The Muddy Duck - Hethe
Well knowledge staff and amazing variety of food on and off of the menu. Amazing dining and thoroughly recommended.
Great experience for our silver wedding anniversary!!! Staff were attentive, relaxed and very comfortable with advising us in the menu.
Staff very thoughtfully and unexpectedly brought some candles to the table when they found we were celebrating our anniversary.

The food and surroundings are both excellent. I was disappointed that so many items on the menu were sold out. Our table was seated at 7.45pm on a Saturday evening so it seemed strange that even the olives were gone. The staff were friendly but seemed very rushed.
I will definitely visit again.
Truly amazing food and location I would recommend this location to everyone
Lovely Sunday roast, great staff service and very friendly. Would definitely recommend to anyone
Welcoming atmosphere, excellent attentive waitress, good food in a lovely location. Perfect for a wedding anniversary meal *
A fantastic experience. Excellent food and service!
We enjoyed a lovely meal at The Muddy Duck. The service was excellent and it is a very relaxed atmosphere, people tend to linger over their meals.
The food was very good, the only criticism is that the Thai seafood curry was lacking in some of the authentic Thai flavours.
Would highly recommend for an occasion or relaxed meal.
We've been to The Muddy Duck a number of times over the years and have had varying experiences there. It seems to be cyclical and this time it all felt pretty mediocre. The menu was limited and presented quite differently to previous visits. Unfortunately we won't hurry back as there are so many great venues locally.
We had a lovely meal out with friends at The Muddy Duck. We all had something different to eat and thoroughly enjoyed our meals! The puddings were presented beautifully - especially the pavlova. Clean plates all round! I had the cheese board with a goats cheese, blue cheese and brie with delicious frozen grapes, figs and chutney. Perfect.
The staff and service was friendly, prompt and relaxed. Will be going back and recommend to all. Thank you for a lovely evening.
The Muddy Duck is exceptional and we’d have no hesitation in recommending- our only regret is that it’s not closer to home. Beautiful restaurant and buzzing busy atmosphere. We went on one of those ridiculously hot 31+ degrees, summer days but the staff remained focused & cheerful and produced divine food - the corned beef hash is to die for! Enjoy!
We waited 45 minutes for out first course. No apology. Cappuccino was ok, but the water cress had died a day early. Ordered some some bread and that took twenty minutes. No butter supplied. A further wait of 30 minutes before the main course was served. I ordered the fish and chips. Chips had obvious;y been under a hot lamp for far too long. Dry and tasted like paper. Fish was Haddock. Batter was fine, but the fish was full of water. Obviously not properly defrosted before frying. My wife had the curry. The rice was fine, but the curry left much to be desired. Would we eat there again? No
I love the Muddy Duck having been there many times before and had an excellent experience every time.
Unfortunately this time we were disappointed. We attended 15:30 on a Sunday having booked a table in advance, two of the three roast choices and the only vegetarian option (without fish) were no longer available.
A couple of my party ordered chips which were over cooked.
We asked our waitress for more information about one of the desserts which she went away and came back with an answer. When the dessert arrived it was not as she described so we had to send it away.
Visited for my wife’s birthday, everything was excellent. Amazing food beautifully cooked, served with care & attention to detail. Everywhere was clean and we had an amazing evening.
Will be back and recommend highly.
The Muddy Duck is a wonderful venue with an excellent menu and great service!
The Muddy Duck is a splendid venue for a special family event. Food service and ambiance are excellent and a change of menu every few weeks. Brilliant!
Beautiful food and restaurant, extremely attentive and approachable staff. They looked after us from start to finish. Highly recommended!
Amazing food and service. Lovely twists on dishes, purées to die for. Well thought out menu, and unusual delicious deserts. Staff were all courteous, friendly and knew their job well. They seemed to take pride in good service. Highly recommend.
Absolutely phenomenal experience on Saturday night with the Muddy Duck. We had an unexpected delay and called to push the sitting back 45 mins which was no problem. The food was outstanding, came highly recommended to us from friends and we’d certainly go back again. The hospitality was great, lovely atmosphere.
I’m afraid this venue has lost it’s sparkle!!
Not very well trained staff, dirty furniture in the bar area, Flies a problem. Food very average for the price.
White fish was probably not Cod as advised. It tasted like Pollock . Very disappointing not to have either Haddoock of Cod !!!
Coffee waa good.
Nearby wasp nest was a problem!!
Excellent food and great service
Wonderful location, helpful and friendly staff and stunning food
We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening and will definitely return
First vist and will definitely return, but whilst the starter was delicious, my meal was spoilt by the plaice. It was overcooked to the point that I struggled to separate the flesh from the spine and even accounting for the samphire, it was over salted to the point of almost being inedible.
Really lovely supper in great surroundings.
We enjoyed a very pleasant evening at the Muddy Duck. The food was excellent and good value. The service was attentive without being intrusive. Beer was excellent as was the Merlot. All in all, the pub runs as a well oiled machine. Thanks Richard and Micky
We loved it! Staff very friendly and welcoming. We went on Sunday to tried the Roast and it’s was delicious and can’t fault it. We tried the deserts totally worth it. We are going back soon to take our in laws visiting us.
Had a fabulous Sunday lunch, roast beef and all the trimmings. Our waitress was lovely, fairly new in her job but you would never know, she was delightful. We were seated next to two large tables and we were only two. Families with children, so was noisy.Having had three of our own I have no problem with this, nice to see families out together! I think the lack of sort furnishings however makes it more noisy in this situation? We had a great lunch and can't wait to come back! Thank you.
Lovely place with great staff, friendly atmosphere and good portions!
Also access to a really good play area for the kids which helped run off the pudding!
Researched on Trip Advisor, never eaten there before and was pleasantly surprised! Had a lovely afternoon with good wines and attentive, friendly service.
We have just had a really fantastic meal at The Mucky Duck - everything was perfect - absolutely faultless!
The roast beef dinner was absolutely wonderful, thoroughly enjoyed it. The service was ok, but a little on the slow side, particularly for a table near to us who had to wait ages for their meals!
Yet again, a wonderful evening! Delicious food, fantastic service, and perfect setting! Faultless!!
After only 3 visits, the MD has become our absolute favourite!!
Perfect for healthy options.
Lovely meal - only thing found was that there was a lot more choice on the starters than mains!
New to the area - my second visit, and to my amazement it topped the first!!
I couldn’t wait to take my parents who were visiting us.
The food was absolutely delicious, and we had a table held for us outside. It was the perfect summers evening, and we enjoyed our meal in the beautiful outdoor surroundings.
I loved the watermelon & halloumi salad which I had for the starter so much, I had another one with my main course (tuna).
I was most excited about the dessert!! The chocolate and peanut butter pud was absolutely scrumptious!!
The waitresses clearly share the love for their place of work.
The whole experience was superb, and we cannot wait to be back!!
The Sunday dinners are definitely calling us!!
Fab village setting, beautiful surroundings. Lovely bar and eating area, the barman was slick and our main waitress was so friendly and very professional, she was fully up to date with any questions we asked. The food was high quality, not only was it a picture of art it tasted fabulous.
Fantastic duck shepherds pie! Would also recommend the lamb courgettes. George at the bar was perfection.
A quaint place to eat interesting menu well executed. Great siting and relaxing ambience. Would thoroughly recomend.
It was superb!
