The Hare & Hounds Ratings and Reviews
We always try to eat at the Hare & Hounds when we visit Bath. This was the first time we'd had Sunday lunch and it didn't disappoint. Well cooked meat and vegetables, good sized portions and a huge Yorkshire pudding (a worthwhile extra to the roast chicken). The staff are very welcoming and it's dog friendly, with water bowls and biscuits provided. We will continue to visit!
never been here before so took a chance for a date with my lady. Place was absolutely fabulous, the views were stunning, the food was really really good as was the service. My lady was exceptionally impressed....so that made me look good. I would recommend this to anyone.
We all enjoyed the food tremendously and the chefs can be seen working from where we were sat. The place has a lovely feel to it and has fantastic views (in daylight). The service was very good with the waiter making some excellent suggestions and the bowl of chips are to die for! The only niggle was our plates took awhile to be cleared after mains. We will all be back as the food is outstanding.
I like to cook, but we are in the process of having a new kitchen so have been out for a meal most nights for the past week! Quite honestly we have had some pretty poor meals. Husband is vegetarian. Local pub only had one veg option, including all starters and mains. Another pub gave me over cooked Salmon and veg.
Not so The Hare and Hounds. Finally we both had a meal we thoroughly enjoyed. The Lamb dish was delicious. Same goes for the Halloumi Burger, ambience was lovely and service perfect. Early evening views over Bath an added treat. We will be back 😀
The Hare and Hounds boasts incredible countryside views from the al-fresco terrace, as well as a quality menu that delivers on flavour. Service is prompt and welcoming, there's a solid drinks selection and the overall experience is very good value for money.
This was the welcome return of a Londoner (during a week in Bath) to a pleasant gastropub with spectular views of Bath from its location high up on Lansdown Road. My friend and I had the pub classics sausage and mash, and ham, egg and chips respectively for lunch, and found that they were well cooked and presented. The thick slice of ham was surprisingly tasty, and appeared to have been well-sourced - not a bland, water-injected piece of rubber. As far as food, service and ambience are concerned, I have no hesitation in recommending this establishment.
Lovely welcoming staff who were attentive and yet not intrusive. We had a lovely long relaxing lunch and didn't feel rushed whilst we caught up with all our news. The staff were all very helpful with any special dietary needs. The food was delicious and portions generous. Fabulous choice for drinks. Amazing view from the conservatory and terrace. Glad I booked in advance as this is such a popular pub.
The Hare and Hounds is in a beautiful setting with amazing views. Many pubs do adequate food but very few do exceptional food - the Hare and Hounds does! The staff were very friendly and helpful. It was Sunday evening so "limited" to mostly roast meals so my heart sank a bit. I chose roast chicken because it included part of a leg and my wife chose sirloin beef. the roast chicken was superb and my wife effectively got a huge, high quality steak. Brilliant food and a very pleasant evening.
