The Jockey Inn
food was very nice but service was poor, we were sat at our table by a waiter and left without a menu to look at. A couple who walked in after us then got there menu straight away, we were asked if we would like some water after about 10 mins and had to ask the waitress who asked if we would like water for our menu.
we had to follow up twice on our drinks as we didn't get them first it was just a coke then we ordered cocktail when we ordered the cocktail we asked about the coke and they said they would get it right away. But we didn't we had to ask again a waitress walking by for our drinks for the second time and finally got them. food was very good thought just service was very slow.
Wonderful little gem of a place. Food is excellent and the staff are welcoming and very friendly. The surroundings are very comfortable - well worth a visit
The Jockey is a lovely pub, ambiance is really nice and friendly. I would go again, but I would choose a later sitting. We had a 6.45 table, but all felt a bit rushed after ordering. The food was delicious, except maybe the duck was overdone, a tad rubbery but tasted lovely. Everything else was great, especially the Sticky Toffee pudding ! A great choice of wine too.
Great find will be back, nice decor, great attentive staff really enjoyed the experience
The staff are lovely. The meal was average. Not good enough for the price.
Absolutely love The Jockey Inn, especially the fabulous lady with the wonderful hair who served us.
Would recommend for all occasions. Eight of us had Sunday lunch and we all left having had fantastic food in a lovely atmosphere, which is hard to find these days.
Great place, lovely food. Small but tasty menu. Will definitely return.
We booked the Jockey Inn as we had a weekend away for our 10th Wedding Anniversary. The service and food was excellent. They even brought us a special dessert plate with an anniversary message. If we find ourselves in the area we would book again and we will be recommending this to our friends and family.
Only disappointment was that they had made no attempt to crisp the skin on my sea bass
Welcoming and excellent service, very good food in very nice surroundings.
Had an excellent evening with family and friends celebrating a birthday. The food was superb and all the staff very friendly. An ice cream birthday cake with a candle was brought in also, without being requested. Will definitely be back.
I always enjoy taking my family and friends for lunch and evening dinner for special occasions to The Jockey because their food and service is always exemplary and a joy to recommend.
We were with a party of 7 who went to The Jockey on Sunday for a special occasion and were so appreciative of the service received. We sprung 2 vegan meal requests on the staff with no prior warning and without any fuss, were rewarded with wonderful food. We have always been fans of The Jockey but are even more so now!
Very busy which mitigates slow service but an apology would have been welcome. Food excellent as always.
We arrived and were taken straight to the table and served with drinks and perused the menu excellent smoked ham and then even better roast beef Gluten Free no problems excellent staff highly recommended!
Its a tardis; much bigger inside than it looks on the outside. Given that we'd booked 3 weeks in advance, disappointed to be given a table that in our view was arguably in the worst position in a corner. When voicing our displeasure we were quickly moved to a much more appropriate more central spot. The food and service was good. Will probably visit again
Excellent ambience. Friendly and efficient staff. Food was delicious
The food was fabulous, excellent staff. I enjoyed it so much I have booked to come back again. The decor is lovely.
I did not think THE JOCKEY could improve. Wrong, it did last Sunday. Brilliant
Overall excellent service and food!
Excellent meal and great service from very good staff
One of the best meals we have had,and we have lots of meals out. We can’t fault anything,it was all perfect
Excellent food and service a great time was had by all.
Food quality is ok but it used to be a lot better.
The menu needs inspiration and change.
Menu and food quality is falling behind the competition.
The ambiance is lovely and the staff are attentive.
Always have a fantastic meal at the Jockey. One of two favourite go-to places to eat on special occasions. The lunch time fixed price deals are exceptionally good value.
Enjoyed a lovely evening service level excellent and nice to see how friendly
Meal was great all courses can on time warm and I would pay anywhere
For that meal
The whole experience of our mid-week lunch for two was very good in that everything took place in a seamless way from being welcomed until we left, whether it was how the courses flowed to the quality and presentation of the food and the very reasonable cost at the end.
Unfortunately, the service was poor. When our order was being taken, the waitress (Lily) was pre-occupied and did not give us her full attention. Items were forgotten and had to be reminded about. The food was really good and the pub itself was really good, it is just a shame it was let down by the service.
Really enjoyed our Sunday Lunch at the Jockey Inn. Lovely welcome, great table, very attentive team. Looking forward to our next visit!
Beautiful interior, friendly and efficient service, delicious food with good menu choices to suit all tastes/needs.
We had a lovely meal, it was our Anniversary and they brought out a plate with a scoop of ice-cream over a crumbled base, with Happy Anniversary written in chocolate! It was a lovely surprise.
We will certainly go to eat there again, lovely staff, food and atmosphere....Cant wait!
Very good. Can be bit noisy - if that bothers you ask for table near bar.
Excellent evening. Lovely ambience, all four of us loved their food. Would definitely go again.
The food and service is consistently excellent and the menu changes regularly. The vegetarian options are imaginative and delicious. We love The Jockey Inn and the staff are allways welcoming, attentive and pleasant.
This is the first time we have been and overall it was a very nice experience. The food choices were good and the food was lovely. The waiter was very pleasant and professional, although the only reason I’ve not given this 5 stars is because two tables who were next to us came in after us but both were asked for drink orders well ahead of us, then food orders before we had even been asked for a drink order. They were then offered bread several times and we weren’t offered any. It looked so nice we asked for some and it was lovely. So there was a lack of attention in this respect but otherwise it was a very nice lunch.
It might also be worth noting that the car park has dividers between spaces that are like raised concrete kerb stone markers. Because it was a bit tight parking my husband let myself and mother in law out of the car. She didn’t see the marker and her ankle twisted on it and she fell onto the ground. These are a little bit dangerous in my view. She didn’t break anything thankfully but was a bit shaken and sore for a few days after. Therefore please be careful especially when the car park is busy or it’s dark.
Absolutely beautiful place lovely for special occasions for family and friends
Never fails to impress. Great food, great ambience, great value for money so enjoy coming here
The Jockey has become one of our favourites. Pity its not closer
A very good gastro pub. Very busy on the night we were there but service was good and the food excellent.
This was our first visit for dining having had drinks previously.
The menu, food and service all round was excellent.
Only one “bit” of negativity is that it was incredibly warm inside which is great for the winter as it will be lovely and cosy, but in the summer it needs some aircon to keep it at a more ambient temperature
Will definitely be going back with friends.
