Hand chopped beef striploin, Tabasco dressing, cornichon, shallot, parsley, egg yolk and thick cut chips
Wine arriving after food
Annoying loud music
Not coming back!
Good was cold. Glass of wine was warm so not chilled. Disaster
On Wednesday I sat on a table next to the general manager and HR who were having a meeting.
We had absolutely no service for most of the dinner.
Had to ask 3 times for a bottle of champagne, had to ask 4 times to have it poured.
I had to go to the bar to get a red wine glass.
I had to stand up to serve red wine around the table.
Meanwhile there were always over 3 waiters doting on their colleagues on the next table.
I complained to the waiter, and showed your colleagues sitting at the bar talking with 3 waiters. He said that we are expected to pour our own wine.
What is service?
In business you serve the client, not your own staff.
It was embarrassing… how can you have 3-4 waiters serving 3 people, meanwhile we had none?
I asked to have an apology from the general manager. Have heard nothing.
Great food / choice but very busy. Booked at short notice.
Wonderful warm welcome. Coats taken and swiftly shown table. Food was delicious. Service was relaxed and charming. Made to feel special. Delivered in everything which is why we will return! Thank you.
Brilliant pre-theatre meal - Great shepherds pie and aromatic duck, ambience was great. Our waiter Alexandro was fantastic, great recommendations and energy
Always enjoy the experience at The Ivy Market Grill. Good service, good food and good fun.
We arrived earlier then expected for our table and was seated right away! Food and service was great!
Great place for late evening dining (after a show). The food comes quickly and is very good.
Food was good and service attentive. The bottle of house white wine wasn’t the best!
Booked last minute and ordered from the pre-Theatre menu. Excellent value and really good food. Service was very friendly and all the staff had a great attitude. Only slight criticisms are that drinks orders took a long time to arrive, on a few occasions it was hard to get a servers attention to place an order, and some items of cutlery were forgotten when serving main courses - we had to ask for those after a few minutes. These are all minor things though, overall the place is excellent and I would highly recommend it. We will visit again.
Fabulous food and ambiance and service recommend .
It was all pleasant enough, but nothing special. The food for the most part was ordinary, and so felt to me to be over-priced. You’re probably paying for the name and location. The staff were unfailingly pleasant and efficient.
Great central London venue. Good choice if menu for Brunch, tasty, nicely presented and good service. Will be happy to revisit
Lovely service and food. Very quiet and chilled. Would dine again
Called in for a lovely breakfast. Great value and lovely staff
Before arriving we were a little concerned whether a table for two would be cramped or not located in an ideal place in the restaurant ,fortunately this was not to be the case & the seating was perfect .A Busy vibrant atmosphere ,great food impressive service I’ m still convinced the waiter dealing with our section appeared to be highly intuitive & read my mind on a number of occasions he knew exactly when to attend to the tables he was looking after also he was very professional ,attentive & friendly .
Highly recommend the Ivy grill Covent Garden
Extremely poor service which, unfortunately, tarnished the experience.
The service was a million miles away from the majority of restaurants in the City and is somewhat very far behind the competitors at the Ivy Market Grill location. I had dined at the Ivy Victoria just 8 days prior and the difference is incomparable.
Would not return or recommend this location.
The member of staff serving us was forgetful and slow. Asked twice for children’s menu, asked twice for condiments, asked twice for water. Plus the restaurant was so hot that even after taking all clothing we could off my daughter was too hot to enjoy her food.
Firstly, the not so good stuff! I appreciate we arrived at a busy time, but the area around reception is not big enough for 2 people, let alone groups. Secondly, the tables were way too close to each other, to the point where I was totally hemmed in. Now the good stuff, when we did get seated (around 10 minutes after reservation time, no big deal), the service from several members of the team was welcoming, friendly and efficient. The food was lovely and especially for the 3 twenty somethings we had taken out for a treat who thoroughly enjoyed it. Oh, and the drinks weren’t bad either. Overall, and enjoyable time
Everyone was very polite and the food was fantastic. The only issue we ran in to was, our main course was very delayed, the restaurant manager said 'something bad happened to our food' this slight worried us and the tables to the side of us also, but apparently the waiter dropped our plates so had to plate up again... we were only told this after we enquired as to where our food was. It was no major issue, but the communication could have been better.
We will definitely return as the ambiance and food were lovely.
All staff were professional, friendly and fun
Ambience and noise level was perfect
Food was out of this world!
Will definitley visit there regularly 10/10
Good ambience and environment. However food was cold. Cheese soufflé which showed be served very hot was luke warm. Then cod fillet was served cold not even luke warm. Fine for atmosphere but dont go there expecting good service or food.
The lady who greeted us at the door was generally rude & did not apologise that we’d been waiting in a queue despite booking.
The room downstairs was tired had little ambiance.
Service was good although they forgot to bring 2 of the starters out so we had to wait for that.
Sadly we had a poor experience the person at the front door had no warmth and certainly did not welcome us. We were sat in the table for 3 near the door and felt like were at a railway station with the constant suitcases that passed by. The serving staff wearing the navy blue suits were excellent we had 2 different people …we had a different waitress serving us the rest of the time. We felt that we were very rushed I asked for our main course to be delayed it was promised but not delivered …we were not asked if we wanted to have wine with our lunch and as such I asked for the wine menu and then had to try and attract someone’s attention to order. I had to chase the order as I had nearly finished my main course by the time it arrived. I have eaten at the Ivy a few times and was treating my son and his girlfriend and we all felt that we had been made to feel inferior…. How sad in this day and age that still can happen despite the bill being £245 … staff training is needed …
Fantastic experience. Wonderful food & amazing staff. Definitely return
Wonderful restaurant for a relaxing Sunday brunch, the food was plentiful and delicious and exceptionally good value
The food was outstanding and the table that we were given was lovely. The restaurant had a nice buzz and was beautiful inside. The only issue I had was that the meal felt quite rushed with the starter and main arriving quickly after we ordered. The service was great apart from one instance where we had to ask three separate members of staff to order another drink.
Lovely evening and great service. The location and setting is fab. Dining here is a great experience. The staff were all very professional and friendly. Excellent choice of food and the quality/presentation was lovely. We were looked after by Kayleigh and she was fab. Very bubbly and chatty, plus she recognised my partners birthday and made a fuss. I’ll definitely dine here again.
Really nice evening with my wife, duck salad starter was so good, and the duck curry ( I know, duck-duck!!) was just amazing!!
Lovely food and our waiters were exceptional. Thankyou to the waiter who spotted I had spilt mustard on myself and discreetly passed me an extra napkin. Very observant.
My only comment would be that we couldn’t get a drink whilst waiting for our table. This doesn’t make commercial sense to me and slightly impacts the diner experience. Not a major issue and it wouldn’t deter me from further visits. Just an observation.
No taking away from the food which was great. However when we arrived our table wasn’t ready so they asked us to sit at the bar. We did so, it was as though we were invisible. They didn’t acknowledge us at all. We asked for a drinks menu from a passing waitress (one between three of us), we eventually caught the Barman’s eye and asked if we could order a drink, we couldn’t but they’d give us a glass of water. Such a shame, but the waitress for our table was lovely. The bar needs work, especially when other people had drinks at the bar! Why couldn’t we?
I appreciate it was peak time on a Saturday approximately 5pm when we arrived, we had booked a booth and understandably it was not available. We were asked to leave and return 15 minutes later in a very dismissive way, we refused and asked to wait inside which was agreed to grudgingly. We spotted a place at the bar and asked if we could sit there and wait which was agreed to, we had to prompt the staff x 3 times before we were given our table 20 minutes later and it wasn't a booth. My concern is the manner of the staff and prioritisation when we had gone to such lengths to plan ahead. I understand when staff are busy they are distracted but it felt like we were a a problem and not the customers. The serving staff were lovely and the meal did arrive promptly and was of a very high quality so we have only praise for that part of the evening.
Excellent food choices, really lovely meal catering for everyone.
Shocking and chaotic
Waited 45 minutes for a drink
Only had 1 drink the whole meal
Eaten many a time and the food is always good ,
This time the bar service was a bit slow and non alcoholic cocktails were a bit hit and miss ,
Made me think the bar was just being covered and not led,
Either way nothing spoilt would still recommend
Lovely meal. After we had eaten we sat at the bar & had a few more drinks.
All the staff we encountered right from entering were very nice, helpful and accommodating.
Thank you to all the staff we had a lovely relaxing afternoon/evening
Overall it was ok… the food was tasty - which is the main thing! ‘Front of house’ staff greeting diners were terrible, brusque to the point of rude - and not enough space allowed for this process either. Cramped restaurant in general - no space between tables. Drinks service was incredibly slow, but food service was rushed - no time given/allowed between courses and rushed out for table to be turned for next booking. Food was good, but too expensive (in my opinion) based on service and rushed element
Restaurant is extremely busy. 1hr 45mins for 3 people is not enough time, especially if you did want to eat 3 courses and have coffee.
Places was crammed, too many tables with the result that people kept bumping into each other in the walkway and knocking into chairs and elbows of seated guests.
My meal was burger & chips so pretty basic, not the best but not the worst burger I’ve had. The espresso martini was delicious, I would come back just for drinks but not sure if they allow drinks only here.
Overall, nice place but I would prefer to go again when it’s not so busy to see if it’s a more enjoyable experience.
I celebrated an early birthday lunch at the Ivy Market Grill on Saturday 15 January 2022. I didn't have to wait long at all to be seated and was waited on by a lovely man from Bulgaria. His name sounded something like Loobombear. He was very attentive (not just with me but with all tables he was waiting on).
I always have the lovely green olives whenever I visit an Ivy restaurant - they never disappoint! I then had the blackened cod on a banana leaf with truffle and parmesan fries - sublime! At the end of my meal I was then presented with a small dessert with a candle, as a birthday gesture. It was really appreciated and quite a surprise!
I chose a glass of the red Cote de Rhones (It was around £9 per glass) and it was just perfect - right down to the correct temperature.
All in all, a lovely early birthday treat to myself. I would highly recommend.
