The Lighterman Ratings and Reviews
Really enjoyed our dinner at the Lighterman. It was very busy ( which I can only assume is a good sign) and so we had to wait about 15mins for our pre-booked table. This was not a problem as the bar downstairs was vibrant and the drinks selection on offer was fantastic. Great location, great meal - will definitely recommend!
Granary Sqaure is such a lovely spot and the upstairs room over looks the fountains, the menu was lovely and although we didn't have drinks the wine was flowing at other tables and there was a good atmosphere in there even at lunch. I think upstairs is nicer than downstairs for special occasions.
Can't recommend this place highly enough. Visited this week with a business colleague and we got fantastic service with great food. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble and the service was attentive without being intrusive. Every morsel that crossed our lips was utterly delicious. If you have the opportunity (and 'space' after filling yourself on super-tasty starters and main courses), you must try the trifle. Best I've ever tasted and I've had plenty, being a trifle-loving kinda gal!
A big thank you to all who served me and my guest for lunch on Wednesday. I'll be back!
Very 'bubbly and lively atmosphere, we were welcomed immediately and shown to a great table overlooking the canal. Flat bread starters were yummy but sadly came out and were eaten before fellow diners starters arrived.
My swordfish was really good and the side of broccoli with chilli and parmesan was so different to the norm, we all enjoyed our food.
I never have a sweet but did this time! Roasted plums! Beyond nice!
Wine a bit pricey but house white went down well.
Definitely will return
Really lovely relaxed feel with canal-side views. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming; I originally booked for 6 people and we unexpectantly had 2 more people and a toddler arrive, the waitress didn't make a fuss and was happy to attach a table to ours to make it all work. They were also completely relaxed about me having my dog with me and I didn't feel on edge having her there with me. To top it all off, they overheard that it was my brother's birthday and they brought him out a piece of cake with a candle without any of us asking! We were totally blown away! 10 out 10 experience, will definitely return!
Overall, my father and I had a good experience dining here. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, I would honestly go back for the staff.
We both ordered the burgers, I found mine lovely, but slightly blander than expected, that being said I tend to not salt my food once it arrives so perhaps that would have helped. I would love to go back and try something else on the menu though, there was a wide selection to choose from. I would definitely dine there again.
I had the creamed spinach egg bake which made me stop, close my eyes, and savor. Perfect latte. Sweet waitress with great recommendations. A table for two by the window overlooking the canal on a misty weekday morning. So cozy. My husband loved the full English breakfast. Something he always enjoys, but he said this was a cut above.
