The Little Owl
I think I would recommend the little owl as food & service was ok. But the price for what it was, was very very high. I wouldn’t say it was a high end restaurant, food ok, nothing really special special. But was charged nearly €500. We went to better restaurants and was charged a fraction of that price. Overall I would recommend but would warn them about the price.
Small wait but totally worth it. Friendly, quick service and a great atmosphere for a brunch vibe. Romantic as well.
This place is quintessential West Village adorable. The service was extremely friendly and attentive. I had the poached eggs (Benedict although a variation) and it was absolutely delicious. The coffee was superb. The only reason I knocked off a star was because the pancakes my son ordered were a bit dry, and that is a big deal for brunch. Otherwise, I would rate this place 4.5 stars. Still definitely worth a visit.
We had a wonderful experience here from the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm welcome. We sat near the door and everyone who walked in was greeted the same way. The server was exceptional and so was the food. We had a house made cavatelli appetizer special, salmon and halibut entrees with a side of Brussels sprout hash, and shared the beignets and apple cranberry crisp for dessert. The entire waitstaff worked so well in such a a small and cozy space, they made it seem effortless. We had a completely enjoyable experience, never felt rushed, and will certainly return!
Great food. Yummy drinks. Perfect fall atmosphere.
Always a great time! Love little owl!
I like this place a lot for its delicious food, service, and location.
I was slightly disappointed that i made reservations for 2 people for lunch - a day in advance - and also confirmed the reservation in the morning of the day the lunch was planned. When i arrived i was told i had to wait 10-15 minutes. After waiting, they still didn't have a table for us. They said it could be an additional 10-15 minutes, and our only option for immediate service was to sit at the bar.
We sat at the bar. Food was great. They seemed busy and like they felt bad there weren't able to accommodate further. Wasn't a big deal really, but probably wouldn't go there for business lunch again as it was a little chaotic given all of that.
Fantastic spot for lunch w/a friend.
Service was attentive but didn’t feel rushed.
Lively and intimate at the same time!
The meatball sliders were a little disappointing, too dry, needed more gravy (sauce). The pork chop and dessert were excellent. Overall, the food was solid, but a bit pricey for what was on offer. The noise was absurd. Way too loud and the music was cranked up to out do the noise leading to an unpleasant noise level, conversation was not possible.
It is so far my favorite place in NYC! The ambience is very home like, and the food is amazing! Recommend to book a table before arrival. It's tiny but nice! :D
Great food but pricey. If you have the dough, go for it.
Never had a bad meal. Great variety of menu options. Staff wonderful. Hard to believe they serve that much food out of the tiny kitchen!!
Perfect heirloom tomatoes, ripe peaches, dreamy ambience and outstanding service - love every part of Little Owl!
What an outstanding meal in such a charming part of the West Village. The brunch was one of the most memorable meals I've ever enjoyed. The staff was kind, attentive and all around great. Will definitely be back!
Excellent food and service!! A little noisy...
The little Owl is a hidden gem. I absolutely love the food and service is great. It’s quaint and I have never had a bad meal here ever ❤️
The food is good, but dang the portion size is very minimal! We went for brunch and each ordered a dish off the brunch menu... and left hungry! No joke.
The food came quickly which is nice. The restaurant is very small and the tables are jammed in next to each other which feels awkward. And lastly, the music was uncomfortably loud... to the point where we were shouting across the table to each other.
Great food, service, and location!
It could be a neighborhood gem but there are too many tables packed into such a small space. We had to move our small 2 person table several times throughout our meal to allow people sitting to the left and right to us to squeeze into/out of their seats. The hostess squeezed a large family of four into a corner table next to us and intentionally moved one of the chairs for a tall man so the back of his seat was literally up against our table. It was ridiculous. The food is good and the service is attentive but they are jamming people in there beyond anything I’ve experienced before so it’s not worth going back. There are a lot of other choices that give you breathing room so you can enjoy your meal.
Absolutely fantastic night!! Can’t wait to come back!! Food delicious. Staff attentive. Atmosphere- electric!!
Great place for breakfast meetings
Food was great, wine selection is limited and more on the pricey range.
Had the fillet (medium rare) and risotto both were great! Little pricey too.
Had to wait about 20-25 minutes to be seated but weather was nice and they served us a complimentary “cup” of proseco to make it up.
I made our reservation based on a search of restaurants within a 15 - 20 minute' walk from where we were staying at Union Square. The Little Owl popped up near the top of the list and the menu looked great, so I booked it. It was only afterwards that I discovered it was in the bottom of the "Friends" building - a nice little added bonus for our first night in New York. We were not disappointed - from the owner's initial warm welcome and complimentary prosecco while we waited briefly in the warm September evening, to the prompt, friendly and excellent service, great wine list and delicious, carefully prepared food, everything was perfect and made for an amazing introduction to the City That Never Sleeps!
Intimate space. Beautifully prepared food. A long time favorite in W Village that maintains its excellence.
Food was very good. However, brunch menu items did not come with any sides. Adding sides to your order cost almost as much as the entree.
Charming small restaurant with outstanding food and service. Highly recommend and would love to go back again.
excellent food in an intimate space. Love the light and airy environment with all the windows. Desert was insane, the cinnamon sugar beignets were perfect for sharing. Have been to The Clam their sister restaurant, preferred the Little Owl. I feel like it was a nicer experience overall from the food to the service.
As always excellent food and service
Loved the eggplant parmesan
Gets noisier than you would expect
I was meeting a friend for 11am brunch on a Saturday. My friend was running behind-so much that we weren’t ready for our table until 12, but the restaurant graciously seated us right away when we were both there. Food came out fast and was DELICIOUS. Some of it was a bit pricey, but that’s just the village. I’m surprised for a place this great, it’s not more packed (but let’s keep it a hidden gem :)
Very limited seating but great food and cocktails. We had burgers and fries .some if the best fries ever. Reasonably priced for the location. Will definitely go next time we are in NYC.
Whenever i am in NYC i make a point of having a meal at the Little Owl!! Have had a variety of the menu and have never been disappointed!!
AMAZING - Great food, ambiance, location, etc. Will definitely be back again
I realize this quaint little restaurant is in the fictional Friends space, but it really does have an ambience that you can see locals coming to hang out and just enjoy being together while dining over small bites, freshly squeezed juice, or coffee. We loved it! And the food was surprisingly delicious. I love this neighborhood, this place, this food... everything about it! We will return!
Very good food, service and ambiance, but loud. Poor acoustics
Fantastic meal. I had a delicious pork chop, my wife a beautiful piece of halibut... the service is as always wonderful.
Just a great neighborhood place with wonderful ambience, amazing creative food, excellent service. It was also fun watching the tours look at the 'Friends' apartment building.
Great little spot, the food/service was wonderful!
went there for anniversary. reservation was 7:30pm but 30min wait.
last time I was here was a decade ago so didn't remember who noisy there could be.
I hate to shout but had to communicate w my partner.
food is excellent yet was not very comfortable due to noise and elbow room space btwn tables
Had a lovely dinner after the theater. Food was excellent and service attentive. Small restaurant with many delicious options.
After many years of wishing that I could eat at the Little Owl, I finally got my wish and was not disappointed. The service, food and atmosphere was outstanding, and I had a great lunch. Thank you Eduardo.
