The Lord Kitchener
Lovely atmosphere no hurry the food was great. Mixed platters to start and share it thought just the right amount though some of our other party thought a few more nachos would be better. Pies amazing the only let down was the treacle sponge not good on the night. Was not charge for it so no complaints will definitely go back
Friendly with proper freshly cooked food not microwave stuff, will come back again
Excellent food and excellent service! Will definitely go back!
Presentation was very good. Food was excellant.Staff were friendly. Too much lighting but still an enjoyable evening
My first time to the Lord Kitchener and it lived up to expectations. Great food, great service, thank you.
Brilliant food, brilliant service, food delicious excellent in every way, definitely book again with out a doubt
The food was very enjoyable and the staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. I can especially recommend the Curbridge Mess as a splendid sweet.
Lovely old fashioned pub which has been very well modernised. Sunday lunch was well cooked and tasty with fresh produce. Service is excellent, particularly with the needs of young children. A relaxed atmosphere.
The service was extremely poor and our family waited for an hour and a quarter after ordering.
The cottage pie was tasteless and boring.
The service indifferent to say the least and the drinks expensive.
We booked a table for 9pm, to arrive and find out they only serve food up until 9pm??? Disappointing to find out the chef had left, had a fabulous meal at a modern restaurant... Beware you have to eat early here....
The food was really excellent. We shared a tex mex platter as a starter and this was really good. The large fish pie I had to follow was outstanding, one of the nicest fish pies I've ever had, packed full of fish and so tasty! I couldn't eat it all but was so good I had to take it with me! Which was no trouble to the attentive and professional waiter. Our other main was the pork duo, also amazing. Dessert was the Curbridge mess, again realllllly good!!! Generous portion sizes and great value. Will absolutely be going again!
We had a fantastic dining experience at The Lord Kitchener. The staff were attentive, enthusiastic and very welcoming. The food was delicious and we will definitely be calling in again!
Friendly staff and enjoyable food in a relaxed atmosphere
Staff were friendly but service extremely slow. We had to wait nearly an hour for our starter, which was the wrong dish the first time it was brought out after 50 minutes. Think service may have been slow because there was a big party in adjacent room (very noisy). However, if they cannot cope with extra diners such as us, they should not take a booking for them, as it spoilt our experience. Decor is a bit run down and the menu cards have seen better days. Food was reasonably good, though we couldn't finish our mains as the starter was so enormous (maybe they gave us a large starter to make up for the long delay?) Shame really because the place has the potential to be good.
Excellent service and food. We arrived in the midst of a very rowdy hen night meal, and the service we received was second to none. The menu was wide, and the choices we made were both very, very well cooked and extremely tasty. We will be going back very soon, as the daily specials looked extremely interesting!!
We had a lovely evening meal this week ,, the service,, staff ,, and food quality were,e excellent,, i would highly recommend Lord Kitchener at Curbridge oxon for special occasions ,,,
The food was freshly prepared and good quality, the scampi was particularly liked. However service was very slow as we sat down at our table at 7pm but our meal was not served until nearly 8.30pm.
Our waiter was very nice but there appeared to be insufficient staff for the number of diners in the pub
Very enjoyable family meal without having to have traditional Sunday lunch. A rowdy crowd of travelling people with go -carts arrived . Their children were hurling rocks from the stone wall.
The manager very kindly guided us out through a side door to avoid all this when it was time for us to leave.
Great value for money, staff very friendly and helpful.
Amazing meal for great price!super fast service and the portion sizes are great!very friendly staff and child friendly place.
Went here midweek for just a meal out. The service was very good from the start as it wasn't overly busy about 60% full. There was a midweek special on prosecco so my wife was happy straight away. We had a small starter between us to start and then I had a large fish pie to order and a lamb shank for my wife. Both were lovely but next time I will go for he small pie as i was so full I could hardly move. Unfortunately no sweets to comment on as we were so full, but a most enjoyable night out
Visited for Sunday lunch, great friendly service, food was delicious, large portions, couldn't fault anything. Will definitely visit again.
The food has always been excellent at the Lord Kitchener but the staff really make the difference. They are very engaging and well briefed on what each menu choice means, what the specials are and what beers/wines are available. This is a great place to take your friends and family.
My partner and I took our 6 year old here to eat here early on a Friday evening. The food was excellent and good value and the waiter service was superb . We booked on line only a couple of hours before we went which worked really well for us. We will definitely be back - thank you .
It was a friends birthday and we decided to go there for a change for lunch, I hadn't been there for years.
Although the restaurant was almost empty, (Wednesday 23rd March) we were greeted by a lovely guy and between him and another waiter/barman , the service was good humoured, fun and we had banter.
The food was piping hot and well presented ( one fish and chips, and two ciabatta's) There was plenty to eat, with fresh salad, coleslaw and huge HOT chips. The one fault was, I do like hot plates.
Wine at £4-50 for a Pinot Grigio was good value too. We will go again !
