I was a little underwhelmed with my experience at Ivy market. From the outside and from reviews that I saw I was expecting much more from the service. Our server was on break and we were being taken care of by the manager who did not seem very interested in our experience. He was a bit abrasive and unfriendly. Very disappointing. The location really makes this place ideal for a dinner date and drinks. I would recommend it to friends but would be weary of service. Also the tables are far too close together you feel like it’s very crowded.
Came to the Ivy Market Garden Grill for a family birthday celebration weekend. The welcome by staff was warm and the restaurant was attractive and welcoming. We were directed to a table which was tucked away in a corner which was dark and inconvenient and a little cramped, BUT after a quick word we were immediately moved to an excellent round table. Our waiter was attentive polite and professional but not over bearing. The food was presented and cooked excellently and considering the historic name of the original Ivy, and the location of the Market Garden location all things considered was excellent value for a special occasion. A perfect birthday celebration. Thank you. Regards The Collins family 21/07/19
The chips were cold and hard, the worst meal we have had there. When mentioned the waiter was indifferent with no apology.
Much better service than the branch in the city. Still good standard of food and nice ambience, very relaxing considering you are on top of Convent Garden
Very impressive . First time at this Ivy . Great service - fantastic food and good value . No complaints at all
Excellent late morning brunch would recommend you give it a go
We had a table for 5 for my sister's birthday and had an amazing meal. Our waitress was attentive and very friendly and the whole meal wad delicious. Thank you for making it a memorable experience.
Brilliant experience from start to finish. Great atmosphere, staff friendly without being intrusive. Food excellent and well priced.
Busy , but didn’t feel rushed to eat and leave, which is always nice.
Will definitely be going back.
One of my favourite places to eat in Covent Garden area. Great food, great staff and I particularly loved the rose we had poured out of a giant bottle
Excellent, wonderful atmosphere, not rushed and super food!
Staff were rude, food was poor, burnt bread etc. I will not be returning.
Delicious food great wine. Table for two against the wall was too close to surrounding tables meaning each time someone got up to go out we had to grab our wine as they didn’t fit and bumped the table. Had a great time would have been perfect with an extra few inches between our table and the next. The waiter was charming and attentive too.
As I arrived at the restaurant, I said hello and said I had a booking for 7.15. I was cut off and asked did I have an reservation with an unwelcoming tone.
I was brought to our table. Everything was fine with drinks. They came fast. Our food order was taken and we ordered a bottle of Prosecco also. We received our food.
We were almost finished our dinner when I had to ask for our Prosecco again. We had to ask again for our bottle to be left at the table as out waiter was not attentive at filling our glasses.
My burger was very dry. I received a brioche bun when it stated in the menu that it came with a potato bun (one of the reasons why I ordered it). I asked the waiter if it was correct that it was meant to be served with a potato bun. He left to double check this and returned with the answer that the bun is brioche made with potatoes- this is very hard to believe. I don’t believe this exists
We asked for the bill. It came and had to ask to pay as no one was paying attention.
Definitely not returning. Overpriced for very average food (my burger was below average). If a child had cooked it, I would have forgiven what was presented to me but considering I paid 15 pounds for what I got, it was certainly shocking.
I have eaten at the main Ivy restaurants and have been very satisfied and this is not what I expected from such a reputable brand
The chips tasted and looked like they were reheated and where we were sat was right where everyone was walking past it made us feel uncomfortable
This was my second visit to the Ivy Market Grill, greeted by impeccably dressed staff, taken straight to our table even though we were a little early. Waiter was lovely and friendly in fact all the staff we're brilliant. Lovely food, quick service but did not feel rushed. A great place in the heart of Covent Garden. 2 courses and bottle of wine and soft drinks £30.00
Arrived early and were given a very pleasant table. This was my third visit and the food, wine and service were as good as previous visits. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Happened to mention it was my cousin’s birthday and a small celebratory dessert appeared which was much appreciated All in all an extremely pleasant and enjoyable lunch.
We ordered lunch which did not arrive all at the same time.
mine was the cod which was cold and the jasmine rice which had hard uncooked grains in it.
I sent mine back to be reheated which took a further 10mins by which my friends had almost finished their meal. By the time it came back again luke warm I had eaten all the green beans and was not hungry.
Overall we all agreed that the food is served well below average temperature as my friends agreed theirs were not hot or warm
As always, great food and great service.
Friendly welcoming staff, excellent food and the chocolate bombe is a real showstopper.
Really enjoyedour visit Would definitely returnHad asked for cheery table -whch we got !
Was a bit disappointed with the quality of food not what I was expecting from the Ivy although I realise it’s not the original Ivy just a chain .
The steak was very tasty, the staff were very friendly and service was quite timely. We recommend sitting outside.
Chose Market Grill for our pre Theatre meal. Been there before but never booked. As summer hols decided to book and glad we did. Had great table outside. Lovely relaxed experience
Food came up quickly, plenty of time to eat and get to the theatre.
Great lunch but noisy area in restaurant
Een vreselijk goed restaurant in een hele leuke wijk. Zeer exclusieve gerechten gericht op wijn.
Me and my boyfriend ordered a medium rare Sirloin steak and it came to our table cremated and the chips were chewy and potatoless
Food was delicious and wonderful. Our waiter was lovely and very patient with us when we weren’t ready to order. However, the ambience and evening was totally spoiled when after we had had our desert, turned down coffee and all things apart from our water glasses had been removed from the table, another gentleman staff member came up to us to remind us that we only had 15minutes left of our 2 hour slot and could we keep that in mind as they had another booking for the table. I have eaten in many places over the world and this has never happened before. I was not at all impressed! I did mention it to the duty manager at the time who was very apologetic but it should not have been necessary for him to have said anything at all as it was clear that we were at the end of our meal and were waiting to ask for our bill.
We are from New Zealand and this is our second visit to Ivy Market Grill. We returned because our visit last year was an outstanding dining experience and we were not at all disappointed this year. Our Brazilian waiter was courteous, friendly and efficient. The food maintained the high standard we enjoyed last year. The three of us are late 70s, early 80s and all have some minor hearing loss. It is not surprising that such a deservedly popular restaurant is a little noisy but accept that is unavoidable.
We will probably return to London next year and, if so, the Ivy Market Grill will remain on our "wish list"

The service was outstanding and the food was wonderful as well. It was my birthday whilst I was there and they brought out a little cream cheese tart which was lovely of them.
Nice atmosphere and always great food at the Ivy Market Grill, this is our third time eating there.
Been a regular user of this restaurant for several years and always felt it was not only excellent food but also good value. Recent new menu introduced with new prices of course. £22 for sea bass? Really?
This was our first visit to the Convent Garden Ivy Market Grill, and we were a group of six (with two children). It occupies a good central location, with round tables for bigger groups, which is always nice. The service was friendly and accommodating, although one starter came out so long after the rest that the others had all but finished. Not good. The food itself was average UK fare - reasonable quality, reasonable portions and reasonably priced. The monkfish and prawn curry looked like best of our choices...
An excellent breakfast with attentive service in a wonderful setting.
Lovely restaurant in Covent Gardens. The food was delicious & the staff were great!
Dinner for 4, food all of a decent standard and service reasonably consistent. Enjoyable evening. Very over priced for what we had though, £250 for 4, only 4 alcoholic drinks in that total
Food was very good (salmon and asparagus), cocktails were nice if slightly overpriced. All was let down by the terribly slow service and rude staff. I had to ask a waiter to take my starter plate away, and several members of staff were stood chatting rather than attending to tables. It lets down the Ivy brand name, other branches are much better.
The service was too pushy. The waiter wanted to take starters and mains order at the same time even though we were not ready. The food was disappointing.
The food is rather dull. Always the same and the pre theatre menu which we chose, was frankly quite unpleasant. Gristly over grilled chicken salad, an unbalanced grilled haloumi concoction. It’s over priced. Fills up with all us pre theatre/opera types and takes advantage! Don’t recommend. Chelsea and Kensington are miles better.
Very efficient service for pre theatre meal. Friendly staff, good choice on the set menu, and wine list. Would recommend
Pre Theatre dinner. Our waiter Vladimir was excellent and attentive. Food was very good as expected. Used main menu as PTD limited.
