We went for brunch after running a 15k. It was great service!
Loved the diverse menu selections.
The Hamilton is one of my favorite go-to places to take visiting friends and family. I've not been disappointed and neither have they.
It is a nice place with good food. Our visit revealed a problem as we ended up waiting 40 minutes for food. We had to ask when we would get it. To their credit they offered dessert gratis.
Discovered this restaurant unexpectedly as we drove to DC for the show Beautiful at the National. It is a large yet intimate setting with excellent food and service.
The perfect place for a pre-theater dinner downtown. Lots of tables, plenty of space between them, well-trainer staff moves your order along without rushing you. And the food is terrific. I had short ribs and polenta on a very cold night — the perfect antidote.
Jazz is often live in one of several dining rooms, or piped in; either way, it too is terrific.
Wonderful experience, great service even better food.
Unusual menu--something for everyone. Great find for half-off sushi until 6pm. Good wine list. HUGE restaurant, with different separate rooms big enough to be their own separate restaurant. Understandable, since this used to be a chain bookstore (Borders?) back in the day. They validate parking 2 blocks away, always a good thing downtown.
Staff seemed inexperienced. I went alone on a Sunday night. The room where I was taken was 3/4 empty, but I was seated at a table (for four). I asked if I could instead sit at a more comfortable banquette, and was told nothing was available. I asked to speak to the greeter again and pointed out that the place was mostly empty, and in any case they had sent me an a table for four, so it wouldn’t make a difference. They eventually sat me had a banquette. (The person who I originally asked didn’t know what a banquette was.) The poutine appetizer was tasty. Ordered Hanger Steak for main course: Small piece of beef sitting alone, ungarnished, in a plate. Odd presentation. Had a beer. It was flat. Overall, the food was OK, but with tax and tip I spent about $70 for one cocktail, one beer, one appetizer, and main course, and would have expected higher-quality, at that price.
Much better service this time than last.
My second time in 1 month during 2 separate visits. Food and ambiance were great. Service during first visit was spectacular (it was later in the eve, around 10:30 on a Monday). Service during second visit was not as good (8:30 pm on a Saturday night).
Restaurant with great ambiance. However it feels like there's a disconnect between the menu and the scene. I went for my girlfriend's birthday, and it was nice, but the food was not anything too special. It gives off the vibe of a classy American restaurant, yet there's sushi and other random food. Good restaurant that is worth trying at least once.
We were seated shortly after our reservation time. They did not have the one item on the menu I wanted - the halibut, but the filet mignon was great. The Brussie side dish is fantastic. The server split my side salad for some reason - I hadn't asked her to, and it was confusing why my salad showed up on two plates and one presented to my husband who hadn't asked for and didn't want a salad. They did replace the broccolini my husband ordered - turned out it was too spicy for him - without question. We were just a little rushed - next time we need to make sure we make a 6:00 reservation for the 8:00 show, though there were none available by the Tuesday before. Now I know to make the reservation at least a week in advanced! In general, the food was great, and the service was excellent. Caveat - it is a rather noisy environment. Sitting at a table instead of a booth seemed to help.
Delicious lobster bisque, charcuterie and hangar steak. Attentive wait staff. Very crowded that night, but had no issues because we had reservations.
Enjoy this festive restaurant with a menu to satisfy various preferences this holiday season.
We were grateful to get reservations because the location was perfect for our night out to the theatre. The food was very good but the service was slow. We had plenty of time, so didn’t mind the extra time at the table.
great place for dinner. We will go back. Convenient location.
First time I had dinner there, took some grandkids with a friend. Have eaten there before, very good food, but it's just too loud for many repeat visits
We had a wonderful meal at The Hamilton. Both the service and the food were excellent, and we plan to come again!
Ask to be seated in quiet part of restaurant- different experience! Server sucked but busboys were amazing. Great time!
experienced hiccups not normal for a Clyde's establishment.....was seated and waited more than 5 minutes before any one appeared to acknowledge. After inquiry an unapologetic server said there was a mix up on table assignments......?....later I was served my sushi without and soy sauce which took a while to ask and receive. First time I have ever had a problem at this or any Clyde's. i hope you can share this with Clyde's management.
The Hamilton's staff is very good, and courteous! And, the food is very good as well.
Hanah was great.
Great as usual
The booth was so private and the food and service were excellent
Enjoyed the restaurant, the service could have been better. The server did not speak very much and had to reach out to him for service.
I like to visit The Hamilton for their great lunch options and late night menu. I especially enjoy 1/2 price sushi between 3 pm - 6 pm and after 11 pm. The lunch size portions of the pasta dishes are perfect and reasonably priced. Win-win!
Great food, loved the half/full order option. Colleague had the sushi - loved it! I had the Rigatoni and it was more than enough in a half order. The spices were great!
Enjoyed a wonderful meal, made even better by the amazing service we received from our waitress, Allison. The octopus appetizer was the best we've ever had ... definitely plan to go back !
Fabulous as always! They accommodated my vegan Rice Bowl and we loved the half price sushi from 3-6! A beautiful setting with excellent food and service.
Great place for your Washington DC power lunch. While the Old Ebbit Grill around the corner gets all the attention, the Hamilton next door is a stellar performer as well. Great concert venue in the evening but the food is excellent during the day and the seating and service are exceptional as well. Very good for those special events.
Hamilton never disappoints. A good option for dining after a day of sightseeing and museums. It was easy to get a table for an early dinner. Happy that they were able to accommodate an additional to our party. There was something for every taste. I don't eat sushi, but the visitors in my party were very pleased with the sushi options and the quality.
We love the variety of food at The Hamilton! My husband is a comfort food guy & thought the mushroom stroganoff was outstanding as an appetizer & enjoyed the meat loaf as his main course, and the best bread pudding ever for dessert! . I like to try new combinations & totally enjoyed the blackened scallops over grits with kale. The brussel sprouts with pomegranate seeds was an outstanding side dish. The sushi selections are also excellent! Service was also impeccable.
Fantastic sushi happy hour, delicious cocktails, and the ever-wonderful atmosphere of the Hamilton make it my favorite spot in D.C.
Everything was great except the price. I thought it was a little expensive.
ANAZING food, service and atmosphere! I will definitely return!
Perfect location, one block from the White House! After a morning spent sight seeing (and walking 5 miles) it was an absolute delight to walk into The Hamilton. We were early for our reservation but were shown straight to our table. Staff were friendly and polite without being over enthusiastic. Great choice of food on the menu and also a great drinks menu too. Our server was knowledgeable and was able to make recommendations. Food arrived promptly and was delicious. My only 'very' minor issue, was that the main courses were brought before we had finished the starters. I would highly recommend The Hamilton, the service, staff and food are all well worth the money
great as always....It is one of my favorite restaurants.
Particularly outstanding service and wonderful food. We had an early dinner almost alone but it filled up fast towards 700 PM.
