Lovely food - especially the rabbit terrine to start. Not sure about the nuts with the venison though. Steak looked great as did the lamb. Everyone really liked their food and I would go again.
They only do brunch menu on Sundays, despite website suggesting an All-day menu applies. If I wanted brunch, it looks amazing, but I didn't want an omelette at 4pm on a Sunday, and despite their kind efforts to accommodate, we had to leave to find hearty food elsewhere.
Lovely tasty fresh food at our brunch, delivered with friendly service.
really enjoyed the lamb and my colleague enjoyed the chicken. Starters were good and wine nice. Service was all right and I like the layout and style of the restaurant. I'll go again.
Food arrived late. Meat was under cooked. It showed that the plates of food were rushed!! Had the plates taken back. Lunch became very late. Lamb dish had bones! Not impressed. Not going back! Staff were friendly but lunch was a disaster. Shame really because it was on my list for some time and I was really looking forward it.
Very disappointed after last visits. Off day in the kitchen possibly. Would go again but a little more warily.
excellent tapas: artichoke hearts, shashima salmon, etc all goood and tasty
unnecessary music and nice but slow service
Great food. Eggs benedict was amazing!
V slow service - was there almost 2 hrs before mains arrived despite chasing several times. Food was fine though.
food was good but service was very slow, it took 1h+ to get our mains. we had starters as well, those took 30 - 45 min.
Went for brunch with friends. None of us were impressed by the main course. Everything was a bit bland. But the desserts were amazing!
Food was incredible but service was very slow!
Great food. Went for the breakfast specials. The donuts are awesome too. The bellini could do with a bit more punch
Lovely food in a nice setting, good cocktails in the bar at that front.
Great food, attentive staff, good wine suggestions too (off the menu(
Decent food in the heart of the City of London - efficient service, clean, nice atmosphere, convenient - what's not to like?
Very nice experience, lovely restaurant and not too busy / loud
Delicious breakfast before work. Have been here a number of times and also their Clerkenwell branch. The ricotta pancakes are AMAZING! So fluffy! Other breakfast dishes are also ace. Lovely staff , lovely floral arrangements and bright and airy restaurant.
I actually came twice during my short stay in London, not only because it was close to work/the hotel I stayed at, but also because the food was nice, the service was great and the prices were low. Over all a really good experience!
We had much higher expectations on our Sunday brunch experience at the Modern Pantry Finsbury Square, but we waited too long to get service, when the food arrived the chorizo on one dish was coal black and when we complained they brought a side of chorizo but left us to eat out of the dish with the burned food.
I did expect that they should have taken this instantly away and bring it back fresh and looking as it should. I really do not want to come across as picky, but when we paid £25 each for a brunch with out alcohol then I would expect for the whole experience to be equally worth it.
First time at this second Modern Pantry was interesting. It's much larger that the original with a slightly muddly layout. Good staff and the expected interesting menu.
I came to this restaurant for normal lunch with colleagues. Venue location is good, however they do not have enough waiter to serve hence you may have to be patience. Food quality is acceptable.
I was really disappointed with my visit. We waited 20 mins to get a hot drink, a further 25 mins for food which when delivered was cold, with partially cooked eggs, no one checked if we were ok, staff were obviously under pressure. We couldn’t get the bill even though we asked 3 times and the lady who brought it over eventually really looked like she was having a bad day.
Great service as usual, lovely environment for Sunday brunch
So tasty and a great venue to catch up with friends. Friendly service.
Lovely fresh food beautifully presented. Only issue is that the tables are very close together so not ideal for a romantic meal!
The restaurant looks is really gorgeous inside and the staff are very friendly and attentive. Our meal started off well with great wine and the delicious crab arrancini for starters. However, it all went sharply downhill when it came to our mains. We all ordered the rump steak but, even from the look of it when it arrived, I knew we were going to be disappointed. The steaks were very thin and looked limp, rather than nice and juicy. I asked for mine to be cooked rare but it was cooked all of the way through in some places and just slightly pink in others. The sides were basic potatoes and some greens, nothing to shout about at all. The potatoes had something like turmeric on them which made them taste really strange, in my opinion. Sadly, I didn't eat much of mine at all as I quickly lost my appetite. The waiter serving us was very gracious when he came to clear our plates and made the effort to find out why I wasn't happy with my meal. In the end, he took my meal off of the bill which was a very kind, goodwill gesture which I appreciated a lot. Overall, great setting and service but let down by the mains.
Interesting menu, excellent food and service. Highly recommended
Very good food - but we were the table they forgot and we waited ages to be fed. Waiting staff and rather mortified by it. Would give it another chance though.
Popped in for breakfast on a Sunday with a reservation - plenty of free tables throughout our meal, so definitely not a necessity (unlike the Farringdon branch, which was booked solid from Friday afternoon). Waitstaff were on point all meal, filling up water and being incredibly friendly. Coffee was good, and the food stellar - I went for cornbread with chorizo, eggs and salsa, my girlfriend had poached eggs, bacon, tomatoes and spinach. I doubt there's a better breakfast in London.
Small aside - although the original branch in Farringdon is virtually identical on a food front, this is a much airier, brighter space, with a lot more room.
Love the place.
The main food didn't live up to the menu. But the waitress was excellent and the bread was superb.
Nice selection of brunch items, which deviate from your typical items. Good for catch ups
A lovely lunch at Modern Pantry. The food is extremely creative and you wonder how some ingredients could possibly work together, yet they do.
We had a lovely table, excellent service and will most definitely be returning.
While the staff were attentive, the overall service was very slow. We were in there almost 2 hours and only had one course. The restaurant itself was not packed either, so we were quite surprised. Food was tasty though.
A really outstanding occasion. The chef must have, or should have, some of the best credentials available The flavours were really subtle, went well together and marked each meal as special. It is one of those menus that has one unable to resist trying each course, and eating the plate clean!
What a lovely place. Terrific atmosphere, terrific staff , terrific food. What more does one want
Great place for an unusual business lunch. Great combination of unusual flavours.
Lovely airy space with innovative and delicious food choices. We had breakfast and it was quiet but very relaxing.
Nice option for a business lunch. More formal than one of the wine bar chains but less so than the hotel restaurants in the area. Service needs improvement though. Greeting on arrival was less than friendly and service in general was a bit slow.
The staff are always super friendly and courteous. We have Sunday Brunch nearly every other week and it is always a pleasure, one gets the feeling one is part of the family in the interaction with the staff.
They will also take time to deal with small special requests like less chilli in the "Bloody Shame drink" or less sweet apple juice in the green smoothy. All this makes a big difference.
We cannot recommend them too much!
