The Navigator’s traditional cooked breakfasts will more than whet the appetite as will the pub’s hugely popular seasonal lunch & dinner menus carefully created using locally sourced produce. A superb selection of real ales from nearby Upham Brewery are on offer alongside a fine choice of wines & champagnes.
The Navigator couldn’t be more accessible and is perfect for families, tourists and business travellers. The pub’s ‘Chart Room’ can accommodate 48 seated guests and proves hugely popular for weddings and business meetings.
A 20-minute drive from Southampton, 15 minutes from Southampton Airport and 2 miles from the M27 motorway, the pub also offers extensive free on-site parking.
Properly great Sunday lunch. Quality meat, massive Yorkshire’s and the new decor is lovely. The team looked after us really well and it was very reasonably priced. Thank you
We had a fantastic meal at the Navigator. Every course was perfect for each of our party of four. The ambience was fantastic, not too close to other diners to be intrusive and enough people around to make it ‘buzzing’
We all commented on how good the food was, and will definitely come again.
We had the most awful meal for my wife’s birthday she has been ill since . The food was worst than disgusting must be the worse we have ever had, the service was awful very disappointed .
This is my third visit to The Navigator in as many years. Since my last visit the restaurant has been "upgraded"; the layout seems more extensive and the menu has changed. It was undoubtedly busier than previous visits, but I had not previously been there on a Friday, and the noise level was unacceptable to my party; normal conversation was impossible. The service was extraordinarily slow considering the visible number of staff available - 20 minutes to be served with a straightforward drinks order (the only matter I specifically timed). We arrived just after 7 and left at 9.30 after having had two rounds of drinks and one main course each (I don't remember anyone having a starter or pudding). Everyone expressed their satisfaction with the food served.
One of the best Sunday roasts we have had in a long time.
Refurbishment of premises excellent
The room was very nice but cold
The food was good but my starter they left of part of it .
My mains they served me gravy instead of pepper sauce
Swift and polite service. Table games available so is a really nice place to go to for Sunday lunch with my 9year old sand play chess or ‘guess who’ while we wait and have high quality fresh food in a nice relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommend
Easy booking system and good food once we received it but service was pretty slow and long 7.15 booked table for and didn’t get food till 8.45 ! Although food was good this disappointed us as we had young and older family members who actually were over hungry and it was a special birthday treat too. Nice menu though and nice staff.
The food was very good but slightly limited as I am a coeliac. The service was excellent and the staff very helpful with my gluten free choices.
Stayed at the navigator and had a meal in the restaurant food and service was very good we all enjoyed our meals , only thing was my husband as for no onions and it came with onions in his gravy . But they offered him a desert on the house .
Great lunch, very tasty food in a lovely atmosphere.
Good food, very quiet in restaurant
Managed to get a table on a busy Bamk Holiday Saturday night. The restaurant area was comfortable and had a good atmosphere.
Lovely setting, very relaxed atmosphere. The staff are the perfect balance of friendly and professional. Amazing food, at a good value for what you receive. All in all we had a fabulous night.
Came from Dorset to meet someone ,found the Navigator quite easily and plenty of parking a available,
Food was excellent also service.
Pleasant atmosphere, very friendly staff. Food average, more restrictive menu at lunch time but reasonably priced.
I enjoyed my meal. The food was delicious as was the wine. I was served by several different people, some of whom were rather impersonal, didn't look me in the eye, told me to "enjoy" while they were already walking away from my table etc. But some were delightful. The descriptions of the wines were really difficult to read as they were printed in pale grey on cream paper.
Some great fresh ideas on food like the chilli with rice pudding and sorbet,Loved our dishes
A lovely meal with friendly & attentive service. The restaurant was quite empty while we were there.
Never had a bad experience at the Navigator hence we always go back for special evenings. I'm not a fish lover so I do struggle sometimes to find something on the menu that I like, but I generally don't go hungry there.
A great birthday lunch. With great food (would have been 5* but on of the sauces was over salted)
Staff never rush you, a totally relaxing lunch
Service was very slow and of poor quality, we had menus, used glasses and plates sat on our table for the duration of our stay. The waiting staff did not know the answers to questions, like the Gins they had, and forgot to bring things to the table, like a jug of water. The food was watery and tasteless, despite being expensive. We then waited 20 minutes for them to bring the card machine over, gave up and went to the bar to pay. Definitely would not recommend eating there.
A very warm welcome on arrival.
Delicious food & brilliant friendly service.
Great lunch, Thank you!
Hi Natalie, I'm glad to hear you enjoyed your lunch with us, I will pass your feedback back to the staff. Hope to see you again soon! Many Thanks Rachel Grant Supervisor
Food was lovely, service was great, menu was amended to show meals with dairy in so I could avoid for my allergy.
Thank you for your review, Chef prides himself on being accommodating for all allergens. Hope to see you again in the future. Many Thanks Rachel Grant Supervisor
Great meal at The Navigator. Delicious food with a good choice of menu. Our mains were on the pricey side at £18 (but they were delicious) but our son had fish and chips at £13.50 and it was also beautifully cooked and a very generous portion. Service was both efficient and very friendly. An enjoyable evening and will definitely return.
Can't fault the food or service. Only let down was the noise level. Tables very close together and with a wooden floor and some noisy tables it's very loud. Was glad to get out but the food was fabulous. Such a shame.
Extremely poor service. The pub was extremely quiet with only a small handful of diners and yet the waiting time for the food was completely unacceptable and had to be chased twice. There were no staff attending our table making sure all was in order. In terms of the food, the starters were lovely but unfortunately the mains were very much not.
All in all not a great experience and not one we will be repeating.
Had to wait over 30 mins for our dinner (having booked a table for 2 for 19:15 in advance). Not a major issue but it would have been nicer if we hand't had to. Food good, reasonable ambient and waitress very pleasant (and apologetic). Been to the Navigator before and will go back again but I thought you may want to know about the event.
Good service, lovely quality food and they catered very well for a gluten free diet. They took a menu to the chef who was able to adjust most of the menu options to be gluten free.
For my birthday was lovely, food, staff everything a+
Food average and service took an age and had to wait an age for the wine list which we had to nag for.
We did feel the guy in charge was very accommodating.
Fantastic breakfast. Good amount of food, really well cooked. Great service. Well worth a visit!
Super Duper :-)
We liked it. Limited menu choice, but we had been before so knew what to expect. Pleasant staff.
Service was really slow. We were seated for an hour - and had to ask where our order was. Other tables had to cancel orders as they need to leave as this was over a lunchtime period.
The food was ok although my dining partner had fish and chips which arrived with about six chips on the plate.
Unlikely to return due to the slow service issue.
Amazing food and really friendly staff , absolutely flawless
Lovely meal out with friends at this comfortable gastro pub which is in a great location opposite a marina. The pub has a good ambience and is spacious and tastefully decoarted. Noise level is just right. Food is excellent, although quite pricey. Good choice of ales and friendly staff (apart from one young waiter).
Really enjoyed the food and ambiance of the place, the waitress was really helpful, even offering to de-tail the prawns for one of our guests! Hot plates and hot food, one of my pet hates is cold plates and food. On this occasion this was a works event, but will certainly be going back again whether for work or private.
Staff are always friendly and accommodating. Food delicious and very well presented.
I was a little disappointed with the food in relation to how much it cost. It seems like standard pub fare at rather inflated restaurant prices. One of our party ordered the baked camembert which was served with strips of overgriddled bread (very blackened/burnt on one or both sides) which were also barely warm. The waitress was lovely & brought a fresh batch of nicely toasted hot strips. My fishcake was rather dry & uninspiring. Where we were sat in the restaurant was under a bunch of spotlights, so it was really bright, rather spoiling the ambience for an evening meal. Everything seemed overpriced, so won't be in a rush to come back.
