The Jolly Farmer
We serve a selection of traditional pub dishes and wood fired pizzas.
If you're longing for a warm fireplace during the cold months, then come and keep warm next to one of our toasty log fires. We also have a stunning beer garden, offering the best spot in Cookham for a refreshing drink or an alfresco meal when the sun is shining.
And for the children, we have our popular play area, so the whole family are welcome to have a Jolly time, even the dog.
Saturday and Sunday: 12pm - 4pm and 6pm - 9pm
Always love our visits to the Jolly Farmer! Brilliant garden for children and simple uncomplicated menu so very family friendly.
Went for Sunday lunch with the family and everything was ok except for the portion size.. we all got tiny bits of meat and minuscule veg for ridiculous pricing. The Yorkshire pudding was big enough to cover the lack of food underneath it! Will be going back for drinks but certainly will not be eating there again.
This is a nice country pub. Food is okay but not great.
We had booked a table, we arrived on a sunny Friday and the garden area was very busy.
There were a lot of extra food orders coming in, the staff coped very well, and we were served in good time. The food, fish chips and mushy peas, was excellent and arrived nice and hot.
Wonderful place to go for a Sunday lunch, the food was great so as the service. Pet friendly and lovely atmosphere.
The menu choice was very good, nothing too elaborate, but good and wholesome. Good value, friendly staff.
We love coming here. Very friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere. It is our pub of choice when we are heading out. Thank you for a lovely lunch.
We went for a birthday / Sunday lunch. Although there were six of us and they were very busy, we were served within a reasonable time by very friendly staff. This was probably the best Sunday roast I have had. The children’s meals were of a reasonable size for an older child and priced very reasonably. I can see why the Jolly Farmer was so busy, and I would recommend booking so as not to be disappointed. We will definitely be going back again.
We had a great girlie night with good food, good wine, attentive service and the chance to have a long overdue catch up - thank you for looking after us.
Nice Sunday roast with the family.
The chicken was lovely and served very quick
Good traditional pub with open fire and small, but uncrowded dining room. Large outdoor area with plenty of seating and kids play area. Service was friendly and quick, and the food (sunday lunch) was good. The pub and restaurant were bustling, giving the place a nice country pub ambience.
Excellent Sunday lunch, highly recommended
Good fast service
My family and I had a wonderful Sunday lunch at the Jolly Farmer. Most of us had roast beef, one had the roast chicken and I had the monkfish - all delicious. We particularly loved the cavolo nero - I had to stop myself from going into the kitchen and asking for the chef's recipe! Definitely worth going back for. All washed down with a particularly exquisite wine. Desserts were chocolate brownies and apple crumbles, both plate-scrapingly good. Atmosphere was lovely and peaceful, a really cosy vibe. Staff were welcoming and friendly. This was my first dining experience in Cookham, known for its great places to eat, and it did not disappoint. I look forward to returning!
Always a good meal at The Jolly Farmer. Lovely atmosphere and nice fire places.
Quaint country pub serving locally sourced meats from farms a few miles away. Fish bought by the landlord direct from Billingsgate. Everything we had was really tasty & fresh. Service was lovely. Open fires. Proper pub with excellent food & service.
Had a really nice sunday lunch here. Nice roaring fire, excellent service, not too crowded. Would highly recommend.
Cosy pub with open fires, great beer and child friendly. However the food was very average and it cost our family (2 adults and 2 kids) 90 pounds for a Sunday lunch! If you want a cosy pub with great beer and a plate of chips this is perfect. However wouldn’t recommend having a meal. Our fish tasted like nothing (Waitrose frozen is much better) and the other meals were also very average.
The burger was cooked at too low a temperature and the apple crumble was sour.
New Year's Eve dinner with my husband. Warm hospitality in local pub with very good food. Live music a bonus. Have eaten here on several occasions and always a pleasure.
Limited menu but good quality. Comfortable pub eating
Lovely company, lovely food, lovely people. Thanks.
Although quiet (Monday night) the atmosphere was warm and friendly.
The food was great quality - freshly prepared and very tasty.
Excellent value for money.
Great cosy pub with excellent local beers. Fires lit in winter. Prefect pizzas that change regularly. Friendly staff. If you want a pint, pizza or more look no further than the Jolly Farmer.
Excellent pizza as usual - thin & crispy - and mussels were delicious.
Nice country pub, service was very good and the team very attentive. Had a lovely fish and chips lunch and reasonably priced. My only negative was the wooden chopping boards lunch was served on. I don't like this in any restaurant. Prefer my dinner on a clean plate.
This was the third time of eating at the Jolly Farmer and the food and atmosphere has been really good each time. The staff were helpful and attentive enough to retain a relaxed eating experience. The only minus I would add was that we took a surprise birthday cake to celebrate the occasion and the (probably inexperienced) waiting staff member brought desert plates and set them out before the cake arrived, slightly spoiling the surprise...but apart from that a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
Amazing roast! Really quick attentive service. 10/10 for the roast.
Great local pub. Excellent beer and great food. Lovely mussels and good soup. Could not ask for more
We choose the Jolly Farmer as it was on our walking route, we had booked a table but decided to sit outside instead as it was a sunny day. The pub has a nice atmosphere and variety of costumers from families to walkers. We enjoyed our roast dinner, service was prompt despite our early arrival and the number of costumers, staff were friendly and accommodating. There was a good range of beer.
Great place, great value for money, great outdoors for kiddies
We enjoyed Sunday lunch, the food was well cooked and very adequate. The roast sirloin was rare as it should be and there was a good selection of red wines at reasonable prices. The only fault was the over large Yorkshire pudding almost covering the rest of the meal on a too small plate! This made it difficult to eat until the Yorkshire had been demolished first!
The day was not warm enough to use the pleasant garden; but a lot of brave souls did which meant that the inside restaurant was rather sparse for a Sunday. I can recommend the outside area as I have been there before. There is adequate space and a separate area for children to play.
The sweet course was typical for a Sunday with not a huge choice; but we enjoyed Sticky Toffee Pudding and Apple Crumble.
What a lovely find! Good food, nice menu, lovely wait-staff, and a really lovely old country pub. Clean, comfortable, and a perfect gathering place - no brass and glass in sight! If you want an authentic country pub, well run, then do try the Jolly Farmer. We will go again and again.
Great playground for the children at the bottom of the garden
We dined here with our two young kids while staying in a hotel in nearby Maidenhead.
Really great children's play area; extensive outdoor dining space. Good quality simple pub food, cooked from scratch. The friendly staff made us feel welcome. Good value. We look forward to returning when we are in the area again.
Perfect evening out with family!
Great to come back to the village and find 'The Jolly' hasn't changed into a gastro pub and is still at the heart of the village as it always has been and should be!
Absolutely excellent food, but the kitchen couldn't cope with a full pub of eating customers. We waited 1h 40 mins for food..which was excessive and no one warned us when we sat down about the long wait. Shame as the food was amazing..
Very cosy, homely, old English style country pub with lots of character and atmosphere, plenty of parking on site too. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good, hearty, home cooked British food reasonably priced. I like the fact that the menu is quite small, as I really got the impression that all the food is seasonal, fresh and cooked to order on site. Booked for a work team Christmas lunch and we had a great time. My only suggestions for improvement are that we could have done with some music on in the background, as we got there quite early (12.30pm booking) and it was quite quiet at first and took a while for the atmosphere to build, until more diners arrived and they lit the fires. Also took a while for starters to arrive. Overall though I was very impressed and would highly recommend.
we had family Sunday lunch here and it was lovely, tasty food. the staff were attentive and friendly and the atmosphere warm.
Lovely food, good atmosphere, made to feel very welcome and great open fire.
We were driving around the country side and due to bad planning (only decided to go in the morning and most recognized restaurants were fully booked) "had " to book this pub.
The pub is lovely inside and well worth a visit to enjoy a pint or two.
However the food was substandard with extremely dry chicken and the roast was chewy and one could taste the low quality of the meat.
