Traditional Sunday Lunch is a fantastic family experience with a lively atmosphere .
To accompany your meal the bar has an exciting range of spirits, some great local cask ales and exceptional wines including a large selection by the glass. Barista coffees and whole leaf teas finish your meal in style.
Beautiful setting with great food, service was a little slow despite it not being busy but id definitely want to go back
Excellent as usual, lovely friendly efficient staff, especially the barman in the pub part with dark hair & glasses 5*
Outstanding food, especially the vegetarian roast (aubergine, lentils and hazelnuts). Brownies also outstanding. Friendly smiley staff. Only the roast potatoes (dry and hard) were disappointing.
The service was great and the staff friendly and welcoming, such a nice change to see. My friends loved the decor and ambience. We were impressed with the meal particularly the roast dinner. Slightly diappointed with the desserts, the treacle pudding didn't really taste of treacle, more like chocolate sponge with treacle sauce. But loved the retro baked Alaska with the fruity twist.
Thanks for reviewing, we're so pleased you enjoyed your visit and hope to see you again soon.
Quick and friendly service. Food good really liked the different types of vegetables . Only downside was the Yorkshire puddings were very big which made them taste of cardboard, also a little more gravy would of been nice.
Amazing Sunday roast - great veg option and huge portion size
Sunday roast. Food wasn’t very warm, potatoes not very crispy, generous portions. Tables a bit cramped and close together, noisy.
We took an elderly couple for lunch. It was his birthday. She is very deaf and very fussy. We sat in the restaurant at a window seat so it was light The noise level was low, the service was relaxed but very efficient.
We all enjoyed it!
I like the Met lot. !!! It’s asked me to write 50 characters so have added a few more.
The food was excellent, our server was very pleasant and helpful
The bar service was slower than I would have liked but the food and service was excellent.
Splendid Sunday lunch with lots of veg and massive Yorkshire puds.
Great food, the staff couldn’t have been more helpful it was a lovely evening
Great Sunday lunch and good value for the quality. The only reason I didn’t give the food five stars is the food was warm and not hot.
Great food as always. The service was excellent despite how busy it was.
Nice relaxed atmosphere. Excellent service from staff. Very attentive
Always a treat to visit the Metropolitan- never fails to impress.
Nice tasty food and staff were really pleasant. Went for a Sunday roast which me and my partner both enjoyed.
We were seated in the main bar area, it was draughty due to 2 main doors being left ajar. I was cold and feared that I would get a stiff neck. The table and chairs were not conducive to comfortable eating, as the arms on the chair prevented being able to get close enough, without sitting on the edge of your seat. Both of these factors detract from the value for money aspect. The vegetables were the best feature of our meal, absolutely excellent., the meat less so, my poussin was dry and difficult to eat (see above), my partners beef was good, but a small serving compared to similar establishments and prices. I would return but I would need to be seated in the restaurant area.
Very impressive Sunday roast. Generous portions, everything tasted home-made and fresh, and perfectly cooked. Since the sad closure of the Parlour in Chorlton, this is the best pub roast I’ve had in Manchester.
Very nice place and friendly staff. Never felt rushed was very pleasant. Would book for another time.
Lovely food, we enjoyed a lovely afternoon, not rushed
Love the ambiance and food is good. Staff need some training, slamming plates and glasses down on tables!
Food, service and atmosphere are all perfect. Love it here.
Enjoyed our meals.
Service polite and prompt
An enjoyable experidnce
The sausage and mash was terrible - it was swimming in gravy & I didn't feel the sausages were butchers standard which I'd expect for £12. The baked Camembert was nice - but an ungenerous portion of toast accompanied it. Also at a £12 cost - it was ridiculously marked up - for a tub of cheese (retails around £2/3) and 6 pieces of toast.
I told the waiter about the issue with the gravy & we had one of our two deserts taken off the bill - which was a nice gesture - but I felt so unwell after my main I didn't eat a desert so felt like I hadn't really had any compensation. The service was nice, but it's after feeling unwell all night it's not a dining experience I'll be returning to.
Great food and service. Bar staff also very knowledgable and friendly great birthday meal .
Great food, great service & a lovely relaxing atmosphere.
The staff were very helpful and polite. The food was excellent and the wine very reasonable
Have eaten here a couple of times.. Sunday roasts are always excellent however the last two times I have been had problems with over cooked meat. This visit I ordered the duck dish and it was extremely over cooked. Duck should be cooked pink which I requested but it had either been cooked too long or left sitting under the lamps on the pass. The baby leeks it came with were almost raw. As we were a group of 7 I didn’t bother asking them to redo it as catching up with friends was more important. I will say - this happened before and I asked for it to be done again and the chef came out and was really rude about doing that. Service is a bit slow getting drinks but we found the serving staff to be pleasant and helpful - it’s the kitchen where the problems are - it was not busy so no excuse really. Mistakes on bill with items added which we did not order. The other dishes people ate - Caesar salad and fish and chips were excellent. Salmon with new potatoes was dry (again probably from being left on the pass too long). The food here would be excellent with just a bit more care from the kitchen. I recommend the Sunday roast but possibly not the weekday menu unless it’s something plain like a sandwich or burger that’s hard to get wrong.
Excellent service. Nothing too much trouble for the waitress. Saturday night ,so quite noisy.
Party of 5 and 2 guests did not enjoy their food. Roasted peppers very very disappointing and the Tofu dish dry and tasteless. Ingredients listed on the menu made the dishes sound really appetising but not so.
We did raise the issue with the waitress and appropriate action was taken.
Stick with the sausages or salmon.
Fantastic as always! Food and staff were great, quick service and friendly welcome.
Sadly seems to have gone down hill a bit. Regular customers but recently has two under par meals here.
At one point the quality of the food was assured not so much now. Starters were ok but the main coursers lacked taste, my husbands fish dish has an odd aftertaste and my lamb was bland.
We care the next day with other family Ana’s the chips had to be sent back again because they were dry and cold.
Shame as it’s a great place usually...
Sunday lunch was better when vegetables and sauces where served in separate bowls. Now all heaped together . Some do NOT like and will not eat veg soaked/flooded in apple sauce. baby chicken did not taste of rosemary s described. Service top class.
Amazing food, probably the best Sunday Roast I had! Lovely place too!
On Saturday night the venue was very noisy and busy, but the staff were friendly and efficient and the food was good.
We had the Sunday roast - it was poor quality meat
