Loved it. The team were great. Food & drinks delish
Upstairs bar is lovely - especially on a damp cold weekend. Couldn’t recommend it enough.
I could not make a reservation at The Fat Duck (which is Heston’s signature restaurant) so this is conveniently way cheaper. The entrée was exquisite (Oxtail pudding). The only thing I would complain about is the freshness of the dessert (Blueberry Trifle). It was not made that day, I could taste that. For the rest, it is excellent value for the money.
The place has a lovely peaceful atmosphere, excellent service and amazing traditional food!
We enjoyed a special lunch to celebrate my wife’s birthday. Our little daughter (16 months) also enjoyed herself very much, especially her lovely book given by the waiting staff - a very nice touch indeed! Bravo!
Great food. Very slow to organise our drinks order on arrival. Asked to pay the bill twice!
A bit of a disappointment for a Michelin starred establishment. Menu was quite limited in choices. Food ordered was of good quality although presentation was uninspiring and lacking flair and panache. Service was unremarkable, although the sommelier was very knowledgable and helpful. Overall felt like a good pub rather than a Michelin stared restaurant and hence was expensive in comparative terms.
Lovely as always, thank you! Excellent service and delicious food. A wonderful way to celebrate our anniversary. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
We were celebrating my daughter and son in laws wedding anniversary.
The scotch egg is a must have. We had Hash of snails, Smoked salmon and Crab sandwich with soup to start. 2 of us had Steak and 1 had Oxtail and kidney pudding, they were large portions served with very rich sauce. We were full by the time we ordered dessert but felt like we couldn’t finish the evening without trying one each.
Wine that we chose to go along with our meal was excellent too.
The waiting staff were very informative and attentive but not overly so.
My daughter and son in law were given an anniversary card which was a really nice touch.
Amazing food, amazing service. Pretty pricey but worth it.
Amazing food lovely quality. Made son feel special on his birthday. It’s a bit expensive and thought it was tad mean to charge £5 supplement for changing my starter course of the roast set menu.
Overall lovely experience.
Worst meal we have had in a long time. Was expecting much much more. Ruined my wives birthday celebrations. Staff even knew how bad the meal was by removing the steak from the bill along with one of the bottles of wine without us if asking them too.
Food price for what was served really not acceptable for the quality of the food.
All lovely but a bit quiet for a Friday except for us.
High end dining with great service in beautiful Old building. Food was sensational
Excellent service and food mind-blowingly good
Can't wait to go back
Lovely service and truly delicious food. We had the Sunday roast and it was tasty and filling. I don’t know how I managed 3 courses as the servings were plentiful. Such a quaint venue in a beautiful village. Will definitely go back!
Very good service, my wife and my sister-in-law loved all their food but my oxtail and kidney pudding was too salty and it ruined my overall experience. Considering the price and reputation, I’ve been let down and I won’t be back anytime soon. The wine was quite good but barely worth its price.
Good food Good wine Good Service every time without fail ever over the last 5 plus years
As my 5th time here Hinds Head is hard to fault. Started off with the scotch egg as usual followed by the ham and pea soup.
Seasonal dishes were great, we had the tomato salad, crab sandwich, smoked salmon, ribeye, stone bass, strawberry trifle, pineapple cheesecake and millionaire shortbread. All the dishes were fab.
As we had a late lunch (4pm) it was very quiet so not much of an atmosphere. After the first 10 mins, we didnt really notice as we enjoyed our food and enjoyed time as a group of 3.
A great afternoon.
A real treat - I think at £47 for the roast but superb would have to have a choice of desert. More casual than I had thought - my husband disappointed he wasn’t dressed more casually. Will definitely return - next time with friends!
Incredible surroundings, fantastic food, amazing service, topped off with an anniversary card signed by everyone at the hinds head celebrating our 10 years of marriage.
Very disappointed with not great food and a poor service.
We have been for lunch on a number of occasions. This was our first visit for dinner. Although the food was superb as always I would say lunch is better value as the restaurant is not formal enough in my view for dinner at these prices.
If you want to experience a menu with quirky outstanding recipes then this is a good place to do that. Service is friendly and impeccable.
If you like gastro pub dining then I have been to better places such as the Coach in Marlow and the Oxford blue in Windsor both had a better atmosphere than here. Although the food was good I feel that the actual pub lacked atmosphere and fun. It's a real shame as I'm sure it could be a great place instead of an average one
The Hind’s Head is still my favourite restaurant in the U.K. and has been since I first came here over 15 years ago. Amazing food, wonderful service and I love that they keep me coming back and leaving completely happy!
Great friendly staff
A few tables weren’t taken. Very sad. I don’t know why cos it was a truly great experience
Poor quality drinks, needed to be remade.
Average quality food.
Slow service, even while quiet.
Main dishes came out at different times.
£7.50 was taken off the bill for the delays (1.6% of total)
£50 added to the bill for “service”.
Poor response to a more thorough feedback email.
Far better food and service in other restaurants in the area.
Great food well presented with attentive staff . Menu is well balanced English fare at its best
Given its Michelin star I was expecting something a bit extra. The food we were served was tasty but underwhelming, and could have had the same elsewhere for half the price. Great cocktails and we enjoyed the Lounge bar but the restaurant where we were seated was distinctly lacking in atmosphere, and was very hushed to extent we felt awkward and spoke with lowered voices.
A perfect table was waiting for us following a request on our booking. The waiting staff were plentiful and all very friendly and extremely competent and knowledgeable. Thoroughly recommend the crab soup and sandwich (See photo) and the pineapple cheesecake was divine.
this was our second visit, food was lovely a ever but maybe £50 per head is a tiny bit pricy for a Sunday lunch, will be back tho, no doubt
Great 15th century pub, serving Michelin experience food. Outstanding service with polite and well prepared staff. Would Need to refurbish the bathrooms, old and not at the level.
Incredible food and service. We always take overseas guests and they are always impressed. Just need a chocolate dessert on the menu again!
The food was excellent the service was very good. The staff were very polite and couldn’t do enough for us. The whole experience was amazing I can’t wait to go back to the Hinds head.
Superb food, lovely building with eclectic decor and exceptional service. Bit pricey compared to similar quality cuisine in the area, and a bit slow to get the first drink ordered after we had been shown to the upstairs lounge for a pre-dinner drink. Toilets could’ve been a bit cleaner and would’ve preferred to be seated away from them. But it is a small venue with a cosy atmosphere.
We enjoyed every minute the food was great and the drinks were great.
The table/space a little narrow but all the rest great.
Outstanding the service (Ander)!
Service was fantastic, my wife had a cocktail she didn’t really like after it was recommended and they agreed to knock it off the bill. She was also given a little cake and birthday card. The pub itself is very quiet so atmosphere lacking a little but this is really the only fault I can find.
The Hinds Head is a beautiful building with a welcoming interior. We had a warm welcome, we’re given time to choose, advice and courteous service. The food was exquisite. We loved the whole experience. It isn’t that cheap but is reasonable. The only downside was the noise, or lack thereof. I didn’t want a disco but it was like a library. A wonderful place- please try it.
