The Liberty Tavern
What Insiders Are Saying
Liberty Tavern is Clarendon’s utility restaurant - use the American spot for dates, dinner with the parents, or a meal at the bar.
Fun place to go for brunch with friends. Server was great! It’s just a little crowded in the dining area with the tables so close together.
It was pouring rain when we were dining there and, at our first table, we were dripped on so had to change tables. Also, A/C wasn’t working well at original table, but we chalked it up to it being a 150 year old Historic Landmark building. Our server Henry was excellent. A big shoutout to him! He especially is knowledgeable about wine pairings. I picked the wrong dishes to order I guess. The grilled octopus appetizer was dry and tough though nice flavor. Then, I ordered the hanger steak rare and it was well done but I didn’t feel like wasting food and sending it back. Plus, the polenta it came with was good. I should have ordered the Mafalde pasta that my friend did. It was excellent! The brownie dessert was pretty good. Thanks so much Henry!! 👍😀
Great - we’re poor so we can’t afford this great food all the time, but good for a special treat. Pizza was excellent
Pork Chop special was exceedingly good! Server was very friendly and attentive.
Delicious brunch buffet. Enjoy coming with friends and family.
Get the crispy Brussel sprouts. The salmon or the lamb burgers!
Brunch was excellent! Good variety.
We visit Liberty Tavern often for wine and calamari and normally have an exceptional experience. This time, it took 5-10 minutes for our waitress to come to our table to take our drink order. We ordered calamari and there were only 7 pieces. Definitely not worth $8. Will give it another try but if this is the quality and quantity of Liberty Tavern, we might find another local bar/restaurant for visit.
Good variety of brunch foods and great music! We sat in the bar but good outdoor seating as well.
At $23.95 for an all you can eat buffet I think Liberty Tavern is way better than many that charge $30 and up.
The food choices and quality is way better than anywhere else I’ve eaten.
I would highly recommend this place to my friends.
From the moment I walked in I was treated like royalty. The food was excellent and abundant.
What an amazing lunch after attending our son's graduation. The food was yummy and not too expensive. Our waiter was the best. Great service. Can't wait to go back
Was visiting from out of town and my brother-in-law recommended the Liberty Tavern. It didn't disappoint! It was the perfect place to unwind after a day of sightseeing. We all had pizza, which was excellent! Service was also top notch. I love that when I ordered a glass of wine, the server brought the bottle over and did a small pour to make sure it was to my satisfaction. We enjoyed it so much that on the last day of our visit I asked to go back for lunch before our flight. Again, service was outstanding as was the food. I had the Classico Pizza again, but my husband and boys each had a different entree ... Fried Chicken Sandwich, Liberty Burger and Grilled Cheese. We also split 2 Calamari Fritto, another excellent choice. We will definitely visit The Liberty Tavern on our next visit.
Food was ok, but not great. Had to wait 25 mins for a table after our reservation time, but the service we received from Billy made up for it. I'd say the brunch buffet is nothing special, but the price is pretty good for the area on non-holiday weekends.
The unlimited brunch is a little pricey (especially because coffee/tea isn't included. We opted for a la cart options, which were great and more reasonable. Everything was delicious, except the coffee, which was bitter. Seemed like it had been sitting a while (and we went to breakfast right when it opened).
Our server, Kyle, did an exceptional job of making us feel welcome, was attentive to details, checked in frequently with updates on our entrees, provided great recommendations, and even made sure to brew us a fresh pot of coffee for after our luncheon. Food was also quite good, as usual. The wood-fired pizza was outstanding.
We Had the pasta, sandwich, pizza, and chicken; it was all good!!!
Cork in the wine and slow service
We had the Saturday brunch buffet and everyone enjoyed it. Well prepared food and beautifully displayed.
The quality of the food we received was below my expectations based on the reviews we had seen. The appetizer (lamb meatballs) was outstanding, however our entrees (pork chop and yellow fin tuna) were just ok, nothing special. Mike's America Grill has a similar menu but it delivers better food for a similar price.
Eddie our waiter was fantastic, very knowledgable and spot on with his recommendations. Also was wonderful with our some what picky daughter. Bravo
It was great!
This is an Arlington staple! They have good drinks and food!
Had friends in from out of town and our group of 6 went to Liberty Tavern. We were seated upstairs at a nice round table and were able to converse easily without battling a lot of noise. Two of us split a grains and greens salad and the maitake mushroom/kale pizza, others had hangar steak, roast chicken and chicken sausage/broccoli pasta. Very tasty, nice presentation, and a good wine selection.
I took 7 out of town colleagues here for dinner on a Sunday evening. They loved the food (it's always solid) and enjoyed the place. I had the salmon and it was nice and light - really amazing. Some of the others had the halibut and really enjoyed it. The only downside was that the server was not as attentive as I would have liked. Several of us would have liked to order wine with dinner (after having an initial cocktail when we arrived), and we had to track the waiter down in order to get the wine list.
This is our second time having brunch at the Liberty Tavern and we enjoyed it greatly. The food was delicious as always and the service was fantastic.
This was our second time dining here. We did brunch “all you can eat”. I really enjoyed it as I did the first time. Hubby liked it as well. Our waiter, Billy (I hope I’m spelling it right) was very attentive and had a great personality. The food choices are good. I really liked the Mac-n-cheese and French Toast! We will definitely come back again. Two thumbs up!
Great food. Our party of four all have very different meals which were unique and very tasty. Our waiter was sort of green, but the food made up for the average service. I'm sure he'll do fine as he gaims experience and confidence. We are looking forward to returning
Always a great experience and food. Our server was amazing too (Hannah P)
Excellent dining experience and service. Savored every bite of the yellowfin tuna. We'll be back soon.
Great place for late Brunch on Saturday in Clarendon. The food was ok but at a great price and the service was very good.
Took the wife and kids out for an early Mother's day. The food was incredible, service was perfect, and it was a really good value. We plan to eat there again soon.
Tables were a little too close together
Steak sandwich was literally a medium rare steak on bread. (I wasn't asked temperature.) I had to cut it into edible bites myself, and it was mediocre and cold after all that. The fried brussel sprouts were a highlight.
Fantastic food, and wonderful service. We went early so we had the place to ourselves for most of our meal. Towards the end it seemed like every table was full! It was a great place! Will definitely go back
Amazing selection of food provided. They have something for just about every diet. You definitely get your money's worth! Brunch is all you can eat for about $25.
Mimosas are not bottomless, but they aren't crazy expensive. $6 for regular and $8 for Bellinis.
Service is great. I'll definitely return here.
Were seated at a perfect table for an active 4-year old.
Liberty is such a neighborhood treasure. Locally owned and invested in neighborhood (they have 2 other local restaurants) shows in how they treat guests and prepare outstanding food.
Love the food and the service. Great attentive staff. Food was replenished and fresh for most of the items. My only problem was it $32 for brunch, but on website it says $24.
Great for brunch. Very friendly and attentive staff. Brunch bar was just right---not too huge, but had all the delicious essentials. Dessert bar was the only lackluster part of the meal, but otherwise, a good value for a delicious meal. Atmosphere was great!
