The Jolly Farmer
The Jolly Farmer now had a state of the art exclusive dinning pod, it can fit up for 8 people and is the perfect place to spend your evening
The Jolly Farmer is a historic pub located in the beautiful countryside of Cookham Dean. The pub dates back to 1788 and many of its original features are still in place. Since 1987, The Jolly Farmer has been owned by the community.
We serve a selection of traditional pub dishes and wood fired pizzas.
If you're longing for a warm fireplace during the cold months, then come and keep warm next to one of our toasty log fires. We also have a stunning beer garden, offering the best spot in Cookham for a refreshing drink or an alfresco meal when the sun is shining.
And for the children, we have our popular play area, so the whole family are welcome to have a Jolly time, even the dog.

Good choice of food & very nice garden. App was way to use and quick service. Food was excellent. Recommended.
Came mid-afternoon with my girls and they loved their pizzas and my roast beef was delicious! App was easy to use, food came out quickly and service came with a smile. Happy days!
Delicious Sunday lunch. The app was a bit of a faff to work. Great outside space too.
The food was really nice, we all enjoyed our meal but the service wasn't particularly great which wasn't the fault of the staff but their ordering system. It is all now done on an app, all our food came out at different times, we had starters coming out before mains, some of the parties food was completely forgot.
Plus also the wait time was too long, it took about an hour and 15 minutes for us to receive the food once ordered & that was the quickest.
Ordering on the App was impossible. Understaffed couldn’t get anyone to help but eventually a young waitress did her best.
Disappointing food a long wait for the food. After asking 3 times and a 30min wait for our granddaughters ice cream . Will not be returning.
Good food and great service. Plenty of outdoor space for kids to move aorund.
Food amazing but staff don't know about drinks, asked how much it was for a jug of pimms, he said £8 so I ordered a jug, guy came out with a glass, I said I asked for a jug, he went away and came back with a jug of pimms and soda. Pressed the button on the table twice and no one came, eventually someone came over and changed it. After our meal I asked for the bill and saw that the jug of pimms wasn't £8 it was actually £24, I told the lady that I was told it was £8 and I wouldn't of had it if I new it was that much. She didn't care all she wanted was my money. This was the first time I I've been to the jolly farmer as it was recommended by a friend but will NEVER return as they don't really care about new customers, just their money.
Pizza was tasty and the garden is lovely with lots of space.
Lunch in the garden area for three. All had a pasta dish; mushroom for my wife, salmon for my son and blue cheese for me. Plus drinks. Rebellion IPA was excellent. Food was simple but cooked and presented well.
Love this pub! Great food & cool ambience!
Visited the Jolly Farmer for the first time for a business lunch and we were both very impressed by both the charming garden and the marquee set-up. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. The food came out quickly and was excellent and very good value for money. I’ve visited a few pubs since re-opening and I must say the Jolly Farmer was the best by far regards Covid19 measures, service, quality of food and value for money. Looking forward to returning again once indoor dining is permitted. Many thanks for a most enjoyable business lunch!
We had an excellent steak pie and fish and chips. The steak pie was definitely homemade and the portions were extremely generous! We had a most enjoyable first experience at The Jolly Farmer and will be returning soon!
Food is good, fair value and the app is very easy to use and order
We where seated in the outside areas has not heaters, so we moved into the Tent which was better, but still unheated.
Overall I would say it's pleasant
Went for family lunch on Sunday. Really happy to see that all problems experienced by other reviewers seem to have been addressed. Were given a warm welcome by staff, no problems ordering, marquee and garden area not too busy, food came quickly and was hot and delicious (we enjoyed their wood fired pizzas very much), staff on hand for ordering any extras. Really enjoyable afternoon, we live locally and will be back soon.
It was very dark as it was evening time, I understand that we were eating outside but some better lighting could have been provided to be able to see the food which we were eating. Also my lamb burger was dry and the chip got cold very quickly.
When we booked we were not told that the kitchen would not open until 17:00 and so we had to sit and wait until it opened. The lady who told us this just informed us; there was no apology.
The app used to order food and drinks would have been a good idea if it had worked properly. Even they gave up and took our order manually in the end.
When the food arrived it was cold. To be fair, we we sitting outside in a tent and so we didn't expect it to stay hot for long, but the vegetables were stone cold when they came out.
The pies did not have any sauce in them and so were dry. The pastry was like concrete. They did bring some gravy out when we asked for it, though.
What a stunning family beer garden we had a lovely lunch, delicious food, friendly staff.. Value for your money, we’ll definitely be back without a doubt! Absolutely love this place!!
We all enjoyed our crepes and would recommend them.
We had the courgette rosti followed by the homemade fish pie and both were excellent! Lovely setting and great staff!
Visited during lockdown, had a table in the gazebo. Tables well spaced out, food was really good, well presented and nice and hot. Staff were very engaging but not overbearing - will certainly visit again soon
Food was not very good. Wait a bit long. Wine was overpriced
Eaten here many times and the food has been better! But overall a good experience.
The ambience was not the usual, but we are still in extraordinary times!
Waited over an hour for our chicken roast to arrive, when it did it was hunters chicken covered in salty gravy and they replaced the carrots with peppers and didn’t even mention or acknowledge they had to replace items!
Took over an hour and twenty mins to get starters but were cold mains come out at different times like 20 mins apart so some were finished before others food arrived it was a Disaster from start to finish
Waited over 2hrs for meals to arrive. We had to ask when our food would be coming and only then did a member of staff go and get 1 of 4 meals and then left the other 3 of us without food until we then had to go and ask yet again when our food would be arriving. I understand they are adjusting to working outside but it was shocking.
Many others were also complaining of the same thing. No organisation either as we were asked for payment 3 times by 3 different staff members.
Would not go back unfortunately.
Service was good considering that the app wasn’t working.
Just a suggestion: if you could have an outside bar serving drinks, it would save the poor waiters running in & out with drinks.
Burger was amazing though :))
Pity they haven't opened the play area yet for kids, a reason why we loved this place. Playparks all over are open, not sure why they are still keeping this closed...
Lovely food, but service was very slow, first time here and was a shame we had to wait so long for food also one meal came out and had to wait 20mins for the second meal.
As lovely as the food was sadly we won’t return.
Great thanks, so good to be back eating out again. Set up well for social distancing. Good service despite being busy
Lovely food, the app was so easy to use and the staff were amazing
The first girl who served and assisted was great! I don’t know her name but she had funky, great styled high liner so please pass on compliments she was great! The rest of the servers were boring, no interaction, brought 2 meals 10 minutes after the first meals were brought over, no cutlery so food went cold quickly whilst waiting, wine with a 200% mark up is ridiculous and extortionate. Had to ask for condiments not offered etc... food was very tasty though and portion sizes ok. I would maybe advise stop putting pies on slate plates so you can offer gravy with the meal also.
Nice food however not much choice with regards to drinks and a jug of pimms was £24???
Also most tables are under gazebos even though the sun was out it was freezing.
Food and drink were very good but service was badly hampered by it issues which was the only downside
Really easy - I booked standard which was outside and could select any table once we arrived - all spaced out nicely and you ordered everything on your phone and it was delivered to your table.
Wow! A great find! Fabulous big garden in the sun with a kids play area and amazing food! Will certainly be back!
Great garden area. Food good, pain ordering everything online first
Friendly service and good food and beer. Pleasant ambience.
Great outdoor space, quick service, quiet location.
We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening at The Jolly on Tuesday. We both had the prawns and scallops as a starter followed by chicken curry for myself and spaghetti bolognese for my friend. The starters were delicious and my chicken curry was one of the best I’ve had. Staff are very attentive and working so hard considering how busy they are...it’s even busier than Eat Out to Help Out last August so a little patience and understanding should be given and expected. Great garden, great staff & great food!
Jolly Farmer is always great. This time as you had to order through your phone with little reception and then not getting on their WiFi meant it was a faffy. A menu at the entrance on a board customers could take a photo on could work.
Love the beer garden plenty of space between tables and hoping the play area opens soon.
Great food and amazing pizzas!
