Good food and excellent service. Would recommend it as long as you’re prepared to pay the somewhat inflated prices because of the ‘personality’ owner!
The Restaurant was great i though the entire menu was far too heavy and some lighter options on the menus would be great , however is that time of the year. By the time the main course arrived i did not want to see more gravy.
Dessert was different very tasty.
Service was good will come back in the spring once the menu lightens up a bit!
Very disappointed with the Hinds Head. The food was simplistic, though of good quality. The cost was expensive, but the setting was pretty dreadful. Sat next to the door, next to the bar. Every time the door opened a freezing cold blast of air shot across our table, followed by people near to our table.
For the cost - not really worth it. For the location of the table - wouldn't return in case we ended up there again.
Had a lovely roast dinner at the Hinds Head. The food was incredible cooked to perfection and the roast potatoes were best I have ever had!
Simply brilliant food, service and evening. Enjoyed by all. Staff are helpful, well informed, friendly and create a relaxed excellent dinning experience!
Well worth a visit. The team make you feel welcome and relaxed. A very enjoyable experience. Will go back.
The scotch egg and mustard mayonnaise hors d'oeuvre was excellent, perfectly soft quails egg and juicy sausage meat. We then had the cauliflower cheese royale which was very enjoyable, and the monkfish a la plancha which frankly was tough and overcooked. In hindsight I wished I had sent it back as you do not expect that at a Heston restaurant when paying almost £40 for a dish. For pudding we had the chocolate wine dish with millionaire shortbread, the 'wine' was light and refreshing, the millionaire shortbread strong and rich. Very indulgent.
Great staff and food
Birthday lunch fantastic value, nice ambience plus very tasty food. This was our first visit and will most certainly not our last.
Have been here many times. Ambience good. Service good. Food very average. And one main course of monkfish had little fish. Pork tasteless. Steak over salty. We left thinking that it was one of the most disappointing yet most expensive meals that we’d had anywhere for quite a while.
Absolutely wonderful staff. Could not be more helpful and attentive, without being overly-so. The crab soup with sandwich was to die for! How you cram so much flavour into an espresso cup, is unbelievable. The fresh fennel on the sandwich, brings a relief to the deep creaminess of the soup. The duck with beetroot barley..... Duck cooked to perfection. Moist, pink and packing yet more flavour. However, the beetroot barley lacked the sweetness it needed. Quite sour and the barley was too firm. I know that this is the end of the beetroot season, so they will not be as sweet as in their height, but a longer slower cooking with the barley, should have helped here. Chocolate pudding for desert..... Just perfect. Never had such a light, oozing, creamy, fluffy pudding ever. I didn’t know this restaurant was owned by Heston until after the meal, but you can definitely see the influences, which is why I asked the staff. I’d definitely recommend trying this before going to the Fat Duck. Definitely a venue for a special occasion.
Excellent Sunday lunch as always
Best Sunday Lunch eaten out
Nothing too much trouble
Very attentive service without being over the top
As always wonderful!! The hinds head never disappoints
Fantastic Perfect Sunday lunch menu
Lovely starters. Main course (had steak) not to my liking would of preferred fillet and choice of sauce.
Superb. As it always is.
Excellent service food and surroundings Sunday roast good value for money
Avoid - very disappointing. I am amazed it still has a star
I visited the Hinds Head with my husband to celebrate my birthday. From our arrival we were both made to feel very special. The staff arrived at the table with a birthday card and at the end of the meal, the petit fours arrived with a candle and a birthday message. I must say the staff were very professional and friendly, as you would expect from a first class restaurant. The food was delicious, faultless and very good value for money. Fantastic experience, thank you
What a pub! Has everything you need to make it the perfect place for a special occasion! The service was exceptional and everyone was very friendly! Excellent all round and would highly recommend.
Loved it. The team were great. Food & drinks delish
Upstairs bar is lovely - especially on a damp cold weekend. Couldn’t recommend it enough.
I could not make a reservation at The Fat Duck (which is Heston’s signature restaurant) so this is conveniently way cheaper. The entrée was exquisite (Oxtail pudding). The only thing I would complain about is the freshness of the dessert (Blueberry Trifle). It was not made that day, I could taste that. For the rest, it is excellent value for the money.
The place has a lovely peaceful atmosphere, excellent service and amazing traditional food!
We enjoyed a special lunch to celebrate my wife’s birthday. Our little daughter (16 months) also enjoyed herself very much, especially her lovely book given by the waiting staff - a very nice touch indeed! Bravo!
Great food. Very slow to organise our drinks order on arrival. Asked to pay the bill twice!
A bit of a disappointment for a Michelin starred establishment. Menu was quite limited in choices. Food ordered was of good quality although presentation was uninspiring and lacking flair and panache. Service was unremarkable, although the sommelier was very knowledgable and helpful. Overall felt like a good pub rather than a Michelin stared restaurant and hence was expensive in comparative terms.
Lovely as always, thank you! Excellent service and delicious food. A wonderful way to celebrate our anniversary. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
We were celebrating my daughter and son in laws wedding anniversary.
The scotch egg is a must have. We had Hash of snails, Smoked salmon and Crab sandwich with soup to start. 2 of us had Steak and 1 had Oxtail and kidney pudding, they were large portions served with very rich sauce. We were full by the time we ordered dessert but felt like we couldn’t finish the evening without trying one each.
Wine that we chose to go along with our meal was excellent too.
The waiting staff were very informative and attentive but not overly so.
My daughter and son in law were given an anniversary card which was a really nice touch.
Amazing food, amazing service. Pretty pricey but worth it.
Amazing food lovely quality. Made son feel special on his birthday. It’s a bit expensive and thought it was tad mean to charge £5 supplement for changing my starter course of the roast set menu.
Overall lovely experience.
Worst meal we have had in a long time. Was expecting much much more. Ruined my wives birthday celebrations. Staff even knew how bad the meal was by removing the steak from the bill along with one of the bottles of wine without us if asking them too.
Food price for what was served really not acceptable for the quality of the food.
All lovely but a bit quiet for a Friday except for us.
Brilliant as ever
High end dining with great service in beautiful Old building. Food was sensational
Excellent service and food mind-blowingly good
Can't wait to go back
Lovely service and truly delicious food. We had the Sunday roast and it was tasty and filling. I don’t know how I managed 3 courses as the servings were plentiful. Such a quaint venue in a beautiful village. Will definitely go back!
Very good service, my wife and my sister-in-law loved all their food but my oxtail and kidney pudding was too salty and it ruined my overall experience. Considering the price and reputation, I’ve been let down and I won’t be back anytime soon. The wine was quite good but barely worth its price.
