Spectacular setting with service and cuisine to match. We were lucky enough to get a table in the conservatory, with the sun shining it was brilliant. We arrived too early to be in the garden but can only imagine what it's like to sit out there with friends in summer. 10/10. Will be back!
Really nice venue, bar service a bit slow but otherwise very enjoyable
Poor greeting and made to wait too long for our table. Some staff walking around doing nothing. Had to wait ages for the bill.
Had the opportunity to sit in the garden which was great. The service was friendly but slow. The food was very good. My scallops as a starter were delicious and the black cod was full of flavour.
Waiters are rude and make faces when you ask them for things
Good local restaurant with varied menu, well presented. Relaxed, with good service. Food arrives promptly and although not exactly adventurous, there are enough choices to suit everyone. The garden is a pleasant spot to enjoy a meal on sunny days.
Good was good, wine was great, service could have been better but the thing that is annoying is that the table is only for 2 hours and you are asked to leave after that. This could be changed to even 2 and a half hours as it feels rushed every time I go. Otherwise everything else is good.
Lovely restaurants friendly staff lovely setting in the garden food presentation good and overall well worth returning to
We had a great time although all the garden tables were occupied so we ate (lunch) in the main restaurant. Staff were charming and food was good apart from the Burrata salad which was more of a collection of raw veg than a constructed dish. Plain courgette shavings are fairly bland and uninteresting! Tempura prawns delicious though.
Wonderful as always. Great food. Great service. And great vibe. Thank you.
Service betterbthan i expected after reading reviews .
Environment is lovely.
Food was very good
Everything was perfect. We alsı enjoyed the place of the table as well. Thank you very much.
Service attentive ,ambience and setting lovely but the food very average and over priced . Standard of food far removed from that of the original Ivy.
Nice atmosphere and decor, good food, highly recommended.
It was great
I’ve been living in the area for the past 15 years. Ivy Chelsea Gardens owns one of the nicest open spaces in Chelsea; it used to be somewhere where people could enjoy the sunshine and socialize. Not any more, it’s almost impossible to be seated in the garden area.
The restaurant is way too busy and it’s turning into a tourist attraction. As a result the service has suffered and it’s way below average. It takes ages to be seated and the service is very slow with many mistakes. I used to love this garden, i’m very sad not to be able to enjoy it any more.
3 years since our wedding at the Chelsea Town Hall, my wife and I returned again to celebrate. Still a beautiful setting, now enhanced by a fantastic floral display to the front, the continued theme present throughout. We had a delicious meal and beautiful glass of red, spoiled only (entertained really) by our neighbouring diner's outrage as to the presentation of his Singapore Sling. He eventually coached the barman to make his drink (which looked more like a Tom Collins, but who am I to say).
Feeling more embarrassed for his date, we slipped out giggling, ready to return again soon.
Restaurant had a great ambience and food was divine. However, I was a little bit disappointed that we were not able to be seated outside, (not the main garden, the outdoor area before) as it was my birthday and a lovely day for it.
The ambience is charming, the building and service is delightful. However as a vegan there were no options other than a salad. I would love to see a more comprehensive vegan and vegetarian menu. If they provided this I would definitely return but currently i would not bother again.
Lovely place to sit and have afternoon tea, felt relaxed and not rushed.
Everything was lovely-why on earth do they still use plastic straws?
I found that unacceptable in today’s world
Reception staff not friendly on arrival at all, did not feel welcome
Delicius food and faboulous place . The restaurant was full of beautiful people.
Great location & decor. Decent service level. Good vibe. BUT atrocious food! Wouldn't take them much to improve the quality of the food.
Lovely dinner at the Ivy. The whole restaurant is beautifully presented and our waiter was an absolute delight. Would highly recommend
A wonderful experience; fantastic service, ambiance and cuisine.
Great restaurant, friendly staff..!!, very easy to book with this site....👍👍👍
This was our second visit in one month, both for a special occasion. The food both times was excellent, along with the service and seating. Such a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, all round super afternoon.
They never give a table where you want , even when you book weeks before. No more excuses please
Our experience was ruined by being told from the minute that we got there that we only had til 10pm before we had to leave our table, our booking was at 8:30pm.
I appreciate you have to close the terrace at 10, but being told repeatedly every time we had a drink or a course brought over that we had only such and such time left.
And then told that it was now or never to order a dessert (my other half was in the toilet) at the time so couldn’t ask him what he would like, so therefore didn’t order dessert, was rather annoying.
Have been to the Ivy Chelsea Garden many times for lunch, always good. This was my first visit in the evening. Food and service both very good, good choice on the menu & good atmosphere. will be back.
Great atmosphere. Food is a bit dull and not tasteful. Great service!!
Love Love Love The Ivy! We feel at home there, the staff are sweethearts, the food is delish and the lively ambience second to none - good for star spotting, too.
The place is nice, the bar, the menu and the location. All really nice.
Unfortunately you cannot choose the table.(at least that is what it says on opentable
The only thing that wasn't up to expectation was the service. I would have preferred a more formal approach to customers.
The food here is excellent and the décor/atmosphere wonderful. Service was not pushy yet attentive and price reasonable. My only complaint is the food choice for vegetarians is very limited for such a large menu.
They found it difficult to find us a table despite booking. Told us to sit at the bar (which we would have if there were any free seats, which there clearly wasn't so we stood waiting in a very busy area of people coming and going. After a while we thought we'd order a drink anyway, even though we weren't in the greatest spot. Just as the drinks were being served the girl came back to take us to the table. With a slightly annoyed look, she took the drinks for us - at headed straight for the back of the restaurant - about to head into the outdoor garden. She didn't ask if we wanted to be outside - given the weather had just turned at around half five in the afternoon (to the point that the bar we had just been in prior to the restaurant had decided to shut all of its windows) we doidn't want to sit outside to eat. I said we'd like to sit inside. she replied curtly telling me the table was covered (by a pergola). I said we wanted to sit inside please. she looked really annoyed, turned back round too us back to the (still full) bar and went back off WITH our drinks!
Eventually we were seated at a table that had been free all along (there wee many tables for two that were unoccupied.
The waiter was then very nice indeed. The starters were great (scallops, tempura prawns), main of Fish and chips was excellent. Chicken salad was dry as a bone but just could't be bothered complaining as we had somewhere to go and was fairly full after the prawns.
It was a mixed experience. Have been several times before to this branch as we live up the rd - and a number of times to the other branches. Clientele seems a little less chi-chi than previously, no problem there - but the level of snobbishness seemed to have gone up considerably! Strange combo.
I'd still recommend it, its a nice dining room, but they need to get back to their A-game and remind their staff that the guests are at least as important as they are!
First visit, will be back. What a fantastic destination with contrasting eating areas and with plenty of space (not sitting on top of each other) whether you are in the garden, the conservatory or the main restaurant.
Started off well, the waitress being told I have Celiac Disease(must be gluten free). When a different waiter brought cheese and biscuits,I ate the biscuits and when we enquired were the biscuits gluten free, the answer was no.I was ill the following day.
Firstly, both the food and cocktails were great and I left feeling really full!
Unfortunately, the service was really quite poor for what I was expecting. We waited 25 minutes after we'd been seated to order any drinks or food and when we did, our food arrived first which I thought was strange. After eating, we had to wait another 20 minutes for our plates to be taken away. We did choose to have another drink which turned up quite quickly but about half an hour later, we were randomly given the dessert menu meaning 40 mins after we'd eaten our main. We chose not to have a dessert and asked for the bill. This took about another 15 mins to arrive and when it did, they hadn't used to gift voucher we'd presented to them when we were seated.
Because we didn't want to wait any longer to have the bill corrected, my boyfriend ended up having to go up to the counter himself and ask them to sort. The waiter couldn't find our gift voucher and it took about another 10 mins.
It was a real shame as the venue itself is stunning and the food was great but it was impossible to get any kind of attention from our waiter without having to chase him around the restaurant. If I hadn't have had a gift voucher, I wouldn't have been happy paying the full amount.
