We have been to The Keg in northern DFW, but the first time at the Arlington Highlands location. From start to finish, our experience was poor to fair. The hostesses were all unwelcoming, a chip on their shoulder. A smile goes a long way. My husband and I made a reservation to celebrate our wedding anniversary. This is the first time that the host and/or waiter did not acknowledge. Both of those were not a major deciding factor in my star review. For making a reservation, we were disappointed in the slow service overall. We waited 17 minutes just for the waters. Lots of waiting for everything - wine list, food, orders, check, etc. It was annoying to find out that a side I ordered was no longer available. I had to ask about it after the waiter came to ask how our food/entrée was. At a restaurant like this, I would have expected a better outcome. Like a smile, transparent and prompt communication goes a long way. Our waiter was friendly, just incredibly slow and seemed new which is why I tried not letting the moment get spoiled. When we first arrived, I saw it was busy, but lightened up during our stay. This did not improve service. Lastly, the food was not great, but good. My order was not to the description of the menu. I ordered blackened chicken and was not blackened at all, but the seasoning good. It was a regular pan-fried chicken. Vegetables were a tad undercooked. I understand we are still in a pandemic, but it has been 2 years now. We went to a different Keg location several months ago and it was delicious and a wonderful experience. I think it was in or near Plano.

We got up and left. We sat there for 20 minutes before anyone came to our table to take an order. We ordered drinks from the bar and appetizers first. We waited another 20 minutes before our watered down drinks came from the bar. During this time a table behind us was seated (when we placed our order) and got their drinks and appetizers before we did. We never got our appetizers and we were sending the watered down drinks back. And, we still had not placed our dinner order. We asked for a manager and they never showed when we were told they were coming so, we got up and left. I was not going to pay $200 for dinner when we could not even get bread after being there 40 minutes. We went across the parking lot and got served food within 20 minutes. I do not plan on going back.

We always love this place, coming 2 times a year for the past 4 years or so. This time was not the norm as we had a slightly larger party, explaining a little slower service. The server was very good. We are accustomed to our steaks being cooked perfectly but to the last person, each steak was slightly overcooked and a little tough. We did not send the steaks back as it would appear to be too picky since medium rare is close to medium, I guess.

There’s so many good things to say about this restaurant. 1. No wait (reservations) I’ve been to other restaurants will keep you waiting for a table even with reservations. (seated as soon as we walked into the door) 2. Friendly staff greeting you at the door. 4. Clean 5. Waiter (William) was attentive and very knowledgeable of the menu 6. Food was excellent!!!. The rib eye was cooked to perfection. Every part of the steak was flavorful, juicy and tender(melt in my mouth). The veggies was seasoned perfectly! We will definitely dine here again. Love coming to The Keg. 50Year Anniversary selections were nice. Goat cheese appetizer and French onion sirloin were great. Always order the carrot cake and noticed immediately it has changed. Still good but the old version still reigns king. Very nice service and attention from Josh and trainee, Tim. Very accommodating without being intrusive. Nice evening meal without a crowd.
