The Morgan Arms
Saturday: 12:00-15:30 and 19:00 - 22:00
Sunday: 12:30 - 16:00 and 19:00 - 21:00
Good food in a cosy local pub. The Sunday lunches are definitely worth the trip
My fish and chips was OK. Fish batter burnt and therefore not tasty but my boyfriends flat iron chicken was very good. Always love this pub and ambience though and staff are lovely
By the time we got there (7.30pm) they'd sold out of a large proportion of the menu. The staff then seemed pretty non-plussed at the fact they had so little to offer us. All in all, a really disappointing experience.
Very good place for Sunday roast, very good quality/price food and selection of beers and wines. Highly recommended.
Great food and solid east end pub. One of my favourite pubs in London
Very good gastro pub food and good selection of wines.
Inexperienced staff, average food, shambles order. Asked for ‘optional’ tip to be taken off and we’re quite rudely challenged by the manager
The roast potatoes were sad, because old. Staff could show a greater interest in their guests as people, instead of income earners.
Great pub in the neighborhood - although there was no vegan Sunday roast on the menu the team at Morgan Arms made it happen and it was super tasty! Thanks and will be coming back more often for sure just make sure you add a regular vegan Sunday roast option permanently :)
Excellent food, good choice of beers. Friendly atmosphere: informal and with a buzz, but restrained enough to have a good conversation. Friendly waitering staff.
The food was amazing but the service was rather slow. We gave up on the desert because it took about 20 mins just for someone to ask us for our order- which I was gutted about because they looked amazing!
We live locally and often head to the Morgan Arms for dinner. The food is great (especially the vegetarian dishes) and they have a good selection of beers and wines. The staff are always very friendly and the atmosphere is always buzzy but not too loud. A great place for if you want a slightly snazzier pub experience.
I am a frequent visitor to MORGAN Arms, and I would generally recommend it, but not as based on last night’s experience. The food was fine, but the service was seriously careless. Just one example - if one of the guests requires a gluten free meal, something which has been communicated to the restaurant, you don’t bring to the table a dish to share - which in itself is gluten feee - with the bread sitting in top of it, contaminating everything underneath it! You also don’t turn the sound system to a blasting volume without advance notice, in the middle of the evening.
I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes. We booked last minute and hadn't been there before would definitely return.
2. Very noisy.
3. When I called the Morgan Arms to book a table for Sunday lunch they said i needed to book a week in advance, but when I contacted Opentable I got a table straight away.
Food is lovely and service fantastic! I love village pub feel!
Loved the food ! And it’s just down the road will be returning !
Very nice food and great pub in a great location. Billed as a gastro pub. The one waiter was a bit pushy with orders and just wanted to get the orders sorted out quick, interrupting us mid conversation. Go a bit annoying. Bar staff were great though. Great for food but not worth the mandatory service charge that was added to the bill.
The ambience and the waiter were good however the food was lukewarm and my friend had a hair on her plate. We decided to let it slide however as they were accommodating in our birthday celebrations bringing out candles and singing!
Had one of my worse dinning experiences here. This is our local pub and we are now too embarrassed to go there again.
It started with un-fresh fish starter (which me and my partner shared) it was putrid! Such bad produce. It included tiger prawns. They were slimy and tasted awful. We did tell staff and they said they would take it off the bill (which they didn’t actually do)
Main course. We both had roast beef with cauliflower cheese on the side. Everything was cold. The beef was fatty and greasy. They forgot the Gravy too. I think they also forgot to cook the cauliflower and put the cheese in. It was just hard cauliflower in cream and water. The whole thing wasn’t great.
By this point we just wanted to leave. We got the bill. It was just shy of £75. For a Sunday lunch for 2? £75. That included one drink each.
The waiter just gave me the card machine and then walked off. So to top off this disastrous experience I then had to take my own bill. Horrific service. The worst I think I have ever experienced.
I tried to reach out to the Morgan arms. I sent them an email. All I wanted was an acknowledgment that things were not right. And maybe an apology. I stated that I didn’t want financial gain or any gratuity from them. Just an apology. They ignored my email. Shocking and very unprofessional
Great service and a decent, large Sunday roast with meat bursting with flavour. Only criticism was the veg were a bit dull and could’ve used a bit of seasoning, but all in all a nice venue for a relaxed Sunday.
Excellent Sunday lunch as always - love this place. Many thanks.
Very good pub fare. Low key decoration in a lovely location on the edge of Tredegar Square. Not too full of hipsters, with a fairly mixed crowd on a Sunday.
Always a winner, been before and will definitely go again.
Recent trips to the Morgan have been less enjoyable than our previous experience. On this occasion half of the drinks came really late (after food had arrived) and we were told this was because the bar was busy - I feel if we're eating in the restaurant area we shouldn't be waiting in the same queue as the rest of the pub drinkers. And the white wine wasn't cold for our second visit in a row. Starters were delicious but 3 different main courses between us were all rather insipid which was a shame.
Though it has a seperate dining area, table service and above average prices there was no dedicated restaurant staff. Instead some one occasionally came over from behind the bar. Result was terrible, slow service, and we weren't the only table that thought this. Been there at a weekend with proper staffing and it was fine.
Great lunch at the Morgan Arms to celebrate graduation day for our daughter and friend and families. Good choices on the menu, food was very tasty and well presented. We've been here several times and the standard is consistently high. We look forward to the next time!
the waitress, sorry i don't remember her name but i remember that she play a guitar, was super lovely. food was great as well as the atmosphere. if i lived a little more local, this would definitely be a more of a regular.
Great Sunday lunch, great service and great setting
Back to the Morgan Arms after a break of a couple of years. Has it retained anything from when it was Evening Standard Pub of the Year? Well it has actually got better!
An attractive local gem that was lovely on a summer evening. A bit noisy but great ambiance and cheerful.
A good range of interesting beers.
We had supper there and it was excellent; better than my memories.
A little slice of Notting Hill come to Mile End - as my friend said!
Local pub, good service, nice atmosphere, reasonable price. Several seating indoor, outdoor of pub & part of restaurant outdoor seating as well.
We've been to the Morgan Arms before and really loved it. the staff especially are very welcoming and generous.
The dessert wasnt particularly great and we didnt finish it but having told the staff they were great and didnt charge us.
It a nice place ad we have had good food here but it seems variable, and at least one of the main dishes seemed overpriced for what it was - a vegetable dish.
Another visit to the Morgan, and the food was predictably great, with a lovely vibe for us and our new daughter on a Sunday afternoon, with a lot of families there with us. The service was great, and it's a lovely laid-back ambience. Couldn't recommend it more.
Very enjoyable atmosphere, when I turned up early, I was able to flexibly switch my table. Furthermore when we ordered food it came very quickly and tasted great.
Fabulous good and ambience, would definitely recommend for a leisurely Sunday lunch.
This was my second visit - I have been before and it was great, so I thought it would be worth another trip, and booked a table for Easter Monday evening. To be honest we were massively disappointed as we were told (just before they finally took our order) that 3 of the main dishes and 1 of the starters were unavailable. The lamb, the chicken, and the beef for mains, and the beef croquettes for starters.
As a table, we had planned on ordering every single one of those.
We thought that as we had booked a table well in advance that the kitchen would make sure that they had some food left to be served, as they knew we were coming in. However, planning obviously isn't their strong suit as they were also clearly understaffed in terms of waiting staff.
The staff were pleasant (and the pub itself is very nicely decorated etc), but not especially helpful and made lots of excuses . I appreciate that it was the end of a busy weekend, but again, I made a reservation so really they should have been prepared.
In the end, the ribs were dry, bland, and massively overpriced, while the burger was greasy and was not served with extra salad as I asked it to be (and was told that it could be). To top it all off, we ordered a side of green beans which weren't served until 15 minutes after the rest of the food, as we all finished eating. We were told by the waiter, "better late than never". To his credit, we were not charged for them, but it was still annoying.
I won't be going back for some time now, which is a shame as the first time I went (about a year ago) it was really very nice and the lamb was to die for. Don't go unless you check they have everything on the menu!
Been a number of times and always enjoyed it. This time though the new menu was a real let down. Starters and wine list still great but the main courses were very much pub grub and not very appealing.
We are locals and have been here on various occasions. Sadly the food has proven a let down once too often. My partner’s ribs (apparently slow cooked & flavoured with tamarind) arrived luke warm. They returned reheated and particularly unspectacular with no taste of the seasoning. My salad part of the meal was a large handful of leaves with nothing on them. It was just pretty average. We’ve had a couple of great meals there but not for some time. Nice waitress and we enjoyed our wine. If we go back it’ll be for a drink only.
Lovely staff, friendly smiles. a few more veggie dishes would be super. Lovely wine selection. Just around the corner and would highly recommend.
Arrived for our booking on Sunday evening to find they only had two choices left on the menu - tempura broccoli and a burger. Left and went to the Coburn Arms instead.
