The Lewinnick Lodge
Nestled atop the cliffs of Pentire Headland, with stunning views across the mighty Atlantic & beyond, the Lewinnick Lodge offers a spectacular dining experience.
"The lodge' is open for breakfast at 9am and serves throughout the day until 10pm (10.30pm in the summer). Our ethos is simple, fresh seasonal produce prepared on the premises, using the very best the Cornish larder has to offer. We aim to cater for all tastes on our regular menus but if you are a lover of fresh fish & seafood then our twice daily changing specials will have you coming back time and again.
Other facilities include, large sun terrace, beer garden, open fireplace, large public bar with pool table/live sport. We are also dog friendly in the bar area.
Lunch: Monday - Sunday: 12:00pm - 5:00pm
Dinner: Monday - Sunday: 5:00pm - 10:00pm
Lovely food and a lot of choice on the two menus. Unfortunately, we had our back to the sea and were sat at a table in front of the bar, so it felt busy at times. We will book again, but early next time for a table by the bay windows. We highly recommend it!
Enjoyable evening with family and friends, let down by the poor table service.
Waiting staff a bit too 'casual' in their approach, resulting in only half the Sharing dish being delivered to the table i.e. Baked Cornish Camembert, Focaccia and Cider Chutney delivered to the table without the Focaccia...a 10 minutes wait to engage the waiting staff and then another 5-10 minutes to get the Focaccia.
Again for desserts, we were handed the dessert menu and had to wait 15-20 for the waiting staff to return to the table to take our order.
Considering the choice of restaurants on offer, it may be some time before I give Lewinnick Lodge another chance to impress.
Lovely for a date or special event. Service, food and view amazing!
Eat here quite often and always have a good experience.
Came back to you after a few years since our first visit. Lovely place, amazing views of the sea and to fistral beach. Lovely atmosphere and food.
A nice clean modern interior, friendly staff serving nice beer and good food. My hake was lovely
All with spectacular views of fistral beach one way and the headland the other.
Third visit here and although on first viewing the menu does look to be quite limited the food was excellent and the views to die for.
I’d been lead to believe that this place was outstanding. We arrived and were given a really nice table by the window. Our drinks orders were taken and we ordered our starters from the specials menu. My partner ordered king scallops and at £10 we expected a little more than three baby ones. Somewhat over priced. Our mains arrived 35 mind after our starters were cleared away. Nobody came over to tell us that there was a delay and when we finally got hold of someone to ask, we were just told that the kitchen was busy.
It was rather expensive for what we actually got and the drinks are on par with London prices.
The staff were nice but the service incredibly slow.
It was nice, but it wasn’t fantastic and I’d probably look to try somewhere else first on my next visit to Newquay.
Great food, great views, magical sunsets, friendly and accommodating.
We have dined frequently at Lewinnick but was really disappointed with our meal on Sunday. Both our roast dinners were cold and tasteless, the dessert poor value for money and a particular member of staff very rude. Will be a while before we visit again unfortunately.
Lovely setting and great views from the terrace. Food was very tasty and cream tea was delicious. Not the cheapest lunch but the location was worth the expense.
Children’s portions were very big -asked for pasta with cheese and came as a very large bowl of plain pasta and had to ask for cheese - food ok but not as good as we have had in the past and just a little disappointing
Unfortunately the only way I could describe all the food that arrived at our table was beige, very disappointed, all the food was microwaved. The location and service was great, big shame about the food!
A wonderful and luxurious place for our short family break. Beautiful and relaxing and comforting and simply wonderful in every way.
Lovely meal and good service as always. Expensive but quality food. Very popular place nowadays with locals and visitors alike. Need to book to get the best window tables.
We had a brilliant birthday meal for my father last year and this time around it was just as enjoyable, thank you!
Beautiful setting- watched the sunset as we ate our puddings!- with delicious food and great service.
Birthday balloons are a lovely touch.
Will be back!
Brilliant meal capped off with top notch service and, considering the quality of the meal and the environment, great value too. Wholeheartedly recommend a visit, we shall certainly be returning.
Thoroughly enjoyed the evening and the food was great
Lovely elegant boutique dining. Delightful and inspiring setting. Food beautifully prepared and tasty. My only reservation was that I expected (from the description, and price) the breakfast orange juice to be very freshly squeezed. I don't think it was.
Thoroughly enjoyed my father's birthday meal last Thursday. The staff were very attentive and pleasant and the food was spot on! My parents can sometimes be a hard act to please when it comes to dining out, but both said that they would definitely like to return in the future , many thanks to everyone concerned.
Wonderful evening with friends and delicious food. Our friends had never been as they live in Brighton but they were extremely impressed. It was a shame that the large birthday party table were so incredibly loud! However, it didn't really spoil the evening and we had a great round corner table overlooking the sea. Fabulous sunset that evening.
Found the Lodge on trip advisor and thought the location was excellent so decided to check it out for Sunday lunch. We, being the hubbie, sister-in-law and brother-in-law and mother-in-law and I were not disappointed. The location is stunning, the food excellent and the staff helpful and friendly. We will be back.
Delicious food and awesome view to sea!! Recommend to everyone.
An excellent venue over looking the sea. Food is always spot on and never disappoints us. Wine a good price, food reasonably priced with lots of variety for all tastes.
This was our first time and it will not be our last.
Superb food, staff made it a special time and the view would beat any where.
My wife, my sister and I had lunch at the Lewinnick Lodge on Saturday. The weather was good, but there was a chilly wind so we decided to eat indoors. Without the wind we would surely have eaten outside to take maximum advantage of the stunning views of the North Cornwall coast. The food was excellent. My sister started with ribs and had crispy beef for her main. Both dishes were faultless. My wife had fishcakes. They were sized generously and their flavour was, to use her word: "delicious".
I started with salt and pepper squid. Both the squid and the aioli it came with were perfect. For my main, I had a rib-eye steak cooked blue. I've eaten steaks all over the world and the most difficult to cook is 'blue'. It is easy to overcook and equally easy to undercook with little effort made properly to sear the outside. The perfect blue steak needs to be cooked on a very hot griddle if it is to be blue in the centre, yet slightly caramelised on the outside. The Lewinnick scored a bull's eye. I've not had a better steak anywhere. We were too full for dessert - or so we thought until my wife and sister took a look at the menu and could not resist the sticky toffee pudding with ice cream - which they shared. Again, it was sensational. Properly sticky without being too heavy and stodgy. I shouldn't finish without mentioning the staff. So I've ticked that box. No, I haven't: they were efficient, polite and hard working. Who could ask for anything more?
All in all, this was one of the best meals, in one of the best restaurants with one of the best views we have enjoyed. I would recommend it to anybody. Unreservedly.
Food very nice but expensive for the amount you got. Staff and service very good and lovely location.
Fifth time here very good again.Service good and so is the food.Indian soup we had was excellent very tasty
Great place, seemed to be where the coolest folk in Newquay hang out
As always a pleasure . Food great ,took my wife for first time she was really impressed. Even better here when the weather is nice as it was on Sunday. It has to be one of our favourite places . Been here for breakfast, lunch and evening meal now
We've been several times to Lewinnick lodge and it never fails to impress
We had lunch on Sunday, l had the lamb roast it was absolutely delicious.
We will definitely visit again on our next trip to Newquay
Lovely setting on the outskirts of Newquay with fabulous views over the Atlantic. If you book early you may be lucky enough to get a table by the window. Or ther is plenty of seating outside if the weather is good. The food was good, not cheap but worth it for the ambiance. The menu is fairly limited but probably something on there to suit all tastes.
Visited Lewinnick Lodge with a group of friends one lunch time. We were looked after very well throughout and had delicious food. The view would have been fantastic if it hadn’t been misty. But I’ve been a few times before and when you get the view it’s outstanding. 10/10 place.
The food is always excellent, the staff are polite, friendly and efficient, the atmosphere is nice and there are wonderful coastal views, I thoroughly recommend it
Great location with amazing views, the food is good and staff are friendly and attentive. I often take my dogs a walk around the headland and than call in with them for a bite to eat.
The breakfast is delicious and I recently enjoyed an evening meal with a friend in the restaurant.
Excellent as always. Thanks for a lovely lunch. And the view of the Cribbar was great! First time I have seen it. Looking forward to lunches in the summer.
Recommended from the Plume of Feathers, their sister place, and it did not disappoint. Amazing location, stylish ambience, nice wine, charming staff, great food. What more do I need?!!
Excellent as always, friendly, great food and helpful staff!!
I know the Lewinnick Lodge from several years ago when I visited it often. I liked it very much then, and I like it now. The location is unbeatable, and the food offer is interesting and has lots of choice for special diets (i'm mostly veggie but will eat fish when I'm out).
I'd suggested it as a good place to meet to friends who live in St Austell. I'm in Redruth and they're adding it to a 'must return to' restaurant list.
But I thought the food was a little disappointing. I had Hake, which was a bit dry and served with a cold tomato salad. Perhaps just not to my taste, but it seemed a very odd combination. A couple of roast tomatoes would have been lovely but a great big pile of cold ones not so much.
The main issue though was the noise level from the music which was both loud and really intrusive with a bass line that made it impossible to speak to each other. Our very nice waitress (Alex) turned it down for us, but still, we felt something more melodic and background would have made our dining experience much more enjoyable.
We will be back - but perhaps for breakfast, or when the weather is balmy enough to sit outside away from the music.
Lovely meal at the Lodge-beautifully presented and quality was excellent. Service was the only thing that let it down but we tried not to let that spoil it. If you want gorgeous food and stunning views it is very recommended.
