Warm friendly welcoming lady front of house
went here for a 49th birthday meal on a Saturday night and i was a little nervous if i'm honest as i have never eaten anything like this but thought hey just roll with it. Well i was blown away by the staff and the food. the staff were friendly and welcoming and helped picked the best wine for the food we had. The food itself was by far the best i have ever tried and well worth every penny i spent. I couldn't have asked for a better meal and company.
Starters were excellent. Main courses were good except cod which was salty. Desserts were unusual but didn't taste as expected but not in a good way. Petit fours brought with bill rather than with coffee. Service was adequate but not good
Very quiet experience, almost like dining in a strangers dining room. You could easily hear other tables conversations which I didn’t enjoy and we felt as though we had to whisper. The background music was barely audible so could’ve done with turning up a notch.
Food and wine was lovely and the service was great. Decor and layout of restaurant was stunning.
Second time I have been in recent months. Amazing customer service, fab vegan menu if booked in advance. Be aware the there is a significant price increase at the weekends. However, their red pepper risotto was to die for!
A real gem, right in the heart of Southsea. Visited for my wife's birthday and we loved it.
Food was very good. Atmosphere was just right.

Excellent service and incredible food. Who would think parsnip sorbet would work - but it so does!! Cannot recommend The Kitchen highly enough.

Long wait between courses. Food was not great. Very disappointing for the prices they are charging.
We were greeted with ‘hang on a minute am finishing this’ before being sat at a table at the top of the stairs and the floorboards bounced as the staff walked up and down

Service was slow / disjointed and they were not overly busy
The food was enjoyable the venison fantastic but We felt the staff -although pleasant- need a bit more finesse
It was my husbands birthday and this was iced on to his dessert plate which was a nice touch but on leaving we were left to hunt for our coats so overall
a little disappointing ....
Bit of a disappointment, food looked the part but was lacking in flavour, service was slow and unfortunately a glass of wine served to the table was completely off!
