I came for lunch with a friend, food was good, excellent choice and no pressure to eat a lot at lunch time which was welcome. Good value for money and house wine was fine. I’m noise averse so difficult for me to comment but it was really no noisier than any popular venue. Service was excellent, friendly and not pushy, Greek coffee a bonus.
I booked this restaurant for a lunch with work colleagues to mark the end of the year. The staff were very friendly and accommodating but I was concerned that they appeared to have 'lost' our booking, despite the fact that it was booked and confirmed online with OpenTable. This would make me apprehensive about using this service to book again. The food was good but fairly basic Greek fare, with some choices unavailable and others not enough, so people had to chose again. My colleagues and I enjoyed the meal though. On the whole I would recommend the restaurant for ambience, it has character and is clean and friendly. I think I would need to go there for different times, for example, an evening to be able to comment fully on the services/menu offered.
Good quality 'foodie' authentic Greek cuisine, friendly service and nice/buzzy atmosphere...
Great appetizers and the braised beef main course was very tasty
A friend and I had a very tasty dinner here this week. The saganaki to start was well cooked, as were both our mains (risotto and the daily special - grilled octopus [so tender a knife was barely needed]with a nice fava bean puree). The server found the right balance between attentiveness and leaving us alone. There are lots of choices for vegetarians and gluten-free diners. Everything is made to order, so it's not the place to be if you are in a massive rush, but this is partly why the food is so good, I assume. I've been here several times and will be back.
We had a great dinner - food was lovely, wine was delicious (great suggestions by our waiter) and the service was very good. It was a great atmosphere for a get-together of friends.
Food was decent (as usual) but the service left a lot to be desired. The wrong food was brought out on one occasion (and then added to the bill even though no-one had ordered it). One item was unavailable which meant two of our party had to reorder. Another item (a very simple one) the "trilogy" was brought out after everyone else had been served.
We then had to send the bill back three times as it was incorrect.
Our waiters/waitresses were all very apologetic but it was overall a poor dining experience that spoilt a welcome lunch for a new member of our team. We have visited The Life Goddess a number of times for team lunches and never a had problem previously. Sadly, I don't think we'll be coming back in a hurry which is a real shame :-(
This restaurant is refreshingly and authentically informal with an inspired Greek menu that avoids the usual cliches while not trying too hard to be modern. Not everything works however and while some dishes were delightful some we're marred by being a little too savoury or a little too sweet.
I took two colleagues there for lunch. We all enjoyed the excellent food and service!
Great independent Greek deli and restaurant.
This was a casual working lunch, but a good job we reserved and got there early as the place was full by 1pm.
The food was excellent, with friendly service - perfect.
Outstanding food, shocking service. We arrived on a Sunday at 11am only to be told that reservations are not needed on weekends (no word on that on open table) and that there is no menu - the waiter would apparently inform us what was a available once the kitchen opened at noon. Even though we were the first customers that day, 3 groups arriving after us were greeted and given a menu at 12pm sharp. After asking our waiter twice (!) for the menu that did exist after all and being ignored until 12:20, we were about to make a move until we were suddenly tended to. Our experience took off as of that point. As a Greek I highly recommend the spinach pie and octopus - absolutely yummy. Given the appalling service we had that day I will never make another reservation though - just walk in and out for a quick bite with friends. Don’t ever bring a date or business partner to this place, service is WAY too informal and lazy.
Good food, served quickly.
Hard to attract waiters attention for coffee or to pay the bill.
Lamp with potatoes and agkinares = almost not meat in! Too oily and too many potatoes instead of meat. Bit disappointed.
Spanakorizo was amazing and great portion too!
Downstairs was really good for business meeting as upstairs its getting a bit TOO noisy. I will book again a table for December.
Terrific, great food and a delightful ambience. The only point that might be important for some occasions is that because it's so successful, this is quite a small and crowded space at the peak lunch times I've been here. It's crowded, and it buzzes! But not at all to the point where conversation is difficult.
Great atmosphere and wonderful friendly service and lovely food. A place to return to often.
Excellent food, friendly staff, good value, would recommend
Top quality ingredients, expertly prepared, without fuss or pretense. Very good service. Excellent wines.
A place we go regularly for lunch, sometimes for dinner, nice selection of Greek food and wine, good for value, highly recommended!
Excellent food in an area of town where eating can be mediocre and overpriced. For superior to the food served in London's traditional Greek restaurants.
However, be careful extensive wine-list contains some expensive bottles
Really good Mediterranean food that is authentic, healthy, clean and very tasty!
We were a large group of 12 people and it was very convenient sitting outside and being able to speak loudly and move around.
For me, it is the best restaurant in London, non-pretentious and with a mediterranean mood!
Great value, delicious food as always, with polite, prompt and professional table service
We normally like coming here but obviously a Sunday lunch is not the time to do so. Service was brusk and unfriendly, various dishes on the menu were not available and some of the food was not as good as usual.
Great service and wonderful ambience/ food and the excellence of the authentic Greek wines which are unbeatable! Thanks y’all !
The manager / owner -- is arrogant; the seats are uncomfortable; the tables are not comfortable (can't cross your legs); the food was fresh and tasty the first time I went, but not very fresh and not very good the second. Very disappointing. Will not go again and certainly not recommend.
3 of us went for lunch. Mezze starter was lovely and between us we tried the main chicken, lamb and pork. All 3 of us loved our dishes. Would definitely go again. Good service, nice ambience.
Extremely fresh and inventive Greek food without fuss or pretense. Friendly service. Very busy so reserve.
Thankful that there is a cozy quality restaurant open on Sunday night. Food is good and staffs are supportive to guide through food and wines
Music is nice but a bit loud so ask for window seats if you want to talk
Very nice food and place!
Had dinner here a couple of weeks ago and loved it. Such a rarity to find a relaxed, quiet place to eat on a Friday night in central London. The food was delicious and the service very good. I like eating in a deli with all the lovely olive oils and other products on the shelves behind me. The interior is very pleasant, with pretty fairy lights, and there are some outside tables (it's quiet road) but we chose to sit inside because the weather wasn't that warm. I will definitely be going back.
Lovely resturant the food was very good we had a lovely eve and will return
Great find for a taste of authentic Greek food in the midst of busy London. Warm and impecable service.
Early dinner with 6 friends. Great atmosphere with sparkling lights and candles. Food delicious especially hummus and pita. We all enjoyed our main courses, meat veggie & vegan! Allow plenty of time as service can be slow
This is a fantastic place, with great atmosphere, enthusiastic staff, great food and generous portions; I keep coming back!
A relaxed place with delicious Greek food. Nice atmosphere, chilled service...
excellent food as always and good selection of greek wines
Nice and cosy restaurant-shop, suitable for small groups and private dining, delicious food and nice wine
I study in UCL, very close to this place. I go there for lunch every day and it is always great! In the evenings they have very cozy dinners as well. Very authentic.
Amazing food and portion sizes as always. Really appreciate the little soup at the start. Expensive but it is value for money when you compare to other places around London. Waiter/ress was very nice put poor timing in their service as they would interrupt the conversation. Ambience and décor is amazing as always. Really recommend for business meals and special occasions.
We had an excellent time! Fun place to have lunch and lots of vegetarian options
I simply love the food there! And the deserts are to die for! Super recommended!
