A really pleasant meal with charming attentive staff.
Menu had changed for festive period so was limited compared to last time we went which unfortunately didn’t realise, but food was good.
Service was excellent. However, the meal was very disappointing. The first course (smoked salmon ) was very small and as a traditional starter should have had brown bread or toast with it. We had to pay an additional cost for the sliced bread we had to ask for. The second course Cod loin) was very small and clearly not fresh. The chips were frozen chips and poorly cooked. Served with unadventurous portion of peas. Dessert was very ordinary and certainly not freshly prepared. The chicken main course was barely hot enough. We felt shortchanged and would not consider coming here again.
No problems 1st class in everthing great staff and good decor.
Superb food and fantastically friendly staff. Great atmosphere.
Have been a number of times and the food continues to be of a high standard and excellent value for money.
Attended as part of a celebration for a graduation at Lincoln Cathedral. Arrived slightly early and despite the restaurant being closed were shown to our table and ordered four cocktails. Having ordered, one of the starters was wrong but the waiting staff were excellent in dealing with it and without delay took the price of our most expensive cocktail off the bill, more than the price of the starter. The food was very well presented and cooked to perfection. The service and quality of food made my wife decide there and then this was where she would like to come for our anniversary meal.
We called the day before looking for a table for six at 6:30pm and we’re told they were fully booked. We therefore used opentable to make a reservation at 5:30pm.
When 6:30pm came the place was still half empty and when we left at 7:00pm there were still 64 empty covers so we couldn’t understand why we couldn’t have eaten at 6:30pm when we wanted to ?
There was a very large group of people but they were the only other booking. Very strange. It seemed as though they were content with half filling the place and didn’t want any more covers perhaps due to staff shortages. I wonder if we would have been turned away if we’d just walked in at 6:30pm even though there were plenty of empty covers ? As always the service and food was satisfactory and good value.
Good food, good wine, good surroundings. Very enjoyable.
great evening out with family (3 generations), fab food & service
Our go to restaurant for a special meal for two and also family get together. Never disappointed, food and service always consistently good
Easy to book , like the reminder sent. Service very good both at the bar and restaurant. Good choice of wines . Food tasty and colourful at a very reasonable price. Had a window seat in the restaurant, service very good and would recommend . We ate at lunchtime and had the two course lunch .
Friendly welcome and service. Starter fine though small. Main course good in parts only, and no side orders offered.
First class food and service - lots of friendly staff, food all beautifully presented and cooked, lovely candlelit atmosphere, we enjoyed everything we had. chose items from the menu that we wouldn't have at home, and were not disappointed.
I have visited the LINCOLN Grille in many occasions and the experience has always been good however on this occasion there was definitely something not quite right about the whole experience.
Unfortunately the waiting staff appeared to be unsupervised and on occasion not even visible. We were tendered to by several of the waiting team sadly not one of them appeared to be happy in their work and one could possibly have been described as surly. Whilst I appreciate that restaurants can’t get everything right all of the time this was far from being just a little wrong.
The food was in general terms OK but the potted Salmon was HEAVILY salted.
Let’s say we won’t be rushing back but I’m also not saying I won’t give it another try in the distant future .
A wonderful dinner and extremely reasonable. I loved everything about it. Jonny, who waited on us both nights, is a true asset to the hotel. His suggestions and service were bang on. Thank you for making both evenings so lovely.
Unfortunately my friend and I were very disappointed with our meals. My lamb was so tough I struggled to cut it, I had two very thin carrots and it was definitely not worth £18.95.
The room was so cold that it was difficult to relax, but on a positive note the staff were polite and friendly. Sadly I wouldn’t return as my meal was not enjoyable.
Food was all cooked perfectly, staff attentive and friendly but only when you needed them. They couldn't have been better, would definitely recommend.
2ND Visit to The Grill disappointed this time steak under cooked mackerel pate seemed to have the remnants of a crisp bread pkt thrown over it in an attempt to make it up market 2 starters 2 mains 1 beer 1 bottle of average wine £80.00 very disappointing came home and opened a bag of crisps
Food very good, restaurant not as expected, thought it would be more fine dining but turned out to be more cafe like. Staff very freindly food good.
3 courses for £16,seated next to window with wonderful people watching view, excellent food & service- perfect historic lincoln at its best. Thoroughly recommended.
It was a leisurely atmosphere in which to meet with a couple of friends. Will consider using it again.
Very good food, wine & location. Special thanks to Michelle for her friendly service and help.
The restaurant is in a good place everything about it is excellent
Good generous portions at a reasonable price with friend staff.
We availed ourselves of the 5 of Hearts menu which was excellent value. The only negative was that it was a very cold evening and we chose to sit by the window on to the pavement which was decidedly chilly. In hindsight we should have asked to move tables.
Would recommend. Good friendly service.
Food was a while coming but well worth the wait. Very reasonably priced for the standard on offer. Would definitely use again and would recommend to anybody.
Great spot near to Lincoln Cathedral. Food was excellent. Unfortunately my party voted against starters, in lieu of desserts, so I can not review them - what is wrong with people? The main course of 'Surf and Turf', scallops and Pork belly was fantastic - succulent! Dessert was great (although I was still smarting from no starter!) - apple pie - just the right size (not belly-busting). Giving me a chance to sample the very tasty Lincolnshire cheese board from my friend opposite. Definitely recommended if close to Lincoln.
Booked for my fellas birthday on Christmas Eve, was very nice food, laid out in the plate very artistically.
Excellent food, beautifully presented and very good portions
We went early evening and ate off the 5 of Harts menu which is a fixed price early evening menu of 2 or 3 courses. Good value for money. The food was enjoyable, and promptly served by friendly efficient staff. Would recommend.
Had a really nice lunch. The service was good and the food was spot on. There was a Xmas party in but our table was around the corner in a smaller quieter area, we would definitely go back again.
We were made very welcome despite being early for our booking.
Plenty of choices for all 3 courses.
Very helpful & friendly waiting staff.
Good set Sunday roast menu
A lovely meal in a nice setting. Service was a little slow but not bad. Good value for money to.
Good food, menu a little pedestrian, service charming but little slow and disorganised at lunch, which was a bit disappointing as we were there for a graduation lunch and the restaurant could have forecast the influx
A good restaurant with excellent food and superb service.
really good quality food ,cooked and presented well. large choice.best value in Lincoln. I would recommend. This is our second visit here and both times have been memorable.
Lovely meal, very good service, we enjoyed the meal very much
