we like and looking for. He did give that to us eventually, but not until he got a little frustrated that I didn’t know my cheeses. Anyway, overall fantastic...it all comes down to customer service...and that can always be enhanced.
Food was very disappointing and took a long time.
I take every visitor I have to The Hamilton for the art, the food, and the service.
An eclectic menu... service was so-so. We asked for a few things and it took a very long time although we had a reservation for 11am which is what time it opened. We actually thought it was a true brunch but only 3-4 things as a brunch option. Would I be going back, NO.
We went for the Restaurant Week Brunch Specials. The food was great and the portion sizes were huge. Great value, great food. Gabriel took care of us and could not have been nicer.
The food and mood was awesome. Daniel was great and provided suggestions that were spot on. Meatloaf was the best I ever had. Fried Green Tomatoes and Crab Lump Deviled Eggs were great starters. After a few glasses of wine we finished off the delicious meal with Bourbon Toffee Bread Pudding! To die for.
Wanted to try it out for restaurant week and it was a really great meal
Went here for restaurant week. This is about the seventh time at the restaurant. I know the Hamilton has much more potential than what I experienced during restaurant week. It is like your A student performing at a C level. I order the B]blue mussels and the hanger steak. Both are on the regular menu. The mussels came out great. A nice mix of sausage and garlic. The hanger steak with frites came out in a large portion. Lots of sauce on top. Now the steak was a good size but it was extremely tough. My friend and myself had the same experience. I’ve had better steaks at Outback. This is not Hamilton standards and was an epic FAIL. Maybe it was just a restaurant glitch.
Great restaurant in DC. Great food. Atmosphere was high energy. Lots of people and higher noise level. Not a problem for my family. Prices were reasonable compared to other high-end restaurants. Would go back again.
A very good spot for dinner and good food!! But too much conditioned air, we weren’t so relaxed during our couple’s time... Bring your shirt if you are not used to! (I had it but wasn’t enough)!
Everything was awesome, service and food!!! It was just overwhelmingly loud. Hire an acoustician.
I thoroughly enjoyed my options as my friend and I dined at The Hamilton. I did make the typical mistake of going to Hamilton’s a dive bar not too far away but both were perfect fitting for a spontaneous classy birthday.
My date and I had a great time. We made a last minute reservation and they were very accommodating. We had Daniel as our server, and he was top notch! I've been in industry for 12 years, and he is one of the best I've seen. The food was delicious and same with the drinks.
Great night out! From the greeting at the hostess stand to the attentive, but not overbearing service, everything was wonderful. Many thanks to all involved for a really nice meal! Eww
Met a friend for lunch during restaurant week. I had the fried green tomatoes (excellent per the southern girl), my friend had the market salad (good, but meal size, not appetizer size), we both had the boy, with the best tomatoes ever and we both took half the sandwich home with out desserts, blueberry crumble yummy and chocolate pie. Food was really good, but American portion sizes.
Celebrated my 21st birthday here. It was such a beautiful experience!
Food was very good -- our table's food ranged from fried green tomatoes, to hangar steak, to salad, to salmon to crab cakes. The house cabernet sauvignon was great. Noise level huge near the bar, but we were seated in a booth with little saloon type doors and that helped some. Our server was spectacular! Beautiful historic feeling restaurant with high ceilings and lovely wood details.
Our server was outstanding. You are fortunate to have her on your team.
Amazing food, attentive service and a private dining table with doors!!
Great food, location and atmosphere! There were 4 of us in our party and we each left satisfied. The wait service was pleasant and attentive.
Great service and food is always consistently good.
Great atmosphere and food!
Fantastic everything. Amazing food, atmosphere, service, drinks, and dessert! Highly recommend the fried green tomatoes. Old school elegance meets contemporary foodie demands. And most importantly, kid friendly.
A wonderful place to get a great meal. Atmosphere and building architecture and great menu selections made for a wonderful evening with friends while visiting DC. Service was good and we all enjoyed our food choices. Will definitely return whenever back in DC.
Great service! Great food!
Great food, exceptional people and a fantastic dining experience.
