Ivy Market Grill
Open seven days a week and comprised of a main restaurant, terrace overlooking the bustling piazza and two private dining rooms, The Ivy Market Grill provides the perfect setting for any occasion.
A number of tables remain unreserved throughout the day allowing more people to experience a taste of Ivy magic in both our dining and service. Sample our extensive range of quality food and delicious cocktails at your leisure from breakfast until late, whether you are a local resident, work close by or are simply visiting one of London’s best-loved areas.
We arrived 15 minutes early and were told we would need to come back at our allotted time. There is no bar area to have a drink before the meal.
If you have dined at the Ivy or even some of their brassieres you will be very disappointed by the standard of decoration - it looks and feels tired and uninviting.
Our waitress had bad body odour.
We waited 30 mins for our pre-dinner drinks and water for the table to arrive. Bread olives and drinks arrived over a 10 minute period rather than more or less together, so it was unclear whether parts of our drinks order had been forgot.
Despite numerous reminders our red wine was not served until we had nearly finished our main course.
Mercifully the food was pretty good.
Had I not had my mother and mother-in-law with me I would have complained and perhaps left.
Perhaps it might be better on a quiet mid-week lunchtime, but I will not be returning and would not recommend a Friday or Saturday night.
Sat waiting a while for a server, when he eventually arrived, he looked very uneasy. Food was pretty poor, ordered a burger, delivered very quickly dry, burned to a crisp and tasteless. Less than average food, less than average service, expensive for a simple meal.
Very busy, food adequate, service erratic.
Reduced our bill without prompting
Unfortunately the tables for two are too small to accommodate being able to eat a full English breakfast comfortably. The toast in the toast rack was bought up at the same time as everything else and had to go on top of the side plate so there was no way it could be buttered and eaten while hot. The breakfast food was good but there was very little room to ba able to cut and eat in comfort either. Once finished I had to put the empty plate on the bench seat next to me to allow room to enable me to pour and drink my tea which had also gone cold. During this time no one came to check how things were and the waiters were so busy you could not gain any attention from them. When a waiter finally came at the end to clear the table he agreed the tables for two are too small for a full breakfast, toast and tea, teapot etc x2. However he did organize some fresh hot toast which was bliss! Overall I was very disappointed with the experience, which had been a birthday treat, especially as I had been previously with a party of 5 and not experienced these problems as the table was large enough to accommodate everyone with their food and drinks. I would suggest if booking for breakfast you book for more than two people if you wish to eat breakfast in comfort and while it is hot. If only two of you are eating then stick to coffee and croissant!
Absolutely faultless - outstanding food and service
Thank you Greg for looking after us so well on 13/06/19. Attentive, conscientious and professional. Ensuring my meal was prepared well and free of allergens. Also arranging 2 celebrations cakes for our birthdays. Thank you very much.
Love this restaurant, the food and service are excellent and very good value for money. It was quite noisy and my only complaint would be that some of the tables are too close together. We asked for a different table and even then, once the table next to us was occupied, we could hear every detail of the conversation, even though we didn't want to!
Very enjoyable visit. Food - good value. Wine, expensive.
Lovely location, great atmosphere, good food with wide variety for all tastes. Good service with welcoming approach couldn't fault it and won't hesitate going again
Have been to the ivy not the grill before and had a lovely experience for a special occasion so chose the ivy grill for a pre theatre meal before a show. It was just as good an experience. We chose a pre theatre menu which was really good value and excellent food. Would definately recommend it to friends and return on our next visit to london.
A lovely location for a special day for our son's 21st. The courteous and helpful staff looked after our every need, and it was such a beautiful afternoon, although the weather was wet and dismal the staff and service was outstanding which left us so happy with how the day went. Cannot thank the staff enough for making this damp day a special treat for us all.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Service and food were excellent,
Lovely place vibe good good good but felt service was very rushed rushing us each course
Came here on a recommendation - will definitely return. The staff were efficient and friendly, the atmosphere was buzzy and the food was excellent - one of the best fish cakes with poached egg I’ve had. Zucchini crisps also excellent.
Very poor. I struggle to see how this fits into the Ivy brand. Inattentive staff, cold mashed potato, no Worcester sauce provided with the classic shepherds pie and too many tables in a small space.
Great place for a pre theatre meal. Easy walking distance from the Savoy Theatre.
I Love all the Ivy Restaurants and this one is not impossible to get in, if you are not important. The original IVY is a favorite, but if I was not in the "business" it would be hard to get into. The bar is great here, and the rooms are terrific. But I reserved a week in advance, and got a really crappy table for two by the kitchen, which I thought was not cool as there were empty tables throughout the place, and I was with a famous West End actress. Maybe I should have asked to move, but I am not that kind of guy.
A really lovely place to spend a wet summer’s evening! Very well priced menu, great food and choice and great ambiance. We were a group of 6 and had plenty of room at a good table. Service was a little chaotic, not for want of staff who were friendly, but we were reasonably looked after.
The food was quite good but the service was dreadful. We had difficulty in attracting the eye of the waiter and our food arrived long before the wine we'd ordered, about which we had to remind him.
Fantastic atmosphere, service and good quality food. Attentive staff. Would highly recommend.
Food was good but the atmosphere was loud and frantic. We had several different people serving us and no one seemed to “own” our service. We needed something more than once and had to flag someone down with a loud voice to get noticed. Will never go back.
Very good stop after a matinee at the Royal Opera House
A great venue and location, good food with some artistic starters but the main courses were brought out whilst we still eating the starters, then later on one waiter starter to clear certain plates whilst our guests were still eating. Overall reasonable value for money but some of the staff could benefit from speaking with each other and avoiding making dinners feeling rushed!
Super overall. Slightly chilly welcome from front-of-house made up for by Very friendly waiting staff, wide-ranging menu and excellent food. Very nice "theatrical" atmosphere too.
We had the worst waiter I have encountered in any restaurant for some time. His service was seriously lacking knowledge, with no personality or conversation. Also, when I was debating whether to order the minute steak (£15) or the veal special, he jumped in and insisted the veal was the choice, failing to mention this was £33, with no sides included. Also, I asked whether the Chardonnay by the glass was oaked (assuming so, as there was also a Chablis by the glass) and was told that the restaurant manager advised the Chablis was more oaky than the other Chardonnay...pretty hard to believe for anybody who knows anything about Chablis! The restaurant atmosphere and quality of the food were both excellent, but the standard of service and wine knowledge were shockingly poor for a restaurant with a menu and wine list offering such excellent variety
great brunch! good athmosphere!
4th time here and didn’t disappoint. Fabulous food and great atmosphere for value fir money
We visited for my Mum’s 60th Birthday. Amazing service from the moment we walked in the door and the food was delicious. Will definitely be visiting again!
Visited 6.30 Saturday evening, seated immediately, menus and drinks order followed as seated.
Excellent food and attentive service.
Lots to choose from. Salmon fish cakes delicious. Love the set up. It was Saturday but still not over noisy so you could easily hold a conversation. Time slot just enough for main and dessert.
Really lovely, great setting, very friendly, professional and attentive staff. Food was lovely and served quickly. Only criticism is more choice on the menu would be good.
Really enjoyed the meal, however booth seating allocated was rather small.
Excellent afternoon at the Ivy Grill. The table for 7 was ready when we arrived. Service was excellent. Food was excellent. Wine & prosecco excellent. We all had a great time!
Nice, warm welcome and seated at the bar for a short while until our table was ready. Efficient, speedy service by pleasant staff with tasty food. Great location.
Everything is very good but it’s now been a few times that even if there are empty tables around, staff rushes you to leave. It is fine to have a 2 hour slot but i don’t accept being rushed if there are plenty of empty tables especially when still finishing my wine
The whole experience was ok. It was a 60th birthday treat for my sister so was hoping for something a bit more special. Here are the worst bits......We had a very brusque waitress who felt it ok to interrupt mid conversation to ask a question. No one offered us a wine menu, and when they did it wasn't easy to catch the eye of the waiter. They missed one of the vegetables we ordered and one of the french fries, so food on the table was going cold while we waited. I asked a passing waiter for some ketchup only to be told he couldn't get it for me as he only served behind the bar and then walked off! I had to grab someone else. The wine when poured was just slopped into the glasses and the glasses filled way to full.
The food itself was ok, nothing special. The steaks were cooked as ordered which you would expect.
The good bits.....The atmosphere was fun and buzzy. The Lady at the front desk was very helpful and efficient.
I wont be going back as I think you can get a better overall deal (Service, food and cost) elsewhere
Service was slow. Manager asked us to give up our table, when it was the serving staff who were slow, had language issues, etc. However, the melon, heirloom tomato salad was fantastic.
Great atmosphere and good food. Set menu is good value but limited
excellent service, food and atmosphere. Noise level acceptable.
We had a lovely time at the Ivy Market Grill. The food was delicious, the gin and tonics refreshing and service was great.
Just one thing the staff were brilliant once you got their attention. However, it was very hard to catch their eye as they seemed to be always looking up at the ceiling or into the distance.
