A great place for brunch on a Saturday morning; very tasty food.
Could hear grumpy chef berating staff in kitchen as v small space, packed like sardines. Awkward.
Unique flavours and great service! They were really understanding and accommodating of us being late.
Lots of delicious flavours but a rather over salted. Also undercooked pink fir potatoes. Delicious drinks
absolutely spot on! Must try the prawn omlette.
Dinner. A pricey option for a special occasion. Inventive fusion cooking and a super wine list. Seafood and fish heavy compared to some. Seating downstairs (our location) is communal and close; upstairs felt more rarefied.
Good service and wholesome, healthy food. My salad was delicious and just the right amount. The service was attentive and courteous. I have booked the Pantry twice in the last week for business lunches and it is an ideal venue. In and out in an hour after a nutritious, tasty meal.
Great fresh and varied food in a relaxed environment
A) the food took well over 30 mins to arrive, making it a rush to eat.
B) when it arrived the eggs were not hard boiled as requested. Once broken they were inedible.
C) I cannot fathom how a restaurant that has its first sitting at 8am opens on the dot at 8am with customers outside in the freezing cold.
Will be the last time we eat there, and we have been for about 6 months on a weekly basis.
Really nice brunch at this lovely neighbourhood restaurant. Could do with a few less complex ingredients and maybe a few more brunch type recipes but good service and great coffee.
Great food, great ambience and fantastic service it was my birthday and The Modern Pantry did not disappoint - will definitely be booking again - thank you for a great dinner!
Amazing place but complicated food menu...
The restaurant itself is lovely and the service is great. But the menu is too complex and expect something different arriving on the plate..
It was a nice lunch in Modern Pantry. Didn’t know they offer great set lunch menu in weekdays. £20 for 2 course with a glass of wine. Food quality and atmosphere are amazing. Would definitely go back
Really delicious food. Helpful staff to advise us re the menu
We had delicious food with fabulous service. It was quiet because it was early but we still had a great time!
Outstanding location, service and food.
Spent a beautiful sunny Saturday brunching with a friend and loved it. Lots of light in the dining room, and nice relaxing atmosphere. Only slightly negative comment is the prices but I guess they’re in line with what you’d get in most places in the area!
Will definitely recommend and come again!
The food, drinks and service were all excellent especially for the value. We had a nice table by the window with a lot of light. No loud music which is nice for a quiet family brunch.
Fantastic breakfast. Friendly, helpful staff, happy to provide a simplified dish for my young daughter. Beautiful interior, with clean, modern decor.
Excellent food and can't fault the service. Always a favourite and the partner has been converted and its a big fan also!
Love this place but somewhat unfortunately this week they had a large and noisy party on their long middle table.
Friendly service, interesting food. Ask for a table upstairs for the quietest lunches.
Really tasty menu and lots of choices including vegetarian and vegan options. Great vibe and lively crowd.
I would recommend it for the atmosphere and service but not for the food.
First time here for ages but, as usual, it was terrific. Best neighbourhood restaurant by a mile.
A great venue with outstanding seasonnabl produce and awesome attentive service.
The space especially the ground floor are however becoming a little too loud and forces you to half shout when trying to make conversation.
Great food and atmosphere. Will be back soon!
I came back to the Modern Pantry after visiting for the first time about ten years ago. My first impression was excellent and this other meal confirmed it. Relaxed, laid back restaurant with outstanding food. Hope to be back without waiting another ten years!
We booked after reading Giles Coren's review.
Quite outstanding the food delighted our wide range of guests.
Had a drink in the Zetter beforehand - will not make that mistake again!
Thank you for a great evening with superb food and delightful service
I booked a reservation for afternoon tea because my friend who was visiting wasn't picky with what he wanted to see or do except that he wanted to experience afternoon tea. I researched good afternoon tea place and found Modern Pantry. When we got to Modern Pantry, we were told we were only allowed to do afternoon tea with a reservation, of which I told them we had one. After waiting about 10-15 minutes they told us, that they did not do afternoon teas anymore. It would have been nice to get some sort of notification about that considering I booked a reservation for the sole purpose of afternoon tea. We ended up having some tea and some small plates, but the service was pretty slow and not very accomodating, so I will not be returning.
The set brunch menu is really good value and delicious. It's noisy though, to an uncomfortable level- even upstairs where the tables are spaced further apart. Some soft furnishings would help absorb the echo and make for a calmer dining experience. Shame as the food and service is excellent.
Still an excellent place to meet for brunch/lunch or just a coffee
It seems odd that a restaurant opens at the exact time of the first booking, makes for a cold experience if your a touch early, puts me off booking as 8am is the time I need.
Delicious food and drinks, everyone enjoyed their meal. Mains are quite expensive considering no sides come with them.
From initial days I have been a confirmed fan of TMP. But in my more recent experience the quality of cooking has been going down. On this occasion the main courses were very good. But the starter prawn omelettes were over-done. And vegetable side-orders were in texture both very tired and far too complicated. The favoursome mains cried out for simple sides to compliment and not rival/taste confuse.
On the strength of this meal regrettably I would not recommend.
Our Sunday Breakfast was truly relaxing and very delicious.
A real lovely venue with unusual, imaginative and delicious food
Unfortunately we were the only ones in so it felt a bit soul less - was better when we were joined by another table . Shame because the food was nice and it had a festive feel about it . We’d been to saddlers wells theatre and it was a 20 minute walk . Would happily go there again - but would check it was a bit busier as feel a bit conspicuous when eating as a table of 4 .
Really tasty food, and such a great menu. We visited on a Sunday at 1pm so it was pretty quiet.
Very charming place with a varied menu. I would definitely return
Great food, reasonable price
Would recommend for any occasion
