Very good restaurant
2nd time I've been here and received below par service for a place with a noted reputation. Starts well with a lovely chap escorting you to the table but then the standard of service from everyone else falls short. Took 15 minutes to receive an orange juice and a coffee, came separately a few minutes apart, genuinely forgot I'd ordered one when it turned up. Didn't receive a stirring spoon with coffee, asked for one twice, had to stir in sugar with the knife in the end. Took near 25 minutes before a food order was taken. Food very average, orange juice tasted watered down. Didn't pay the 12.5% service charge. Won't be going back
Very poor meal indeed. Fish and chips batter was very unhealthy and overly
greasy. Not the normal standard associated with you. The chips were also way over done. The waiter removed them from the bill, which I am grateful for.
We also wanted the garden for my girlfriends birthday. We booked for 9:15 and on arrival was told last orders in the garden are 7:45.
Copied from the website - We will do our best to accommodate all table requests, however tables are allocated on arrival and cannot be guaranteed.
Went to the Ivy for my birthday, no special effort was made despite it being put on the booking form. Ordered bread for the table and a starter. The starter came before the bread which I found odd to not wait so this could be served before or at least together. It eventually arrived with the mains. When ordering my main I was asked ‘are you sure?’ When requesting a sauce that was with another main which I found rude. We were given the desert menu but no one came to ask if we wanted anything for over 10 minutes so the bill was asked for. They did not remove the bread from the bill which I expected after waiting so long for it. The food was delicious but the service ruined the evening.
It was our anniversary and all the staff made it a special night!! Many thanks!
After booking a month previous to our lunch and requesting a table in the garden we were given one on the enclosed terrace. Our table was in the sun and as it was enclosed was extremely hot and uncomfortable. We asked 3 different staff if we could move as there were some spare tables in the shade and they all said no as it’s not their policy! In the end after speaking to the manager they eventually moved us to the garden after our lunch. I have been going to the main Ivy in Covent Garden for years and a lot of the brasseries recently, unfortunately this experience was VERY disappointing.
It was, as always - a great experience. 4 - stars simply due to some things on the menu being quite good with others not being that special...
On the other hand - despite repeated requests we were seated by the main entrance instead of by the garden or its surroundings...
Very good restaurant in Chelsea. Fantastic the food. Very cool the ambience.
we were given a table in the smoking area, or beside smokers, we never said we smoked, so did not appreciate the placement. The table was uneven and kept shaking.Food was great, service was good. Thank you.
Excellent, thank you.
Great space, food and service. The GM runs a great operation. Impressive.
Excellent cocktails and aps- mains too. Fish and chips, steak, fish, pasta are all great. Chocolate desert also excellent. Truffle fries are a must.
Only drawback: every visit, the hostess stand ladies are unnecessarily snotty and rude. There’s a gracious way, and a b|+<#¥ way, to ask if one has a booking. Sadly, every time, the ladies at the front choose a less than gracious way to welcome guests- both those with and without a reservation.
Great place, love it here!
Food was lovely, drinks were so nice!
The setting is just amazing! Feel like your eating at a very expensive restaurant but with a low key vibe (and low prices!!)
Best Dover Sole I have ever had , advance booking for my Wife’s 60th Birthday, we were given a poor seat and when asked for a better seat we were dismissed.
That was disappointing.
It was meant to be a special day having come a long way from Australia.
I think it’s the best Ivy in the world!! Always great atmosphere but you can still hear each other. Food is fresh, clean, tasty and well presented. There’s something for everyone.
had the most amazing time here for my birthday, food, service and the garden setting was absolutely perfect. Thank you so much x
My second time here in a month! I love this place. Beautiful decor, food is wonderful. Service is great. Highly recommend going during the flower show because the outside is decorated in all flowers!
When I made a booking I asked for nice and romantic table for two , as I mention it will be our anniversary dinner. We get table inside of the restaurant just in the middle where was lots of different tables - in more quiet area. Food was lovely, service was good as well, had a nice time . So will definitely recommend it to everyone.
Pleasant dining experience, with excellent service. However, I booked this place for my sister's birthday and was disappointed that they had taken their outdoor flower wall down, and then was furthermore disappointed that we could not have our afternoon tea in the garden area at the back as it was for drinks only. It's a shame, given it was such a nice day and the atmosphere was more vibrant around there. The main dining area felt somewhat dark and a little gloomy given that we had our tea at off peak time and there weren't many diners present. Food wise, the scones and teas were delicious. Unfortunately not great for vegetarians as all my mum got was soggy cucumber sandwiches (only other option was avocado, so not a great deal of choice ) . Overall, would probably go back, but this time for drinks.
It’s great but the service it was very very slow
Read a view bad reviews about the service but was very pleasantly surprised. We were served quickly, always friendly. Food was delicious and the garden is gorgeous. Would definitely recommend sitting outside if you can.
We requested for garden seat but not available. I will try next time.
An amazing first time experience! Surpassed expectations on the brunch menu ..... highly recommend for a good brunch with cocktails with exceptional service from every member of the Ivy team thank you.
Excellent food, the garden is spectacular, and the portions are decent sizes, which is harder and harder to find these days (small bites to share is the very definition of oxymoron). The service was a bit slow, but it's not the kind of place were you should go in hurry, especially if you manage to grab a seat in the garden.
Took my mother for brunch. She was visiting from Manchester so wanted to take her somewhere nice. When we were sat to our table staff were all over the place and quiet. 20 minutes after being seated we ordered our starters mains and drinks. We had to ask for the air con to be switched on as it was 30 degrees and with the garden open it was sweltering in there. We started on our starter then our mains were brought out half way through. The minute my fork hit the plate as I finished my started our mains were brought straight away without request. We asked for the sauce to be kept separate in one of the dishes and when we questioned if it was the waiter snapped with an attitude that was even more sour than the iced tea I had. When I went to the toilet no member of staff stopped to let me through and barged past me as they needed to get somewhere more urgently than I did. Overall terrible dining experience. Been to 4 ivy restaurants and this Ruined the chain. Avoid like the plague. The garden does t even photo well for Instagram.
Brilliant friendly perfect service and excellent choice of food and drink. The food delicious and house wine excellent. The chocolate bomb desert is amazing and delicious. The restaurant is beautifully set out. We were lucky to be seated in the conservatory area with the roof open. The garden is fantastic and has a lot more tables and chairs than previous visits. The end area of the garden has its own bar so perfect on a hot sunny day.
This is my favourite of the Ivy restaurants and will be back.
Lovely meal but extremely hot, air con didn’t seem to be working
Such an incredible place to come and dine! Food is incredible! The most spectacular thing about this place is the detail. Staff go above and beyond for customers. I cannot describe how incredible it is to watch the staff doing their thing. The bar supervisor Mihai, is incredible!!!!! He goes above and beyond for customers and staff. He focuses on showing even the smaller details of the drink to provide the best experience. David who was a new employee was incredible. He described drinks and new exactly what he was doing!!!!! Thank you for an incredible time.
My overall rating above is from previous visits, I was told there was no booking under my name on my last visit
Everything was lovely until someone lit up a cigarette on the next table while we were eating. We were outside in the courtyard and no one told us this was a smoking area. Nowhere on their website do they say it’s a smoking area.
The bald waiter was rude and couldn't treat us as kindly as he was behaving to white English guests which was noticeable. The host who took our tab was rude and when I wanted to drinknfrim a wine glass he made a rude snide comment as he walked off. I just found it disgusting if I may.
The food was excellent as always but for fist time the service was very slow not enough floor staff . Took 45 minute for the waiter to take our order . But overall it was good .
I chose this restaurant to celebrate an anniversary with my girlfriend specifically stating that I would like to be seated in the Outdoor area of the restaurant. However, upon my arrival I was told this would not be possible despite there being empty tables outside. Having been sat down in the main part of the restaurant, we ordered some cocktails to arrive before the food. 40 minutes later, there was no sign of the cocktails and we had received no attention to order food or any further drinks. When a member of staff appeared to ask if we were ready to order food finally, I was told that the cocktail I had ordered was no longer available, no apology was received for this. The cocktails then arrived shortly before starters were pulled out which was not my plan for the evening with the intention to order wine. Overall the food was very good but the evening was tarnished by such a terrible first hour which was completely avoidable.
Lovey service and a nice vibe, a great dinning experience 😊
Unfortunately this time extremely disappointed with the food, i regularly eat here but my friend and i both ordered steak and both very disappointed
Horrific service, left for over half an hour with no menus, had to ask multiple times to order, moved three times, given the wrong cocktails, realised after tasting then the waiter put them on a different table. Had to tell waiter!!! Witnessed an argument between waiters. Overall poor and customer service really not good enough for the ivy.
Food good, service friendly and helpful but very slow
The waitress was rude, didn’t bring a second spoon for the dessert even though I asked twice.
Maybe she was taking more tables than she could and she seemed in a bad mood.
What a shame!
Appalling. So many rules, the garden opens at midday so if you arrive at midday but you booked a table at 11:45 you won’t be given a table outside. Our friend who was joining later couldn’t even reach the door because the queue to reach the hopeless hostess was out the door. The chicken tasted microwaved. Never. Going. Again. So many chavs taking pictures of each other outside too.
Service was slow and needed prompting. Scrambled eggs bit dry. However overall enjoyed the experience and would go back
As always good fun.But-when booked for 8 ,we meant pm but confirmation came through as am-did not look at the confirmation for some while, when noticed managed to change time.
Waiter got our order mixed up,& so a long wait.Gave us a credit on pre drinks.
Overall we prefer the back of the restaurant.
