Ivy Kensington Brasserie
Sample our extensive range of quality food and delicious cocktails at your leisure from breakfast until late, whether you are a local resident, work close by or are visiting some of London’s best loved landmarks such as The Royal Albert Hall.
Our garden terrace is situated at the back of our restaurant and provides the perfect respite away from the hustle and bustle of the high street. Adorned with flowers and foliage, it is the perfect spot to soak up the sun during the summer months. Due to the nature of British summer our terrace cannot be booked ahead, so please just pop in.
Open seven days a week and comprised of a main restaurant, bar and a semi-private table for ten for an extra special experience, The Ivy Kensington Brasserie provides the perfect setting for any occasion.
Average food and service and below-average drinks.
Disappointing to say the least. Poor and disinterested service, mediocre and basically cold food. Certainly not what one would expect from the brand.
Went to the ivy for my husbands bday. We have eaten there many times before and wanted to try the new menu.
We were seated quickly and that was it. It was 15 minutes before someone came for drink order. We were ready to order everything but he said he had to come back. We ordered a glass of champagne and wine. 10 min later the wine arrived. Another 10 minutes later we had to ask for the glass of champagne that was sitting on the bar. Then we ordered. The guy was quite confused by our simple order. When the food came finally most of the food was good as always but the steak over cooked with a huge amount of fat so mostly inedible. The chicken was undercooked in the centre. No one checked on us. We ordered more drinks but they took ages. Luckily we had water! We ordered dessertsand coffees. Despite reminding them that it was a bday there wasn’t no acknowledgment and we’ve been before where a msg is written on the plate and a special dessert. Despite spending almost 300 pounds we were very let down!
Traveled from the states to celebrate a birthday week, all was good but check your check before paying we had a extra juice charge that wasn’t delivered.
The service was a bit slow in bringing things to the table but they seemed oversaturated to be honest. However, they were all very nice and friendly. The food was really good. Their starters are better than their mains
The Kensington Ivy always has the perfect ambiance - never change this! The food is also very good and the service is excellent. One of my home restaurants for a reason!
See you again soon !!
We experienced very poor service which spoiled our evening.
Amazing service and food. Great ambiance. I would definitely dine here again.
Great ambiance, great food, great customer service
Brilliant vibe, delicious food, lovely cocktails. Great place to meet with friends!
Great food, lovely decor and impeccable service. They even brought a tiny birthday cake to the table, which was a nice surprise. £108 for the two of us, for 3 courses, with champagne bellinis to start and coffees to end, seems like good value, for a quality restaurant like the Ivy.
The apple fine tart flambe with calvedos is a good dessert, and probably enough to share between two.
And having a 6 foot, super-model waitress approach your table, carrying a tiny copper pan of calvedos and a blow torch, who then sets fire to your dessert at the table with burning calvedos, adds some fun "theatre" to the whole dining experience. The 6 foot, super-model waitress might not be there for every service, but the dessert is guaranteed delicious.
Starters and dessert good
Main course poor
Fish over cook and dry!!
Ambiance is nice and very chic, ordered a fillet steak and fries for 35 pounds and the steak was on the small side and not so flavorful on its own, without the addition of a peppercorn sauce which made it pretty tasty. Fries were a bit dry and barely filling. Service was great and attentive, but could have done with a bit more warmth. Wife had a very delicious tuna salad though. For the price though I wish I was more impressed
Very good, as usual.
Only small detail was that the lime with the fish at both dishes was totally dried out, after requesting new ones they came again totally dried out.
The waiter then had to cut fresh lime in the kitchen himself to serve us.
The interior looks wonderful and there are plenty of staff - sadly they appear to take no notice at all of the customers!
Service was diabolical, we were either ignored, had the same questions asked over and over, and then items came twice! The fish was overcooked, the loos out of order , the aircon freezing and the staff simply oblivious.
Not good! We deducted the service charge obvs.
Bearing in mind location - tables were too close for couples. Service was efficient but cool. Food was good
tTe service was shocking. We waited 25 minutes for a glass of water and then we had not great service.
The Shepherds pie was not as good as usual. Large pieces of meat and highly seasoned.
I do like the Ivy but, it’s losing its appeal and I’m not 100% sure I would go there again. The food is good but I’m getting bored with the menu. Some things, like the shepherds pie have been there for decades and I struggled to find something I really wanted. In the end I had the chicken Milanese which was okay not great. The fried egg wasn’t crispy at the bottom and only just cooked on top - I can do much better and I’m not a chef at the Ivy!
The seating is cramped. Greed has overtaken comfort and you’re sat too close to other diners. It’s impossible to have a private conversation and I felt very self conscious talking to my wife. It was her birthday which is special to us but clearly not the Ivy. A token cake the size of a Ferraro Roche with a candle stuck on it was shoved on the table without ceremony. I remember the days when they would present a plate with your name written on it in icing wishing you happy birthday and they made a fuss; it made you feel special. Now, the staff have so little time to do anything it’s all a rush; a consequence of the cram them in, feed them quick approach they’ve adopted.
The service was okay but impersonal. We had to ask for the remainder of our bottle of wine after they cleared our wine glasses; again, I fear this is due to the number of people the staff have to keep track of.
All in all, this restaurant is okay (but expensive) for a regular supper or a pre-theatre bite to eat. It’s not special enough for a special occasion and, if things don’t improve, I fear for their future.
The old saying less is more still rings true and in this context, fewer would be better for your customers and staff
We enjoyed a very pleasant dinner with friends. The food was from the set menu and did not disappoint. The staff were extremely good and there was a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. Would certainly recommend a visit.
Overall a terrible experience. I’ve dined in most of the ivy brasseries, they certainly shouldn’t rely on the older Sister, the ivy, for comfort. I took a journalist from The Metro for a Pr business lunch and thought it an overall lousy experience, as did she. I would not come back.
Was nice just too many kids screaming and yelling. They should have maybe separate seating
Food was amazing and the atmosphere was great only comment was the waiter was not as attentive as we when our meal came no one came back to check if it was ok or if we wanted anything else. Also had to wait a while for dessert menu. Waiter seemed more interested in clearing and setting the tables nearby. Then had to wait ages to pay the bill!
the Ivy is a lovely place, service is nice and food is traditional and good
Shocking service. The waiter was rude and didn’t smile once. Just “threw” the plates at us. Didn’t want to help with children’s food neither. Shame really as we like the Ivy.
Amazing food and we had a good time! High street Ken Ivy has the best service out of all the Ivys I’ve been to :)
For the second time here and again it was a pleasure having dinner here
A truly delightful evening. Food was delicious....service was excellent. We ate in the open area at the back of the restaurant - the warmth of the heating with a light occasional breeze from outside really added to the niceness of our visit. Thanks!
Birthday family meal
In London on holiday celebrating my wife’s 60th birthday...week
We arrived for our reservation and the table wasn't ready. We were asked to wait at the bar but there was no space at the bar. Our table was ready in about 12-15 minutes but we were seated in siberia. If we wanted to have a private room we would have had that at home. There were only 3 of us. The food was good, the service very good. Would I return? yes.
Same bad experience than many people. Food quality is outrageously poor especially for the price charged and trust me I’m not picky! The shellfish cocktail was drowned in too much sauce and had almost no fish in it. It's astounding to me that it was £15. The tuna (£23) was dried and reminded me the food at school. The only star is for the decoration and the location
The overall atmosphere of the place is very good. There was a great choice on the menu even for vegetarians. It will be a venue I will be returning too.
Great experience; Artan is excellent...
I had poached eggs with sesame sauce & it was a bit sickly, my wife had the pancakes which were quite dry. We expected a higher standard of food. The Ivy breakfast tea was disgusting!! I could not drink it... if you are a Yorkshire tea/twinnings tea type of person avoid ordering this as you won’t like it. The ambience & decor were really evocative & we enjoyed being in the space but unfortunately the food/drinks didn’t live up to expectations - won’t return & probably wouldn't recommend. There are some other much nicer brunch places along the same street. Sorry 😕
What a treat. Unique and delicious food. Service is excellent. Popular place. Recommend reservations. Would definitely go again next time we are in London. Looks like they have a restaurant in Dublin as well. Be sure to check out the Piano Kensington two doors down after dinner.
The service was very slow, the mash potatoes were stone cold she had to be replaced and one plate of food did not come as ordered.
Not up to their normal standard.
Food is average, Ambience and service are very good
The set lunch is good value and was creative and flavorful. A couple of additional choices for dessert would be welcome. The service was a bit slow and reluctant. With the high noise level in the restaurant we had difficulty hearing the waiter and he had difficulty hearing us. The decor in the style of a French Bistro is attractive and the ambiance is comfortable.
This branch of The Ivy has a lovely atmosphere and consistently good food and service.
