Service was excellent. We were warmly welcomed and drinks quickly arrived. A lot of care was taken with my dietary issues However I was disappointed in the menu choices available. On the positive side the food was well cooked and presentation was good.

My pea soup starter was ok if a little underseasoned. My wife’s mackerel paté looked waterey to me but she thought it was ok. Both were served with two small pieces of toast and in truth both dishes looked underwhelming and unimaginative. On now to the Sunday roast main course. Beef for me lamb for the missus. Both plates were served with lukewarm roast potatoes, the meat with a drizzle of gravy and in my case an Aunty Bessie lookalike Yorkshire pud. The veg, in a separate dish, consisted of pale looking parsnips that did not look roasted, cauliflower cheese and a mix of peas, broccoli and cabbage. We were given a single dessert spoon to transfer veg to plate with the inevitable bouncing of peas around the table. So, plates loaded, and with an extra drop of gravy requested we set about the mains. The parsnips had little taste, the taters were lukewarm, the two slivers of rare beef were fatty and a struggle to cut through. My wife left a quarter of her lamb and handed it to me to try. It was similarly rare and fatty. I chewed a bit and spat it out. The broccoli stems would have been easier to cut with a hacksaw. We had been seated by a half open patio door allowing wasps in and sun to scorch my left arm and ear. By the time we had finished, the last of my pint of shandy was warmer than the roast taters had been. There is a sign outside saying Under New Management and New Chef. Well, sorry guys but the close to 5star rating that encouraged us to make the booking must have been earned by the Old Management and Former Chef.

Oh dear what has happened to the jockey for years we’ve enjoyed excellent food and considered it value for money Last night was awful, poor choice on a very limited menu, actual food bland, portion size greatly reduced and an increase in price

Very nice restaurant for Sunday lunch. The starters were lovely - mushrooms on sourdough, pea soup and smoked mackerel pate were all great and the roast beef and lamb were both cooked very well as medium rare and generous portions.

We had a fabulous Sunday lunch. The food was outstanding and the service was impeccable. All the staff are very welcoming and from start to finish gave you total attention throughout. Oliver is amazing, very engaging and goes the extra distance which is a rarity. Having recently been during the week and had the most amazing evening supper it was a natural return for us to try their Sunday lunch. We cannot fault it and there is great selection to choose from coupled with beautiful wines. 10/10 😊

We have given this establishment many chances but always leave disappointed. The food is what draws us back but the service levels for whatever reason have dropped to the floor. Have to make eye contact to order food, drinks that were ordered came at separate times and were left on the bar. Had to make further eye contact to get additional water after asking previously and then had to ask for the final bill. Another disappointing visit when the Carpark wasn’t even a third full. No excuse.

Wonderful service from Oliver, we’d visited before so had a good idea of what to expect but this time the overall experience surpassed the last! The food here is really good, presented wonderfully and every mouthful is a delight of flavours. The mackerel starter was beautiful…very tasty. And the steak was Wow…cooked to perfection (medium), sticky toffee pudding was melt in your mouth. Highly recommend

Sad to see that the jockey has made some changes since we last visited at the start of the year. The roast beef is no longer nice slices as before and the quality has gone downhill. It wasn’t busy but the service wasn’t very attentive. The price is still the same for two courses and I would say it’s no longer value for money. Not sure we will return.

Having read previous reviews we gave them the benefit of the doubt as we had been before. BIG MISTAKE! If I could give them zero stars I would. Probably the worst Sunday Lunch we have ever had. The menu was limited nothing suitable for one of our party who at the moment cannot eat hot food, their best suggestion was to put her meal in the fridge to cool! The "hot" pork was slimy and luke warm, the beef was tough and the choose of veg was poor, over roasted potatoes, undercooked parsnips also a mish-mash of green beans, cabbage, leaks + broccoli, together with a large amount of cauliflower cheese (Which I detest). Puddings were OK apart from the Somerset brie pudding which would have been served hot, i.e. melted, with grapes, gooseberries and crackers luckily we got it served cold. This should be a starter not pud. Also on another point I don't have an issue with dogs in a bar but in the dining area and sat on someone's lap while eating is a bit much. I know it happens abroad but..... So the pub has changed hands and is no where as good as it used to be and we will not be going again.

Have eaten at the Jockey Inn on quite a few occasions now and usually very good food and value. On this occasion we were disappointed in the standard of the food. We had the Sunday Lunch and the Main Course was not the standard expected. For starter had the wild mushrooms which were on sourdough bread, served very tepid! Roast Beef was nice and pink but had obviously not been rested as it was very, very chewy whilst the Roast Pork consisted of more fat than meat. Vegetables were fine apart from roast parsnips which were very hard. Service was of the usual high standard, very welcoming and helpful. Hopefully this was a one off as we do enjoy using this establishment.

Absolutely fantastic Sunday lunch! Incredible food, beef just melted in the mouth, gorgeous roast potatoes and veg. The veggie option of vegetable Wellington was a welcomed change from the usual risotto for the veggie option. Amazing puddings to. Definitely will be coming back and bringing our friends.

We'd had our 1st Wedding Anniversary dinner that I'd booked 5 months ago unceremoniously cancelled by the venue 3 days before, so we were lucky enough to get a table at The Jockey Inn at short notice . Absolutely everything was perfect. It was my husband's first time there and he loved it so we shall definitely be going back.

Menu completely different to one online very misleading as there’s is no vegan and vegetarian options very limited menu. We use to go to the jockey before new management and the food and menu were amazing very disappointing there now and you can tell it’s gone down hill by the fact it is not as busy as it use to be.

The Jockey used to be our trusted place to visit for a good meal NOT ANY MORE - IT WAS ATROCIOUS. The chicken supreme looked as if it had been cooked in bleach. The 'jus' could easily have been just the blood seeping out of the chicken because that's what it looked like. The fried fish was 80% batter, there was so little fish it looked like it had been masticated and stuck together by the batter. We wont be visiting The Jockey any time soon in the near future - Good luck to the new owners!
