Hand chopped beef striploin, Tabasco dressing, cornichon, shallot, parsley, egg yolk and thick cut chips
Great venue to get together over some good food and wine. The staff were very courteous. The only downside was that we were seated near the door which made it draughty. I’d definitely return.
Beautiful atmosphere sat on the terrace warm enough and watched the hustle and bustle of the market.
Excellent meal with plenty of choice. Every dish was on point. Friendly and accommodating service.
Nice setting, good service and the food was good with a variety of dishes and the snow ball fight for dessert was lovely.
Thoroughly enjoyed the dining experience. Can definitely recommend.
Seated quickly, service quick and efficient. Food good and good variety with Christmas specials. A lot of people squeezed in so noise levels made it hard to have a conversation easily. Would recommend and would return happily.
As with all Ivy restaurants, the Market Grill was a pleasure. Try all the desserts... we did! :)
Food was wonderful, the staff a little surly and we got turfed off the table after 2 hours which I wasn't aware of when booking.
The food is always good - I have dined here 4 times and each time the standard of food and service is very good. I highly recommend the Ivy Brasserie.
Very poor experience, main was inedible with chewy overcooked fillet steak and undercooked pasta, sides were forgotten and arrived towards the end of the meal and raw. We didn’t pay for mains
Great food , great service and atmosphere
Good to very good food, sensible and sufficiently extensive wine list, lovely atmosphere, reasonably priced given the location. One negative note, the sirloin steak was a tad chewy which, given the premium to the rest of the menu, was disappointing.
Great location for a quick bite before the theatre, food was delicious. Only small issue service was slow at the end when we ordered coffees and the bill. Ideal spot in Covent garden to see the Christmas tree and lights.
Absolutely loved it! It was our first time at The Ivy and we were very impressed, especially from our waiter Alexandios!! He was extreme accommodating and made our night!! Me and my sister went for our joint birthday and he made it so rememberable and eventful, even treating us to a profiterole birthday cake each. We just wanted to point out the lengths our waiter went to, including all of his great recommendations. He’s a huge asset to The Ivy! We would definitely be back.
fantastic evening to celebrate a birthday, can't recommend highly enough
We expected more for the money. Service wasn’t great. Started was the best part. Found some plastic in my sweet potatoe curry.
Service was shocking from start to end. Before I got chance to walk through the door I was greeted by an unfriendly host who without even saying hello demanded to know if we had a booking. We did, and we were directed to our table, menus thrown down on 3 of 4 places. No-one came to serve us or ask for drinks order. There was a server going around all the tables behind us and kept walking into the chair of one of our guests, could clearly see we were ready to order and ignored us. I then asked a passing server if we could order who seemed irritated by it.
Food arrived, it was nice, drinks were finished, no replacements offered no one checked in throughout the meal. We sat with empty plates for 10+ mins while the same server continued walking by and hovering over other tables the entire time. Thankfully, another server passed by told him we were done. We were given desert menus and again, left. The server who had passed by, came back took the order sorted payment at the end - the only person who seemed to recognise we were there. Odd given we were squashed in the middle of other tables. On top of that, it was my mums birthday, I'd called the reservation line to make the booking and this had been noted - no mention whatsoever.
We left, passing the sour faced host again, utterly disappointed with the experience purely down to the shocking service.
Nice selection of vegan food and quickly served despite becoming busier.
Great food and customer service. I would go back again.
We love The Ivy but the Covent Garden branch isn't as good as both the Blackheath and Brighton branches. The decor is dated and dark, the food slightly less tasty and the service not as good.
Poor table, poor service, some food great and some average
Food burnt did have what we wanted service was poor had to ask 3 times were my drink was?
After enjoying a visit several years ago, unfortunately this visit was disappointing.
We were asked to sit at the bar for ten minutes on arrival, but were informed we couldn't be served with a drink!
When we did get a table, it was very close to the next one and the service was poor. Had to ask twice for the wine list and several times for our wine to be replenished, as the bottle was placed in a wine bucket at the opposite end of the room! The staff were pleasant and tried their best, but were clearly struggling to manage.
The food was average; expected better for the price.
Consequently, will be reluctant to visit again or recommend to others.
Poor unresponsive service, items on menu not available, very cold
Very good food, excellent staff, welcoming and helpful. Dim lighting.
Great building, lovely staff and food.
Lighting so poor had to use iPhone torch to read menu- as others did too.
Impossible to see to pick bones out of fish so ruined meal.
Very cold & draughty sat inside as my mum is 80 won’t go again
What a disappointment. This was a special meal for my parents 50th anniversary. We were stuck in the basement room, with next to no attention. Paper napkins, repeated asks for wine and drinks, slow service, rude service. Just not what we expected from The Ivy group. My mother was so upset by the whole experience I will write to Caprice Hdings to complain.
Very busy as expected and clearly that had not been taken into account with staffing. Some of the service staff were excellent others were terrible. Very long wait to get any wait staff attention. No fresh juice because the waiter said “we can not manage that with the number of covers we do”- then why be a restaurant? And worse put it on your menu!! My daughters pasta bolognaise was atrocious and dry- this should be an easy dish to do!! Overall a very very poor Ivy experience- we have eaten at the ivy chelsea garden, Richmond, Wimbledon, Cambridge and York and the main Ivy which were all far far far superior experiences. Avoid this branch where the food and service is not in line with the quality of the rest of the Ivy brand.
So excited to visit for the first time as I’ve always wanted to eat here. The food was outstanding, lovely atmosphere, the serving staff and Maitre D/Manager were all very friendly and polite. However my experience was slightly disappointing and let down by the rudeness of the person on Reception when we first entered the restaurant. I appreciate it was cold but the way were were told to get in and shut the door was so rude then we were just ignored for several minutes. Then told ‘follow me’ and the menus all dumped down on one plate without hanging them individually and then she walked away without saying anything like ‘your server will be with you shortly etc’ was just super rude - she may have been having a bad day, but honestly she really let your restaurant down. The chap on reception was we left could not have been more lovely however. It would not put me off returning but this receptionist perhaps needs some customer service training.
Friendly venue with good choice of food. Very helpful staff
Great food and excellent service! I would definitely come again!
Went for breakfast Sunday morning service not what we have had before staff were pleasant but service extremely slow when coffees eventually came they were cool by time breakfasts came drinks were finished food very nice but felt not the high end experience we have had before maybe staff shortages!!
Food and decor as good as ever but slow service
Had a lovely evening it would have been nice to have had a drink at bar whilst waiting for our table - food was great and our waiter was very attentive
Lovely ambience all in all a memorable evening
The layout of the tables in the restaurant meant that the door constantly opening with diners gave a regular icy blast. Warm when the door was shut, but felt for the people using the tables nearest the door, who were offered blankets. Also due to wether conditions, the outside eating was closed which meant we could have a drink at the bar before hand. Overall, a good dining experience, but not perfect.
This was a birthday celebration which was cancelled previously because of an accident within the family and then covid, we were really looking forward to it.
Tables very close together, social distancing virtually non existent. Food ok.ordered chips as a side order, these were Luke warm. Service very poor. No one came and asked us was everything ok, if they had we would of informed them of this. I felt as if we were in the way.
Ivy Market Garden, at Covent Garden. Maxwells Covent Garden
Was so disappointed at my experience here. We arrived at 6.40 for our table at 7. We were advised to either go away and come back for 7 or we could sit at the bar but they would not be able to serve a drink to us until our table available at 7. First impressions last unfortunately.
Very enjoyable evening with great food and a lovely atmosphere
