It was out first time at The Hamilton. It was perfect. Sushi. Miso cocktails. Quiche Lorraine. All fabulous.
The food was amazing! The only problem that I have was it was restaurant week and they didn't have the menu on the table so I didn't think they were participating in it. You had to ask for it and I guess this was their way of not getting you to get a full meal for $35. I didn't find out about the menu until the person at the table next to me complain and at that point I had already paid my bill.
Restaurant week brunch. Was good food for the most part. Huecos ranchero was mediocre but the other options were well done and large portions. Service took a very long time which was the most disappointing part but would go back and try again.
Would recommend for location, kid friendliness, breadth of menu, quality of food. Service was slow and not very attentive.
Service was awful. Food was cold. Very disappointing.
Great food, service and ambiance. Highly recommend
My wife and I walked in an hour ahead of reservation for dinner and still got seated right away. Our waiter was super responsive, great personality, and service was exceptional. Our food and drink selections were excellent. We loved the restaurant’s decor and atmosphere. The Hamilton remains one of our favorite restaurants to dine.
Girl’s night out and we decided to dine at The Hamilton. The service was good, everyone was polite and helpful. The food was disappointing for what we paid. I had the crab cakes and the presentation and French fries were good, the crab cake was pure lump crab meat but unfortunately let me down with a lack of seasoning. For desert I tried the bread pudding and again another let down...missing the mark with the flavors. If your looking for a nice hangout spot, just wanting drinks and maybe an appetizer I would say go for it, but if your looking for a well flavored meal, I would pass.
Sushi was excellent! Hamilton is my places I like for sushi.
Pasta dish was no so great!
Lovely as always
Awesome experience. Great service. Food was out of this world. All at great prices. Especially for DC. Will return soon.
Server took way too long ... had to get food to go and desserts Togo. Only had soup and left ... they are not prepared for lunch rush or restaurant week. Disappointed and will not come back
Nice ambiance and decent food. The prices are a little higher than average, but you go there for the atmosphere.
I enjoyed it but was unimpressed by my Restaurant Week selections. Next time I will order from regular menu as I have before.
Fun, just took a little long for appetizers, but food overall was fantastic. Ambiance was great. Waitstaff was generally friendly.
The Hamilton was a hit over restaurant week.
From start to finish, what a meal! The cup of Crab soup with a touch of old bay was the perfect start to the meal. And the three mushroom stroganoff with creme fraiche was heavenly. Finally, the creole bread pudding was rich and tasty. Its the tiny details that can also put a dining experience over the top, and this was so with the bottle of water left at my table, and the bread with the lightly salted butter. Finally, the young woman who was my server knew how to keep checking on me and also give me my space. A credit to the restaurant.
I would definitely return and bring a friend.
This place was another great spot in the city. I had the sushi and the Hamilton burger I would recommend both. The bartender was also really friendly and helpful. A must stop if you are in town!
Once we got there, our reservation was pulled up and we were seated immediately which was good! Shortly after that we placed our order and got the calamari for a starter, the blackened catfish for the entree, and cookies and hot chocolate for dessert. The food was pretty good but filling, so we took it to go. The next day I reheated my food to eat it and while eating it I noticed that my catfish was not fully cooked. I called the restaurant to speak to a manager who was of no help. At the time I was understanding of what he was saying, but looking back it made no sense. He claims he could not find our reservation, yet we were seated with the reservation and sent this follow up email to rate them based on our reservation...I don’t understand. I did not have my receipt but I offered to give him my name and card number so he could pull up my receipt, which he also said he could not do...I don’t understand that either because since my card was swiped there’s always an electronic copy. I literally pulled up my bank account and saw the pending purchase, yet he could not pull up my receipt. Lastly, he said that he wanted to help but couldn’t understand why my catfish didn’t cook when I heated it up in the microwave. I can somewhat understand that part but I don’t know how a whole piece of catfish can cook in less than a minute and a half. Also, it should not have been my responsibility to cook it in the microwave, it should have been cooked before it was given to me. The piece of fish I had was a thick piece so there was no way a minute in the microwave was going to do much. There were parts that were still translucent where I could see light pink stuff on it, as well as a long pinkish elastic strand of something which I removed and threw away. After some googling I found out it could have been a parasite, but I’m just annoyed that there were so many problems with this meal and the lack of help I received. I would not recommend The Hamilton to ANYONE. Ever.
The beef rib bourguignon actually had only a nickel sized piece of meet. The rest was just mini bits mixed with gravy over mashed potatoes. It was very disappointing. The cream of crab soup was excellent--by contrast, lots of crab meat. The Mushroom Arancini was also very good. The bread pudding was fine, as was the catfish etouffe. The Old Fashioned was very good, but at $20 for a glass, a bit steep. It was a fine dinner, but I'm not sure I'd be in a rush to return.
Excellent service and food. I would recommend fora business/friend lunch or special occasion.
Maybe I picked the wrong day. It was so packed as usual (which is ok) . but seems like they were too busy to take care of us. The lady at the front wasn't very friendly.
I had chirashi. I should've picked something else.. I wonder if they know what chirashi sushi is?
It was just small portion of rice and 4 or 5 sliced sashimi on it. Very poor presentation and it just taste like sashimi and rice. I'm sure if I pick something else, it would be different though kinda good to experience and see that also.
I thought Hamilton was way better than what we experienced yesterday.
It is quite casual restaurant. I didn't get any special feel and service.
Excellent service, sushi happy hour, amazing sushi beer
I always love visiting the Hamilton when I am in DC!
It was restaurant week. Despite the fact that we had a reservation, we waited 15 minutes to be seated. Once seated, we waited another 5 minutes and then were greeted by our waitress. The 2 of us ordered 3 items to be split. We had to ask for extra plates each time. The first item (salad) came quickly, and then we waited 25 minutes before the next item came. The food was delicious, but the service was not great. At the end of the meal, my colleague informed the waitress that he had to leave in 10 minutes for his next meeting and could we quickly get the dessert (just cookies). She was understanding and said of course, but before we received the cookies, my colleague had to leave for his next meeting.
The environment and customer service is outstanding
We had a great dinner, food was very good and the waiter could not have been better.
Chip was our waiter-super attentive and was great with recommendations on favorite foods, etc
Great time. No issues.
Enjoyed pre-dinner drinks at the bar.
Waiter seemed to forget about me as the restaurant got busier. I often dine alone when traveling and appreciate when I am not overlooked for larger parties. I waited 30 minutes for the check to be brought, and when it never was I left cash on the table and had to leave. No server in sight.
Great food- and really good dessert! That made the meal!
Love love love! Excellence and such a cool vibe.
This was an unexpected delight. My wife I and I came in from California and stayed at the JW Marriott. We have been to DC hundreds of times. I made reservations at the Hamilton because it is close to the hotel. The setting is fabulous, the service very good and the food was terrific. All at very reasonable prices on a DC scale. Kudos
Came here for my birthday with my family. I had a good time. He ambiance in this restaurant was truly amazing. I mean one of the main reasons I chose this place to host my dinner is because it is the The Hamilton. My only thing is that the food options were limited if you don’t beef or pork. Luckily I eat seafood but a lot of the menu is seafood as well. The overall experience was great, and drink options were really good as well. But if you’re vegetarian, or only eat chicken, then I’d consider another place. But I’d highly recommend coming here at least once.
Let me start: I love this place, always have - and we will be back. HOWEVER, I was disappointed there was no mention of our birthday and engagement celebration (outside of the man at the front desk) when I added it as a note to the reservation. Not asking for free stuff - just acknowledgment when it’s noted.
