A lovely lunch with an old friend in a vibrant restaurant was spoiled by an over-officious waiter who made us
feel most unwelcome when my friend's son arrived. He wasn't allowed to sit (even briefly) at our table, as we were told it would upset the 'numbers.'
Unfortunately their service has not improved since they opened , which is a shame.
We went to the Ivy as it was our wedding day, the food was fabulous the service was fantastic , my whole family loved the experience and we will defiantly be back when next in London we did not want a quiet stuffy restaurant and the Ivy didn’t disappoint also great value for money.
Extremely disappointed. We waited over an hour for our food (starters) Then one dish was wrong, food over cooked and very dry. We had no apologies. By the time the main course came we had lost our appetite Very disappointed as it was my Birthday. I have always looked forward to going to the Ivy Chelsea but I don’t think I will be going back anytime soon. I did phone them when I got home but 2 days later I’m still waiting for them to phone me back. Not good customer service
Utterly wonderful, excellent food, attentive members of staff, friendly, polite, delicious
garden is beautiful - a gem in the centre of London
Amazing as always and fantastic friendly staff. I recommend the ivy breakfast. One of my all time favorite restaurants
Lovely atmosphere but I was very dissapointed with my steak tartare which was not minced correctly and had chunks of meat that did not bind well with the egg. It was very tasteless and did not have enough sauce.
I just adore this restaurant. I am never disappointed. One of my favourite places to eat on a special occasion. The staff are lovely!!!!
Food was only ok, the building and grounds were very nice. Service was hit and miss, some wait staff were great others acted like we were a burden on them.
We requested a table in the garden (we know they can't always be booked) and we were given a table right near the garden which was fab. The waiter was very attentive, friendly and efficient. The food was perfect. What more could we have asked for?
Loved the place - service, food, ambience (try getting place in garden area, it was lovely althogh it was raining as we were in the covered garden part). Highly recommended!!
Don't book the Ivy Chelsea Garden expecting the same service levels and standards of the original Ivy restaurant in West Street near Leicester Square. This is a very casual and average dining experience in my opinion that you get charged a premium price for because of the brand name and location. The garden is lovely but it does not make up for low standards. Very disappointing, however I go to the original Ivy regularly and that is always excellent, so book there instead. You need to pull your socks up Ivy Chelsea Garden - that wasn't great and we had been so looking forward to it. We felt we had got the graveyard shift and the graveyard area of the garden which probably was why our main courses were not hot enough. Perhaps the service would have been better inside the main restaurant, who knows....such a shame. The staff were very welcoming and friendly but it all seemed a bit disorganised.
This is one of the best Ivy Restaurants you will not be disappointed
I recently visited this lovely Restaurant to celebrate my 30th Birthday. Such an amazing experience. Everything was outstanding! I will definitely return!
We had a wonderful table in the garden for my pre-wedding lunch with girly friends, where we were looked after so well and had a fantastic afternoon. Thanks to the Ivy Chelsea for the fabulous food and rose, and thanks for always looking after us whenever we come to visit : -)
Really pleasant, exstreamly happy with service and food, lots of gluten free options
Gorgeous restaurant with great food. The setting was so lovely and the staff were very attentive. I will definitely be going back.
Door / reception staff were all over the place but other than that excellent all round
Food ok. Depends what you order really. Service was excellent until staff changed shifts. Thereafter we were ignored for 15 minutes until I had to practically jump up and down to get noticed. When we did attract attention we fell like we were an inconvenience. 2nd visit here but won't return.
We had another lovely time at the Ivy restaurant. The food and service were wonderful once seated.
Originally wanted to dine al fresco but it rained that day. They don’t actually try to accommodate any seating requests so we couldn’t sit in the conservatory area either. I accept it was extremely busy. There was nowhere to stand and wait for our table as bar area was packed and waiters were squeezing past. My poached egg was slightly overdone and fishcake meal a little dry. Choc bombe was slightly too sweet.
Good atmosphere, lovely decor and plants and hanging bowls.
Scones need some improvement
Quickly provided tart and candle when my daughter’s Birthday became know
The atmosphere, decor and garden are stunning and worth visiting. My Mom and I went for lunch. I ordered the crab pasta and a red Grenache and thoroughly enjoyed both. The pasta was light, with veggies and had a simple deliciousness. The waiter helped me decide between that and another dish and he had lots of knowledge about the food and wine served. My mom got a rose Grenache and the chicken salad and did not like her dish. She said the chicken was tough and the salad bland. We each ordered dessert-lemon something or other out of this world and crem brûlée which she enjoyed along with the heavier port. I would go back!
Lovely garden for warm evenings. Service was very slow though.
impeccable service and surprisingly large garden terrace. Very instagram.
Great apart from being seated next to a mums group with 6 babies who took it in turns to have tantrums!
Been to Ivy several times and has been excellent every time. This time was a slight let down due to the service. Had a booking for 11.15am but on arrival was told the breakfast menu was no longer available, i asked why as breakfast is until 11.30 and i was told that it is due to them not wanting to rush customers at the last minute. I said we know what we want can we order the breakfast now? The reply was a no. They should give an indication of when last orders are as if it says 11.30 and you are ordering at 11.20 i dont see an issue. Anyways, was then told cant sit outside as it is pre booked, my understanding was you can not pre book outside. Despite it being about 70% empty outside we were told no. Then 2 ladies walked in and were given the option of outside, which i clearly heard from the waiter. They said can we see it first and were taken outside. 2 hours later when we were ready to leave, most of the outside spacing was STILL empty and no one had arrived for this alleged pre booking. Food was great as always and so was the ambience.
The service is poor and the food is average
In all my visits
Lovely as always , best place to eat breakfast
Food was not as good as previous visits and service was slow - twenty mins from seating to ordering first drink and so on.Ambience remains fine but it seems that standards are slipping
Great place to eat and reasonably priced for the level of service and the quality of the food. A really good menu with loads of great options. Did a special dessert for our anniversary and overall fab.
Staff were excellent very attentive have requested to sit in garden on numerous occasions but sadly have not been accommodated !! Perhaps would suggest that garden can be bookable and not ad hoc basis.
I ate here the week before for breakfast and left a mediocre review due to the poor service but the food was fantastic. This experience could not have been different, a complete turn around on the staff and service. The food was excellent and the staff this time around were excellent so my experience the week before must have been a one off as I had intimated.
I with my wife and daughter of 4 and we had a great time. Food was lovely and the staff were super friendly, warm and welcoming. Perfect.
Such a lovely setting on the covered garden patio! We had a delicious breakfast and enjoyed the ambiance.
Too warm inside
Good food, not amazing
Ambience should have been great, but it was too warm and though I asked for a table outside, no one notified me that the garden closed at 7:45
Excellent! I had a fantastic meal here and the service was brilliant!
I have been several times and have never been disappointed. First class service - our Waiter couldn't have been more helpful and attentive. The ambience of the is restaurant outstanding and if you like 'people watching!' a good place to view.
The garden is so beautifull and relaxing, really nice on warm days. We had a champagne afternoon tea, excellent and affordable. Be carefull if you want to dine outside at night, latest arrival is at 19h30 and the close the garden at 22h. Inside is really nice also.
My third visit, and good to report back to the positive first rather than less positive second visit! It's surprisingly good value, the food consistently good and, once you are seated, the service is good. They need to improve the reception and get booked customers straight to their table; there's nothing worse than waiting for something you've booked!
A delicious lunch with excellent service. Great atmosphere. Warm Welcome. Beautiful vibrant place to meet friends and relax. Beautiful old Chelsea House and walled garden with a history. Nice all round!. Will be back asap!. Highly recommended.
