We wouldn’t normally leave any negative feedback but we were slightly dissapointed after our last visit. Admittedly this is our first visit this year but we were very much looking forward to it. Appreciate that pricing often needs to be reviewed but the increase on Sunday lunch is a huge jump to prior prices. Although the meat was excellent the roast potatoes were hard and the veg offer wasn’t as good. Due to the price increase we may have to visit less and consider elsewhere for family catch ups.
Good meal thanks
They had run out of the roast lamb (friend’s 1st choice), roast chicken (friend’s 2nd choice) - disappointing. My burger was very average, not much flavour. It’s a shame as it’s a lovely looking pub.
Service was very good despite being very busy. Food was amazing and the location of our table and ambience was perfect for a nice meal indoors whilst stormy outside.
We took a chance on Saturday night 15th February because storm Dennis was wreaking havoc across Britain. We had heard mumbling's about The Hawk from some friends and family so had to give it a go. I am so glad we did. It was a bit quiet when we arrived but we had booked an early (6pm) table, we were shown to our table immediately, drinks ordered and served we looked over the food men, now I'm not a great one for a starter but I chose the shredded Duck with Hoisin sauce dip, it was delicious. My wife had King prawns with garlic mayo again she thought it was wonderful. In the mains I had Rib Eye steak which was cooked to perfection just the way I liked it, quite hard to do with such a large piece of meat, triple cooked chips and lovely baby tomatoes on the vine, my wife enjoyed venison with black pudding mash and salad. Throughout all this the table service was immaculate, the only downside to the meal was, we had eaten so much we couldn't manage a sweet. A wonderful evening with a fantastic meal. Thank you, we will be back. Tom Murphy
Lovely atmosphere with little finishing touches on the tables. Food was well presented and tasted great. Staff were friendly and were happy to find answers to our questions. All in all we had a lovely Valentines evening. Always a good place to go and eat.
This is the second meal we have had at The Hawk and it did not disappoint.
Staff are friendly without being overly attentive. We had the 3 course valentines menu and it was all super delicious!
My favourite being the hot chocolate fondant pudding with mini magnum and delicious compote cherries.... divine :)
We love the Hawk, it’s a lovely comfy country inn with great food and friendly staff. Our most recent visit though was a bit disappointing on the service front. It was pretty busy but no more than usual, Staff numbers may have been down, there’s normally at least 3 people whizzing about but that night it was one server plus a chap that covers the bar as well. It was fine if a little slow until our mains were finished, we were then left with dirty plates for over 30 mins, despite trying to catch our servers attention. After 10 mins she did come over, we ordered 2 pints for the chaps, expecting a) plates to be cleared and b) pudding menus and coffee to be offered. Instead she cleared nothing and 20 minutes later we were still waiting for drinks/plate clearing/pudding menus. We then went to find her to cancel the beer and get the bill. We had to ask for the beer to be taken off the bill, though drinks were brought over 5 minutes after that, with apologies and no charge. Still left me with no drink after 35 minutes. I know, #first world problem and I could have gone to the bar, but not the point really is it ? If that had been our first visit it’s unlikely we would have returned. The food and ambience can be excellent, but it doesn’t count if the service can’t keep up. We still absolutely recommend the Hawk, but please, duty manager, check the service.
This is a lovely country pub, situated in a quiet Hampshire village. Plenty of parking available. Our second visit, the first one was just before Christmas. The service, and food are excellent. Two minor comments, it is quite dark, and on our second visit the food took a while to arrive. Otherwise all is perfect and we will return for a third visit. We meet friends for lunch as it is a halfway point for us all!
Absolutely no complaints, food was perfect and we felt very well looked after throughout the evening. Good value for money and exceptional service. Highly recommend.
Disappointed, went there a year ago it was awesome, £26 for a gristly rib eye steak, left 3/4 of it waitress never even asked if there was a problem, let a love was food ok generally. Service was very slow. No plans to return. A real shame
A lovely little gastro pub with a nice atmosphere and lovely service. Just what we wanted for slightly different/special Sunday lunch.
A warm welcome and the food very good especially as two of us are vegetarians.
Most impressed with the vegan menu a pleasant change from most places only having one or two choices.
The atmosphere was good with a lovely lounge setting for people dropping in for a casual business meeting at the same time a local drinkers pub not just a foody pub.
Booking went well and we had a nice quiet table for two just as we requested. Service was very friendly, atmosphere relaxed. Food was excellent!
Would recommend for lunch, as I have enjoyed the lunch menu several times. Dinner on Saturday was poor, though. Staff were fine, ambience good, starters were nice. However, the pork belly was really poor and vegetables tasteless. The duck was a bit better
Excellent as always
The Hawk Inn provided an excellent meeting place for a lunch and across our group of 7 everyone enjoyed the meal and the outstanding service provided. I definitely recommend the Hawk to friends and colleges.
We had a very pleasant evening. The menu was varied with plenty of choice. The Food was tasty and well presented. Staff were attentive and we didn’t have long to wait for our food, even though we didn’t have a starter. The Bakewell tart was delicious and the coffee served finished off well a lovely evening. We will return.
Food was fab but heating wasnt working and service was pretty slow considering the number of serving staff.
Lovely Sunday evening dinner during that strange time between Christmas and New Year. The pub was busy but not packed, the staff showed us to our table took our drinks order and left us some menus.
The roast beef was enormous, and all our meals arrived promptly.
The only disappointment was the wine we ordered was not currently offered by the supplier. Other than that we had a lovely relaxed evening with friends.
A most enjoyable lunch where quality and presentation of the food was to a high standard. Did not like 10% service charge being automatically added to the bill. Certainly will return.
The atmosphere is always good and the food is as it says on the tin - not fussy. Would be nice to see some new things on the menu occasionally, and service at the table always seems to be a weak point.
We had a very enjoyable meal. The food was excellent and the portions were very generous. We'll definitely be back! Yummy 😋
Last minute booking for Sunday lunch which was absolutely delicious. Staff were extremely attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend and will definitely be returning very soon.
Nice atmosphere. Good service and great food. After dinner cocktails were excellent. Would definitely return
The pub was recommended by friends in the area. 5 of us had an excellent meal there. The only small comment would be that the waitress did not seem to know which or anything about the gins you served, which in the current climate of artisan gins would seem reasonably important!
Pleasant environment and service were good. Menu drifting toward standard pub fare rather than exciting or adventurous but that could reflect the nature of the customers
Booking was an easy process , service and food was of a great standard
We all rnejoyed our meal, but thought that the drinks were too expensive
Had the most amazing Sunday roast dinner . It was excellent value
Thank you for a lovely family Sunday Lunch. Excellent food and service. Congratulations to the Team once again 👍
Friendly staff in a warm country pub, great menu and the food was good value for money.
Great food and price, lovely evening with friends. Staff attentive and friendly
Very easy booking process. In a nice quiet area of pub. Food was good, but disappointed by slow service. we went looking for staff to say we were ready to order, Perhaps not enough staff for a busy Saturday night? nice menu with enough choice. a bit disappointed with the brownie & pecan tart dessert.
Very good booking service. Very happy with the whole experience.
A very pleasant but nevertheless busy pub.
As this was our first visit on a Sunday lunch time we were glad we booked the table.
Service was good until the waiter asked if we wanted the dessert menu, which never arrived in a reasonable time so we left without having dessert.
Top notch food, absolutely delicious. Great selection of wine to accompany. Overall a very warm and friendly pub with great at atmosphere and friendly staff.
Lovely pub with fabulous food. Would highly recommend to others and worth trying out.
Great service, good beer and food. Highly recommended.
Excellent food. Attentive staff. We will be back without a doubt!
