Had a lovely evening it would have been nice to have had a drink at bar whilst waiting for our table - food was great and our waiter was very attentive
Lovely ambience all in all a memorable evening
The layout of the tables in the restaurant meant that the door constantly opening with diners gave a regular icy blast. Warm when the door was shut, but felt for the people using the tables nearest the door, who were offered blankets. Also due to wether conditions, the outside eating was closed which meant we could have a drink at the bar before hand. Overall, a good dining experience, but not perfect.
Very enjoyable evening with great food and a lovely atmosphere
We were seated quite away from the main doors but it was VERY VERY draughty also the staff were very slow asking what drinks we wanted & then we waited 20 mins to receive them! I have frequented many Ivy's across London and Surrey and this is without doubt the worse service ever. We were never asked how our meals were or anything else. Food was excellent but nothing else was.
Had to ask 3 times for another drink. Chips came out cold . Not as good as past visits.
Had fish and chips for the main which was nice. Had one of the Christmas cocktails which was quite expensive but turned out to be nothing special. The dessert menu is limited. Service was great.
First time at The Ivy and it won’t be my last
Fantastic food and staff
A touch of class in the heart of Covent Garden. Amazingly attentive and knowledgeable staff, beautiful surroundings and first class food.
Fantastic food, but service was a little hit and miss after the initial warm welcome and order placing. We then struggled to attract attention from the staff to get a dessert menu, order desserts and get the bill, which made us a later than planned leaving for our theatre show. In our rush, I paid the 12.5% optional service charge, where if I had not had to rush I would have taken it off as the service was not really worth it.
I had another great meal
The tables were well spaced out but the restaurant really didn’t live up to our expectations. The area where we were sitting was quite dark and the restaurant itself was very cold. The menu was okay but the plates were cold when the food arrived and we found ourselves underwhelmed with the dishes that promised much more flavour. Wanted to enjoy the Ivy Market Grill but found ourselves disappointed, would not recommend.
Not enough service and just waiting constantly. No Cocktails despite being on the menu. Food good, apart from unusually Boney Lemon Sole, every mouthful was full of bones. Pleasant wines and beers, Nice atmosphere for circa 3hr experience.
Great service by Cilla, great food and all round experience.
The front desk were clearly stressed with trying to get everything organised and seemed more preoccupied with the turnover of guests than making it a good experience for the patrons. We arrived a fair bit early to our booking to see if we could sit at the bar for drinks while we waited and were told quite curtly we needed to come back for the booking. Ok fine, we were early but it was said in quite dismissive tone.
When we got back for our booking we were sat in a booth right by the door to the outside seating area. It was an exceptionally cold night so we were getting blasted with freezing cold air every 3 seconds (as the door was in constant use). The restaurant was too busy to be sat anywhere else. I ended up asking for a blanket because I was so cold.
The food was very average for the area. Nothing special or to write home about.
We had a very sweet waitress who really made the effort to make us feel welcome and looked after so she was a definite plus point of the experience. We didn’t catch her name but she was petite, white with long blonde hair and deserves some recognition for her lovely disposition. The male waiter who looked after us as well was nice too.
It’s a shame the experience was disappointing as it was a belated celebration of my mums birthday. I personally wouldn’t go back again.
I ordered the fish and chips form they menu and the batter with the fish actually came raw! I was so disappointed because we had the salt and pepper squid for starter and it was lovely!!!
Both me and my partner had a great experience at the Ivy. The food was tasty and the service was very polite. We were not rushed to order or to leave, which was very much appreciated. I would highly recommend this to others wanting to dine in the Covent Garden area. Thank you.
Lovely looking place ,but the tables too close to each other , couldn’t relax as felt we was eating with strangers ,
Service was so bad but I still paid the service charge as I felt rude not too.
Awesome, staff went above and beyond service when we’d asked for Dom Perignon. They didn’t have it, but went and got it from somewhere! Class!
Very nice ambiance a bit crowded but quite bearable
Lovely location, food and service. The ladies toilets are an Instagramers dream!
Will definitely be back and highly recommend.
Very busy but service was quick and the food was faultless. Great vibe and we weren't made to feel rushed at all.
Friendly service as soon as we walked in. We were sat by a door which was so cold when it was opened but as soon as we said we were moved to a different table. Our waiter was very lovely. Food was delicious and a very good choice.
Lovely decor. Lack of staff when we went for breakfast waited 20 mins for out first hot drink then 30 mins for our second. Breakfast food was tasty just service not as good as we normally receive when visiting.
Delicious food, friendly and helpful staff. Will definitely return.
Very tasty food with lots of choice. Service was very friendly. We were sat very close to the entrance so it was cold but were offered a free bottle of wine for the five of us which was appreciated
Food is very decent, service not so much. Woman on the front desk was quite rude, had to wait 35 mins for our table before seeing a show.
Waited nearly an hour for a pre booked table .
Once seated waited another 20 mins and had to ask to be served … wine by bottle cost more than by the glass of our choice .
Overall disappointment as this was a 70th Birthday celebration before a theatre booking .
Was very disappointed that we weren't notified that the pre show menu was not available as was the table next to us. This was advised at the time of booking and a big part of the reason we booked
Disappointed with service very slow and wrong drinks delivered to table, drinks ordered before meal and arrived after meal served.
Not the usual experience we have had at The Ivy:(
The main reason for the poor score was that my order for fish cakes for fish and chips. I hate waste so I settled for the fish and chips but the batter was so thick it was uncooked inside. So it was the poor food quality that really peeved me. A confusing rotation of staff didn’t help us feel that things were under control, even if they were.
Food and service was amazing and would definitely recommend although the setting was lovely it was just too dark so couldn’t read the menus without phone torches
There was a mouse under the table where we were eating and the management were unsympathetic
4 adults and 2 children at 4 pm
We waited 20 minutes before someone spoke to us
This waiter comes and stands behind me and doesn’t say anything, just stands there, doesn’t say hi or anything. It was kind of creepy
I said hello, can we order drinks? He says “you tell me, it’s up to you”
Very rude and honestly just felt super awkward dealing with every one there
I got the fish and chips, was so excited to try some British crispy fried beer batter. It was soggy and nasty, kind of like what you get in North America.
Service was poor, and slow. You order a drink, they get you the new one and don’t take the one you finished off the table. It’s very strange
And then they charge you 12% service on top. For what?? I wouldn’t have tipped a single buck
Waiter very attentive, delicious food, lovely surroundings
Lunch to celebrate Thanksgiving until the weekend when we do it again at home…busy lunchtime, but great service, excellent food served at the right temperature, and drinks from a bartender who knows what he’s going.
Fabulous food, the Cottage Pie and Fishcakes superb. Definitely start with the Duck salad!! Helpful friendly staff made it a great experience.
Unfortunately the soup was cold and so was the coffee,So they had to be replaced. That was disappointing for an Ivy. However, other than that the food was excellent and so was the service.
Overcrowded, understaffed, waited ages for simple things like water. Seated in a cramped table for 2 that was so small our legs were touching and we couldn’t keep plates and glasses on the table comfortably. Food average.
Excellent experience for 70th birthday celebration
Service was quick and efficient and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The food was excellent and well presented. We enjoyed our visit yet again and have never been disappointed. A truly wonderful experience for us
