The Havelock Tavern
Absolutely excellent ! I used to come here years ago and it’s still superb! Thank you
I come here a lot and the food can be a bit hit and miss. This time it was a big HIT!
We stay in this area of London every 2 or 3 years and we eat at this pub at least twice a week while we are here. It’s that good.
Great food !
Exellent Food and friendly staff! Can recommed espeially sunday roast!
The havelock is showing signs of laziness. Needs to look after cask ales better and offer a broader range. I’ve never met anyone who likes Green King IPA. The service charge is too high when the customer pays at the bar. Food still good quality but fish needs to come with something substantial for the price not offered as an extra.
Service is great, very accommodating. Yummy bread. My Nan has been going to this pub for lunch for years, her health has stuffered over the past few years and they make her feel safe and welcome.
I have been coming here for over 20 years and I always like the ambience and service. My only complaint is that they don't do many vegetarian dishes so I often end up having the cheese plate or a number of side dishes of vegetables for dinner.
Nice place with tasty food - busy pub so a little noisy but generally a good atmosphere
Lovely food, great friendly efficient service. Relaxed, quality place to catch up with friends
Brilliant Sunday roast, enjoyed by all. Short ribs were exceptional.
Lovely neighbourhood pub with great food and excellent choice of beers and wine.
This is my favorite pub in all of London. The food never disappoints, there are always a couple of great cask ales on tap, and the staff is very friendly: they treat everyone like a local. Service can be a little slow at times when it’s busy but it’s such a great room it’s hard to care.
Really lovely neighbourhood pub. No frills food, which always hits the spot. Lovely service and added bonus of dogs wandering around inside.
I have eaten at this establishment four times, always on a Saturday lunchtime. It is excellent, and I am always pleased to return. The food is of a very high standard - it fits the designation "gastropub" very well. The range of craft beers has always been good, too. Very friendly service, obviously keen to make the customer happy. Highly recommended.
The Havelock has been my “local”!gastropub
since I moved to West London in 2012. It has consistently provided the best food in this general area. Friends visiting from neighbouring Kensington or further east always ask that we go to the Havelock.
The menu is deep and varied; the wine list
contains a variety of wines at different prices point, and the lay out is such that
private conversations can easily be had. The clientele includes a range of age groups
and both small groups and couples. It is one of the more enjoyable nights out in this area.
Bit of a shame, really. The mains took a long while to arrive - once they did, the roast chicken was a good size and the veg nicely done, but there really wasn't much taste at all, and the dish was extremely dry (had to ask for gravy twice before some was brought - as none came with it..). Not hideously expensive by any stretch, but certainly felt more expensive than it should have been...
Arrived at restaurant for a 5pm booking . Told kitchen was closed til 5.30 with no explanation.Told waitress we were in a hurry as had a train to catch Finally got meal at 6pm . Had to leave at 6.30 for train .Not very happy
I really like the Havelock, and I love the food but unfortunately they had a big table and we had to wait an hour for our food! I don’t think they should allow big groups if they can’t manage the orders! Nevertheless I always love going there !
Admirably short menu; experience shows that the shorter the menu in pub restaurants, the better the food. This proved to be the case. Excellent, friendly attentive service. Noise level dropped later in the evening as early bird diners left. We were a party of four and three of us ordered the same main course. Strangely one of the mains was tepid but the other two were at absolutely the right temperature. The tepid one was returned for the attention of the microwave and was swiftly returned. Apart from that, an overall good dining experience and we shall return.
Excellent food and great service. The perfect place to go for supper. The fire was lit, the atmosphere was vibrant but not too noisy to hear each other.
Always a pleasure to go to the Havelock. The food is outstanding the awards testify this, so don't miss this opportunity to have freshly cooked food with a menu that changes twice a day.
The staff are always smiling, although it can be a tinge bit busy for them, and provide a very good service.
It can be a bit noisy but all in all I recommend highly you go there for a meal.
Said it before and I’ll say it again. London’s best gastropub! Jason and the whole team are exceptional.
Best gastropub food in London.
Great little find for our weekend in London. Love my Onglet (hanger steak) with thousand island dressing, followed by Tonka Bean cream; though I would recommend the chef remove the stone from the plum. Lovely ambiance & the staff were really friendly & the right amount of attentive. My only gripe is the yapping dogs, of which there were 2 and might put me off re-visiting. I have nothing against them, but would prefer not to hear them during an evening out celebrating our anniversary.
Came to this haven after a crowded visit to the Ideal Home Christmas Show, 5 mins away. Delicious food, generous portions and reasonable wine list.
Excellent service and wine. Beautiful surroundings as always. Slightly let down by the food though...
Great food and ambience, worth booking in advance.
Very good Sunday roast, very busy but service pretty good. Would definitely recommend and return to.
The Havelock was great for a catch-up dinner with friends from out of town who were looking to try good pub food without the tourist trap. The food was delicious, fresh, and beautifully cooked. However my only "complaint" (and I use that word hesitantly) is that they only had one ale on tap. This has routinely happened to my partner and I at this pub, and it's annoying but not a "deal-breaker" as it where. If you're keen to guarantee a decent ale selection then this might not be the place for you, but if you want great pub food then it's a MUST.
Perfect Sunday lunch with family and friends! Food was brilliant as ever, quick efficient and friendly service.
Food usually good but on this occasion the pasta was undercooked Rather than ‘al dente ‘ so we were immediately offered - after complaining -the same dish recooked. Sadly this was exactly the same.
Pudding was delicious.
Fabulous - as always. Great services and tip top staff !
Delicious food. Attentive staff. They could improve their choice of beers but you come here for the food
Wonderful as always! Staff very accommodating of our baby too.
I have been going to the Havelock Tavern since I moved to the neighbourhood near Kensington Olympia more than 10 years ago. It has consistently provided the best dining experience in the West Kensington area with beautifully prepared food,: featuring a wide variety of tasty game and seafood dishes, attentive and friendly service and a relaxeed, pleasant atmosphere. Lunch is particularly enjoyable since there tends to be far fewer people. Reservations are accepted, which is a good idea on busy nights, Wednesday through Saturday. The Havelock has for some time set the culinary standard in West Kensington/Hammersmith. I highly recommend.
I’m on crutches and getting around is difficult but the bar staff could not have been more accommodating and were very friendly! The service was superb. The food is excellent with a few twist on some classics and some key ingredients I needed to look up but improved each dish.
Lunch with the in-laws on a sunny Saturday...Havelock SMASHED it to pieces. bring me more black pudding.
Great as usual! Food was tasty, choice was really nice, a tad noisy but well it's a pub!
Four of us there for the London Book Fair - excellent meal, good beer choices. It was loud and very busy, which made for loud conversations; we were almost shouting at times, but it quieted down as the evening wore on. Service was excellent, especially considering how busy it was.
