The Maytime Inn
Whether you are looking for a quick drink, snack or three course meal we can accommodate your needs. Our food is freshly made by our award winning Head Chef using seasonal local produce. In winter you can eat by the wood fire in our rustic restaurant and in summer take advantage of our award winning garden and eat outside on the comfortable wooden furniture enjoying the views with one of our 140+ gins served from our outdoor bar.
Came here for roast lunch with my partner on a warm sunny day. Ambience outside was beautiful overlooking Cotswold hills, refurbished garden terrace with lovely plants. Food was very tasty, well presented and not too much portion wise. Service lacked attentiveness to its customers as staff seemed more focus on getting the drinks and food to the tables and the completion of their tasks. Had to eventually after 10/15 minutes of being seated flag down a waitress to take our order as we felt ignored by the waitresses passing us. After that the service was ok. But overall a good experience and would come back again but the service is in need of a brush up to be a perfect pub/restaurant for the Cotswolds
Another great meal - Sunday lunch with a choice of 5 meats on the menu and 2 vegetation options.
We had a lovely meal here, good service and a cosy atmosphere. Desserts were tasty but quite expensive in relation to portion size.
Our visit was off the back of a recommendation by a friend (wild board burger) already recommended to others ;0
Excellent food and service
A sunday night so restaurant was quiet. Party of two, one had fish and chips 3.5/5 other tuna 4/5 was tasty but limited, plenty of fish but not enough veg and sauce..
This not our first visit and we will definitely return in the near future.
The food choices were great.
The service great.
The garden provided a wonderful backdrop to our table.
Thank you so much!
Have dined here a number of times. The food, ambience and service have always been faultless. In addition, the pub is in an idyllic setting with beautiful walks to salve one's conscience after over indulgence!
A very pleasant experience on a very hot day. Hadn’t been for Sunday lunch before and it didn’t disappoint.
I’d recommend thanks to the garden but this was my fifth visit and it was poor.
Great food ! Lovely interior and a fab garden for outside dining !
Wonderful setting, great food, good service. Will come back again and again!!
We often eat here and are never disappointed. Dogs welcome too!
Very good service and food. Excellent wine list too.
Lovely meal in a superb environment, the staff were also so friendly.
The food was great..however half the menu had run out by the time we got there at 1:30pm, one of our mains wasn’t cooked properly (fish) and by the time a new main had been sent out, The rest of the table had finished. Service was ok, apologetic but a little slow. I had been recommended this pub by a friend who said it was great, so maybe a bad day...having said that, I wouldn’t go back.
We have eaten here before and have always been very pleased, however on this occasion we had booked through open table, thinking that having booked we would be directed to the restaurant. When we arrived we were told that the only table available was in the bar area, when asked if we could dine in the restaurant, we were told there was nothing available! However a couple who had not booked were shown into the restaurant, during our meal which I must add was lovely a number of tables remained empty in the restaurant which I found disappointing hence only giving this visit 3 stars.
Have been twice now to the May time and would certainly go again. It was lovely sitting outside and being able to appreciate the lovely countryside
Have been to The Maytime Inn a number of times and every one has been a delight. The ambiance, food and people are all great. Will be returning soon
We had a very enjoyable Sunday lunch with friends. The food and service were excellent
Amazing Sunday Lunch, roast was really nice ... Recommended
Excellent Sunday lunch. Roast beef was absolutely outstanding! And the treacle tart ice cream...amazing
The Maytime is a lovely Pub - just what you would expect from a Cotswold pub in a picture perfect village. The staff are friendly rather than stuffy and help to create a laid back vibe. The surroundings are ‘country life’ with a slightly rustic feel. Feed is good with a menu that suits a variety of tastes. The Maytime garden is a joy in fine weather. Beautiful views and lovely plants. The care of the garden makes it a charming place to be. It a favourite place for me to take guests or indeed hold small work meetings. As a result have been 3 tines in the lay month. Just one point to watch for. On sunny days kitchen can get a bit overwhelmed. Boom ahead to ensure care and attention.
Could have had a few more beers on tap.
Lovely pub and location was great with beautiful countryside.
Sandwiches were of a high standard.
A great elevated pub menu with a great eye for details.
A selection of gins 140 strong plus over a dozen types of tonic water. Does this make the maytime inn the most British place on earth?
Where else could you dine al fresco with views immediately over the open Cotswold meadows, with excellent food and some very fine wine. This is a lovely place, and you are looked after by friendly but professional staff. A delight.
Our first visit to The Maytime Inn but hopefully not our last.
The food was good and the service excellent. The one negative was that one of our party did not enjoy his meal but I cannot honestly say that the choice of meal was right for him so I would not to like to judge the food by his choice.
My husband and I are looking forward to visiting again.
We have been to the Maytime before and we love the ambiance and effort that staff put into the experience, not to mention the gin selection that they have. However, we were disappointed when two of our party’s dishes came out very cold and needed to be sent back. Gratefully, the server returned it and came back with a hot dish (reheated) but by that time, everyone else was close to finishing eating.
We were then disappointed that no compensation was offered, not even a mention of having one of our drinks on the house. We paid our bill and did mention it to the server, if only to point it out so future patrons experiencing this might be better compensated.
I had lunch a week ago Friday which was lovely, I then bought a friend Wednesday night. We sat in the garden and waited 40mins for the waitress to come and get our drinks and food order. Table booked at 7.30 but food didn't come till 9, food was very nice. We both had Eton mess which was fruit and cream and literally tiny meringue crumbs, tasty but poor for the cost. I know your waitresses ella and lily and would only come back when they are serving, I think ella kindly gave feedback and we have been offered free drinks on next visit, which is appreciated. It's a beautiful pub, lovely menu and the lunch I had the week before was really lovely but it shows to me how important the service is and it really was poor on Wednesday. Certainly if I didn't know ella I am not sure I would come back. Thanks Emma
Fantastic food and service beautiful setting
We sat outside
We enjoyed our first Sunday lunch last weekend. All of our group enjoyed the 2 and 3 courses from the Sunday lunch menu. We were particularly lucky though as the restaurant was much quieter than is apparently normal for a Sunday so service was very quick and it was nice and quiet. We would be happy to return.
Arrived at the Maytime on a beautiful summers evening. Picturesque pub in a lovely village. The pub has a spacious interior and very large and gorgeous beer garden.
If you like gin there are over 100 gins to choose from togther with a good range of tonics. We ate at the Maytime and really enjoyed the food with a menu which is more interesting than most. We went on a Saturday evening and it didn't seem to be over busy so we had a very relaxed time. Probably more people in the garden than the pub due to the good weather. Would definitely recommend. They also have accomodation so would be a great place for a weekend stay in the Cotswolds.
Everyone ate what they chose with relish but it was a little disappointing that neither the waiter nor the chef could specify where the meat had come from (before arriving at the local butcher's). For those not wishing to eat either meat or fish without greater certainty as to their provenance, there were two vegan options which is better than many places. Service was friendly but a little haphazard. We enjoyed our meal.
Very nice inn with a lovely garden and outdoor eating area. Rain prevented us from eating outside.
The food was pretty good except for the ham and eggs. The ham was tough and the eggs were overdone.
But generally it was a good experience.
We eat out every Sunday, so are pretty critical.
This is a lovely village and on arrival we were pleasantly surprised.
Unfortunately, we were then left standing at the bar waiting to be acknowledged. Not even a cusary welcome. This seemed to include the management team.
Eventually we were shown to a table, which was fine. Then a long wait for a drink. In the end we placed the drinks order and food order at the same time.
Only one Prawn started available, but that was lucky as it was poor. Served with stale/dry thick white bread not Melba Toast as advertised. The Pork meatballs were fine.
The main course rescued the day. The beef was excellent, as were the roast potatoes. a limited portion of vegetables was however a bit disappointing.
Service had picked up at this stage. Fish pie was good too, though no sign of the advertised Scallops.
Chocolate tart for pudding was great.
This could have been great and would have become a regular destination, but something isn't quite right.
Loved it, will definitely be back 👌 food was lovely, great staff, lovely restaurant and garden, perfect for the summer evenings and cosy in the Winter months in the bar/restaurant.
Fantastic food and beautiful location. Service was slow but friendly staff
Lovely location and gardens. Food was excellent and staff friendly and attentive.
We had brought out children along and although the food was really nice I would love to see a children’s menu.
Generally very good. It was Father’s Day so it was busy when we arrived but we were at our table in no time and the staff were cheerful and couldn’t do enough to help - nothing was a problem and all done in good humour and with a smile. Excellent. A new favourite.
