The Laughing Gravy
Relaxed and inviting, we offer an incredible menu of fresh, seasonal dishes with a well-chosen wine list that reflects our attention to detail.
Occupying the ground floor of an original foundry building, the restaurant, which is in walking distance from both the Old and Young Vic, seats up to 50 diners and has a buzzy bar.
Entspanntes Ambiente in einem gemütlichen Restaurant. Super Essen von hohem Standard in angenehmer Atmosphäre mit aufmerksamen Service. Wärmstens zu empfehlen!
We enjoyed a lovely meal at The Laughing Gravy. The food was delicious and the setting was nice - it felt local and intimate. The service was great too. Would definitely recommend for a bit of a treat in Southwark.
Lovely food and a nice venue with a great atmosphere.
The food was outstanding and the environment was lovely
The restaurant strikes a perfect balance of friendliness and professionalism. The ambience is informal, the food delicious and well presented, and the cocktails particularly good. I strongly recommend the Sloe Gin Fizz.
A very nice experience before a play at the Old Vic. We had a nice memory from a first dinner at the laughing gravy a long time ago and weren’t disappointed.
A little expensive but the food was excellent!! We enjoyed the restaurant an would return.
Beautiful food, pleasant staff, they even remembered it was my birthday and gave me a free pudding on a plate with Happy Birthday written on it.
Walked past this place loads but glad I finally gave it a try. Quite eclectic menu food beautifully cooked and the white chocolate ice cream with Patron XO liqueur is particularly recommended. Service attentive but unobtrusive. Alround great dinner.
Food smelt amazing and I wasn't disappointed when mine arrived. Would go back.
Delicious main. My desert still had plastic wrapping stuck to it, a bit off putting.
Another wonderful lunch here. Great place for a business lunch or leisure lunch! Food is really good and the service flawless. Thanks
This was a real find-excellent food and very comfortable surroundings. would definitely return
Good food and bold flavours. Would visit again. Tables well spaced so you don't feel crowded.
We had a lovely dinner for 5, menu was interesting and very tasty and good wines. The service was friendly and attentive and my colleagues all loved it. We will be back.
One of the best Sunday roasts in London. Highly recommend
First time at the Laughing Gravy, we had the Sunday Roast, food was excellent and plentiful, service was prompt, staff friendly and efficient, definitely want to return to try more from the menu.
The food is really good. Nicely laid out plates. They charge a very high Tip (optional) £30 on a table of 4 persons.
Always a great venue with superb food and wine, and very pleasant service. A little surprisingly, the menu rarely changes and the prices are becoming a little steep for the location. Nevertheless, still a firm favourite.
Great wine list, and interesting menu, but food wasn't as good as I'd remembered from previous visits, and service was a little hit and miss.
Our second visit - and we will come back again :) Lovely food, good selection of wine and great service !
Fantastic food and service.
Would go again
Excellent as always. Never disappoints. The menu continues to be innovative and delicious and the macaroni cheese is to die for. The service it a delight.
Lovely cosy environment, good service and quality cocktails . Food a tad experimental so can be a little bit hit and miss in terms of how well it works, but is always cooked well and nicely presented.
Our 25th Wedding Anniversary, we had a relaxing walk over from watching the London Marathon, found the restaurant and had a ball!...A Scotsman (me) an Australian and an Irishman...there’s a joke in there! Easy craic, relaxed chat. (2 hosts - “waiters” is a disservice)...the meal was superb!...Scotch Egg - WoW! Can’t recommend highly enough! Great Welcome. Ambience and a bit of a golden nugget!
As always great food
Service is great and always friendly
Will be back for sure
Great service and excellent food!
Great food. One of the pest starters I have ever had
Great food, both meals and deserts. Service was good, the only thing was that we had to wait a while to order our meals and get the check. Otherwise it was a wonderful experience and I recommend that you go try it.
Wonderfully relaxed, yet professional service from a charming team
Amazing food excellent service beautiful cocktails would definitely go back
Outstanding food ambiance service 3rd visit and will be back as often as possible
Our first time, and we’ll certainly be back. A most enjoyable evening, good service and lovely food.
Again, a most memorable evening with outstanding food, drinks and service.
Overpriced - what was essentially a big bowl of macaroni cheese was £15 with no sides. Steak was £26 with no sides. A bowl of watery greens was £6. Should have been mentioned at time of ordering that the sides were additional. Macaroni cheese was nice but too much of it; ordered it with bacon but this didn’t come; mentioned it and then a bowl of bacon arrived which wasn’t really the point. Would have preferred to just take it off the bill. The food was good quality but doesn’t merit these prices. The blackberry, lime and ginger ale mocktail was great.
has to be one of, if not the best Sunday roasts in London. Staff are so friendly and the food is delicious. I would recommend The Laughing Gray.
We came for lunch before walking over to the Imperial War Museum. The food was very good, my son particularly liked the macaroni and cheese. You can tell the chef definitely takes pride in the quality of the food preparation.
The restaurant is nice however were a bit disappointing especially the heritage carrots which were seemingly almost uncooked a bit dante for our liking. The pork pie meat was well seasoned but the pastry a bit Ginsberg ie not crisp but more moist
The burgers were very good and nicely cooked the venison wellington excellent.
House wines was also very good at £24 a bottle
Overall good but let down by the starters
Always a delight to dine at the Laughing Gravy. Great food and wines and always a great night out,
