Beautiful renovated Georgian town house. A little noisy as all hard surfaces but beautiful. Busy so atmosphere is good. Service was with a huge smile and so attentive. I dropped my knife at one point and it was replaced instantly! Food was delicious and prices a little high but worth every penny. Very full. Very satisfied.
Amazing and fun selection of food, great location and lovely staff! Highly recommend.
Food was excellent. The waiter misheard/wrongly entered several parts of our order so we had delays as these were corrected. Very helpful in sorting things out though and gave us a free drink to compensate.
The service was really great, the waitress anticipated any delays and communicated so well with us. The food was good. The setting was really perfect for a friends brunch get together
We had a delicious dinner, but the service was sub-par. Our server was often occupied in conversation with Co-workers, and just absent part of the time. We felt ignored.
Really lovely food and good selection of veggie and vegan options. Staff were a little brisk and abrupt, plus distracted by the party upstairs (often seemed to be gossiping?) . Price fair for a special occasion meal
We had some good food but our experience was slightly spoiled as ours was the last sitting before the restaurant shut early for a staff event - something we were not told about when booking. We felt a bit under pressure to finish and leave before we were ready to go
We have been to the Modern Pantry on previous occasions over the last couple of years and normally enjoyed it, however our most recent visit was poor.
The food was to a good standard, inkeeping with previous experiences. However the service was dreadful and ruined the experience for us. The restaurant was only half full during the time we were there. Despite booking, it took 10 minutes for our table to be set up. Our drink order was taken but took well over 10 minutes for 4 drinks to be served. At the end of the meal we asked for the bill but after 15 minutes of waiting and our waitress disappearing we needed to ask yet another member of staff. I would expect slow service if they were at full capacity however this was not the case and there were several members of staff stood around chatting.
The venue itself seems to have become more dated and tatty, with the table we were seated at covered in vast coffee stains and ring marks.
We have had brunch before, which is always great. As we visited on a weekday we had breakfast, the choices and combinations were fantastic .
Disappointing visit. On arrival we were told food would take longer as they had big party in. All tables were reserved so they knew they had big table in! Bill was incorrect with price of drinks and no apologies for waiting times, incorrect bill. Sad as I have always loved this restaurant but their standards have slipped.
Excellent meal. Very pleasant and cheerful service. And a fair wine list. I will go again.
We had a lovely Sunday Brunch at the Modern Pantry. Particularly recommend the Brunch special. My frst time trying chia seeds in the starter and was pleasantly surprised.
The combination of chorizo and plantain in the main was original and a delight on the palate.
Friendly staff and quick service. Good coffee.
Lovely breakfast, excellent food. Staff were very welcoming. We will be back for sure. Only thing is we sat near the front door and it was a little squished would have been nice to sit up stairs, will request that next time.
We went there for hen do brunch and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful!
Sorry to say we had a terrible experience with one of the waitresses. She was so inexperienced and simply did not understand basic things we were asking for like, what does this main come with and can we the have wine list. I feel like it was her first day or something but really could not believe how bad she was. We finished our starters and she asked if we wanted desserts before the means arrived! the rest of the staff were great and thank god kind of took over our table. But I am afraid it ruined our meal a little bit as we felt like nothing we ordered would really turn up (even though it did somehow) Feel like it is very unusual for your restaurant as we have never had that problem before and feel everything else is a really high standard. the food was lovey though!
I went to the Modern Pantry with my partner on a Sunday evening. There were hardly any other people there and as the weather was so warm, we were lucky enough to eat outside in their small terrace. The service was laid back and friendly. The food was exceptionally good and very inventive. The wine list has a good selection of interesting wines and we were offered taters before ordering a bottle if the wine was sold by the glass. We each had a glass of Laurent Perrier Rosé to start, which was excellent buy highly priced at £17.50 each. Overall, our own experience was good and we would thoroughly recommend the restaurant for food and its quiet and interesting location.
Very delicious. Prompt service and genuine care. Can't get over the ricotta pancakes.. i'll be back soon!!
Fantastic, seasonal afternoon tea in a beautiful setting.
Great restaurant with a creative brunch menu . Would definitely go back!
Best breakfast I've ever had and it was only scrambled egg on toast (with bacon, mushroom and tomatoes). Service was great, the restaurant was extremely clean (including the toilets).
Great atmosphere. The modern pantry has a really good menu. The flavour combinations of each plate we tried were excellent. The meals are presented in a creative way, the service isnt careless at all - overall a great experience.
The food was really, really good. Exotic combinations of flavours. We shared four small dishes all served at the same time: scotch quail eggs, salmon ceviche, vension and a salad. The were all great. Then the deserts were lovely. My favourite was the rose, peach and sweet peppercorn sorbet. The location was perfect. We sat outside on St Johns Square in the evening. It was warm and peaceful and we could watch the bees on the lavender.
I went for brunch with three friends. Everything from reservation, to the courtesy call a day before to confirm the reservation, the welcome, attentive service and great food was wonderful.
We dined early pre theatre on a Saturday so not many people there at 6 pm .The staff excelled in getting the FT/Laurent Perrier menu to us in our tight schedule. V creative and enjoyable food.I was not however impressed when we arrived at the restaurant to be shown to a table right behind the door-WHY ? We chose a slightly more comfortable table and then enjoyed ourselves.
Service was terrible and food wasn’t usual good standard (eggs half uncooked, spinach soggy and over cooked...), but waiting staff were too preoccupied to speak to about it
Great food and service. Loved the prawn omelette with sambal. Mainly ordered the small plates, some were a good size for sharing, some were a bit too small, like the aubergine dish and squid ink rice, I’ve had bigger portions in other restaurants for a similar price. The squid rice was also too salty. Even though the lunch we had was quiet, the service was a bit slow in the beginning. We waited for a while for someone to give us the menu and take our order. Overall I’d recommend this place. It’s my favourite place in Clerkenwell.
Wonderful relaxed vibe outside but formal and elegant inside. The food is superb and everything was delicious. Highly recommend
Great attentive but not 'in your face all the time' service :)
Lovely food and ambience!
It was really pleasant, very welcoming and friendly staff and the food prepared to a perfection. I am so pleased to see it thus it went through a bad patch some months ago but has clearly regained the old perfect and friendliness we associate with the modern pantry.
Nice restaurant, food is nice. Staffs are very busy there so the waiting time is a little bit too long.
Met up with a friend for a Saturday brunch and really enjoyed our time. The place was super busy, and they gave us a table upstairs with a bit more space and not as noisy. The menu is my favourite part about Modern Pantry. So many great combinations and an impressive brunch menu. I will return to try something new the next time.
Delicious. I wanted every single thing on the menu. One of the nicest meals I’ve had in a long time and staff were so attentive
Really excellent food. A bit of a mix up with table but sorted out quickly.
Had brunch, starter arrived with main, very apologetic. Forgiven as food was so good.
Food was tasty and flawless presented. But wine was poured in a glass with dust in it. The service was uneven and it totally lost track when the restaurant got busy. Ambiance was terrible. Very noisy. I felt like I was in a pub. Overall, this is not an experience I would like to repeat
A relaxed outdoor brunch with good food and friendly service.
Had heard good things about place and menu looked interesting for brunch. Lovely looking restaurant but we were upstairs in room with mostly empty tables (despite tables empty downstairs) and view of cleaning products. Hoped good would compensate, eggs with bacon and mushrooms nice but not exceptional. Pancakes sounded great but seriously average with barely a spoonful of compote, making it overall bland. Bellini was ok. Not in hurry to return.
The location is great, airy and was on our list for a while to go and try out. Went there for brunch and was not disappointed. I had the pulled lamb on English muffins with poached eggs. Was tasty, albeit slightly more salty than it should've been. Also had the passion fruit smoothie which was excellent and very refreshing! Service a tad on the slower side - but hey, we went there for a leisurely brunch so no real complaints.
Good food and a nice atmosphere for a sunny day. The service was very slow though, considering it was a small restaurant and there were at least 4 or 5 waiters / waitresses who were all a little inattentive.
Had breakfast at the The Modern Pantry. Lovely place, great breakfast, nice staff.
A charming experience. Will return for lunch or dinner next time I´m in London.
