We were in London for a short trip, and heard about Modern Pantry from a colleague at work. We tried several different dishes, including appetizers, but nothing was to our liking. The food overall was unimpressive, and I don’t think I’d return.
We went for mother’s day brunch and were sat upstairs which ha last a nice feel to it. It’s like your inside someone’s lounge so you instantly feel relaxed.
Food was lovely and fresh and the service was really relaxed but attentive.
a very interesting menu with some unusual ingredients. All came together well and was well executed. All of the party enjoyed the meal
Fantastic food at very reasonable prices. The onglet steak was excellent
Such good brunch! Definitely recommend going here for great food and pretty vibes
My favourite place for a special brunch with family and friends. Lovely food and great service!
it was a quiet night at the Open Pantry, perfect time for a meal to catch up with a friend. Great service, intertesting menu and attentive service with plenty of vegan/vegetarian and gluten free options. Chef altered the dressing on the salad for my coeliac afflicted companion. Carafe of the house white was excellent, pork perfectly cooked, everything pretty much perfect.
I enjoyed my meal - I tried both the sugar prawn omelette and the portobello mushrooms. They were simple dishes but tasty enough. Not particularly outstanding in anyway but can't complain. My friend ordered the corn bread & chorizo which was quite dissapointing. The cornbread was incredibly dry. The service was also quite poor - we had to call the waitress over each step of the way, our coffees all came out quite cold, and then our cups were all cleared away before we finished drinking water or had been even provided with the bill. Overall, my meal was nice but wouldn't return.
The modern pantry has a fresh and seasonal menu with food that is always beautifully presented and tastes amazing!
The food was ok, but not great. I had the Cornish fish and it was a bit of an odd assortment of flavours on the plate. Small portion for the price, too. Service was attentive and friendly and the cocktails nice.
Not my favourite experience this time around as the meal was too fatty. Still love the ambience and service however
Great food and good service. Would highly recommend.
Excellent business lunch. Very light, ambience great and the food was outstanding!!!
We really like the modern pantry, afternoon tea is lovely, imaginative, we added a Bellini each, and that pushes up the bill but hey, it was a birthday.
Cheese scones were gorgeous, lemon curd sublime, and for a Saturday afternoon it was surprisingly empty.
My only gripes are the cake was totally underwhelming, and the music playlist was weird and too loud.
Left after 10 min because it was extremely loud. Do not go on a Saturday
Service was very relaxed , and a bit slow at times considering it wasn’t too busy
No candles on tables/ music etc so ambience was a bit flat
Gorgeous food and drink selections, lovely atmosphere. Just a lovely place for brunch.
As usual an excellent culinary experience with very helpful and friendly service
The place looks and feels lovely. However, the food lacked seasoning and the service was slow. We never received a couple of the dishes we ordered, and no one offered us a menu to look at desserts or coffee. I plannned this as a birthday brunch for my husband and it was disappointing overall.
The best value and tastiest brunch that I've had in London.
All four of us had different dishes and each one was excellent.
Didn't have most of their juices and smoothies, waiter kept forgetting drinks we'd ordered, service was very slow and they forget some side dishes... food was ok but service let it down badly
Haven’t been for a couple of years so it was good to re-try. Their cutting edge style of food is no longer so cutting edge as others now concentrate on unusual spices, vegetables, ingredients, exotic influences and foraging but it is still very inspirational, inventive and modern.
My colleague’s hispi cabbage based starter was a tad bland but my Mexican style spiced prawns in an omelette was a good and unusual starter. My supreme of chicken in an unusually spiced sauce with mushrooms and other accompaniments main was light and excellent. Sides offered were interesting but not needed which cuts down the costs. Interesting desserts which we did not try (cutting down for January!) Shortish but good wine list with a good range. We had a good Albariño (Pazo Senorans) from Rias Baixas that I have had several times before - one of the best - but a tad overpriced at £50
The service was efficient but our waiter was not exactly charming or friendly. Could be improved. Previous visits had more charming service.
My double macchiato came with the cutest teddy bear picture dribbled on the top. Would add a picture but don’t have access from this iPad
Disappointing the food was tasteless; would not recommend
Friendly staff and a good table with lots of room and we could hear each other. Service was nice but an ingredient was not known and one side dish forgotten. Food was just about okay. The fish was overcooked and very salty and the squid ink ‘sauce’ starchy and flavourless. Heritage potatoes overcooked and lamped.
I took my mum for brunch and it was lovely, food stunning
Sadly the upstairs was closed but we had a nice table downstairs (avoided the refectory table!). The flavours were amazing - however the cut of steak was quite tough. Service was very good but impersonal.
The food was amazing!! So many flavours. Not boring basic classic brunch food. It has a middle eastern twang. Shoutout to the chicken spring rolls ❤️
Excellent breakfast options, but the room is very noisy and the staff are a bit perfunctory and lacking in warmth.
We enjoyed our meal. We were given an upstairs table in the window which I asked for. I love the area and the feel of eating in a Georgian?/Victorian house. The only complaints....another vegetarion option, one of my friends did not have much choice.
Very good place, but busy. Food good quality. If sitting near the front door in winter quite cold however, even with the curtain!
Really nice lunch - we opted for a selection of small plates and they were all delicious. I would recommend it to anyone wanting some interesting flavours and quality food.
I'd first come to the MP when Anna Hansen set it up - and my friend Bill Knott did the wine list. And I've been a few times since. It's held true to its fusion, Kiwi roots, but seems to have grown in confidence and swagger over the years. The smoked burrata salad was gorgeous - great courgettes - and the steak was to-die for. Yum. Plus a great place for a semi-formal business meeting (emphasis on the semi). AND I was sat next to a long-time collaborator, whose taste in restaurants I rate highly.
We had a lovely time and the breakfast was fantastic!
I found the decor a little stark and the lack of a lunch menu (brunch only on a Saturday) somewhat disappointing. However, the quality of the food was good and the service discreet and professional.
We came here last year for our anniversary and it was amazing.
The service was slow and the ambience was really loud. The food for that price should have been better!
Lamb was big but too overcooked. not medium rare as advertised, focaccia of the soup was too crunchy and hard.
Such a shame
Don’t think we will come back here!!
Good restaurant with good food. Service was a bit mixed but staff were pleasant. Not everything on the menu was available when requested.
Amazing bruch dishes & friendly service! Interesting combintation of ingredients and a lot fo choice.
Lovely service in a relaxed ambience, and the food was delicious. Great portions with interesting and unusual flavours. Would definitely come back!
Service very slow, could be due to several Christmas parties going on. Ran out of 2 dishes we ordered (menu is not that huge) and the wine we chose. Didn’t take into account meat cooking request (even though prompted by server that it could be cooked to order). Just generally underwhelming food and service.
Some of the food was awful. Miso doughtnuts were so overflavoured and salty to be inedible. The trout was cold but semi cooked and not cured as advertised and was actually quite vile we couldnt finish it. The pork had a tough bit of knuckle that I had to spit out.
The service was too familiar - I had half a bottle of wine and the waitress was really patronising like 'are you sure?' 'that's a lot!' and laughing which is kind of funny but also a bit weird. Plus they kept spilling things, taking plates before they were finished
