Sundays - Roasts!
One of my favourite places, to enjoy a nice meal at great prices! But if don’t wanna eat, that’s ok. They have a great selection of board games, so you can just have a few drinks play games.
We were here for a Christmas do and had a lovely evening - it's a very buzzy venue but that suited us fine. Food is standard pub fare but not extortionate and they do have their our pizza oven which is a nice addition.
Yummy good and really helpful staff who want to make your experience as enjoyable as possible.
Great that they do student discounts too!
we took a different table bcs the requested one was not selected. seemed to be extra loud and cold though, but the pizzas are great.
Absolutely one of the best roasts I’ve ever had! Perfect!! Everything from the service to the food to the atmosphere. Will be coming again!!
Lovely space for a catch up - it is loud and energetic, but has a nice atmosphere. Decent range of food and great pizza. Toilets were a bit dirty, though, which could put people off.
Pizza was flavourless but everyone else seemed to enjoy their meals (not pizza)
I do love this pub -chilled, good food, good selection on draught, nice decor - they have a cinema night on Sundays and show the rugby in a non-take-over way...and a pizza oven! BUT I think it's a shame they've reduced their menu so much (and v few descriptions - what's included in a vegan roast?). I'm vegetarian not vegan, and it's eat vegan or not at all. And the service has dipped....on Sunday we ordered 4 meals together - all came out at different times with no apology so I was 1/2 way through my roast before boyfriend's burger arrived....and we saw it sat there for ages. However - the snarky vegan barman aside - this pub is a treat
Booked it for my birthday drinks, was sweet as, thanks for giving me a nice big table bigger than what I asked for!
Great food. Service was a touch slow but friendly.
not a very good experience, food was dry. the meat was overcook, vegetables raw
Female staff working at this restaurant are terribly unkind.
Had a really great night at New Cross House for my birthday, the staff were lovely, attentive and kind. The food was delicious and came all at the same time. Great space and I always love spending an evening at the New Cross House
Food was good, service was quite long though. Did enjoy my graduation meal, thank you
We wanted to try the Bottomless Brunch after first seeing it advertised on a chalkboard outside. It has changed from £10 to £15 (not yet reflected on the website) but apparently you now also get longer to take advantage of it - 1.5 hours.
I opted for mimosas and my boyfriend bloody marys. The staff were incredibly friendly and were attentive with topping up our glasses (most of the time). I was lucky enough to be able to order off the lunch menu rather than brunch and thoroughly enjoyed my sweet potato & black bean burger - delicious and the fries with it were seasoned very nicely with a lot of spice. I would have scored higher for the food except that my boyfriend's breakfast was a little light on for the price - 1 rasher of bacon and no hash but instead potato straws, that were cold!
We took full advantage of the bottomless brunch and left very satisfied.
Food was okay service was terrible. We were a table of 8 that booked ahead. When we arrived we were seated on our booked table then pretty much left completely by watiers. Had to repeatedly walk up to the bar to gain any kind of table service. Once we finished our meal plates were not cleared for 20mins then when we started stacking them ourselves they were finally cleared. Then the waiters/waitresses were too quick to ask us for our desert orders even though we wanted them. Then when we ordered desert the options were significantly reduced from the menu. All in all it was a terrible experience for what was meant to be a pleasant get totgether/ catch-up for friends before the Christmas break!
We will certainly not be recommending the pub to any of our friends in the local area!
Great lunch time offer with the main and drink for £6.50. Really festive in there at the moment too and got super busy so booking was definitely a smart move! Good food and quick service.
Great vibe, nice decor, good lighting & good music. Great beer selection. Service was ok & food was a little disappointing.
Decent food but service iffy from one of the staff members
Go here for a drink, not food. Pizza was ok but everything else was poor and overpriced. The nachos tasted like they'd been fried in very overused oil and were inedible. They were also missing toppings which I had to remind them of. Plenty of other, better places nearby.
Friendly, helpful staff who made our family get together really easy and fun. I also like the beer garden in summer.
Didn't tell us they were closed due to gas leak.
A lovely looking pub, great for drinks with friends but the menu has changed a lot in the last year so do check it before you go. I didnt and it's not to my taste. Not very good for healthy or veggie options now.
I booked a table for three at 7pm on Wednesday September 7. When we turned up, the restaurant was closed for refurbishment. I don't understand how Open Tables made a booking to a place that was not open. This was annoying, and surely avoidable? If I'd gone old school and phoned, this would not have happened.
Great for Sunday Lunch, with fantastic vibes and equally great service
Really nice pub, great pizzas. Other food wasn't quite up to the standard of the pizzas but still decent fare. Service of food was really quick, bar was a little slow.
Excellent friendly service, good pub food and atmosphere. Used it to meet up with family prior to a special event. Nice relaxed atmosphere, flexible and responsive service.
I had family down and took them here for dinner. The staff were great and the food was decent for the price. I'd pop back for sure :)
The music is so loud the only way to communicate is to shout at them which is extremely wearing after a couple of hours. We had a cosy booth but only the person directly next to you could hear what you said so no general chat was possible and people at the ends of the table were often left out.
Why do restaurants do this???? The place for loud music is a club not somewhere people gather to eat and chat.
Will never go back.
First impression was the smell ... stale beer (not very nice when you are going to eat). The place was spacious and light. Food was adequate and so was the service. I'd probably go back to have a drink but I don't think I'll eat there again.
Nice pub, friendly staff and the food was excellent. Good value and tasty Pork Belly roast, and excellent selection of beers on both keg and cask. First time visiting here, and I can see why it rates 4+ stars on Google. Will definitely come back again.
As on previous occasions, we found the food here to be up to a good standard, wholesome and reasonably priced. But we were confused by the service: the last time we were here, there was waiter/waitress service but this time it seemed we were expected to place our orders at the bar first? Perhaps they were just busy...
This was a venue chosen by my husband for my birthday. The venue was bright and buzzing. There were plenty of choices for our children ranging from 12years to 15years. Food were reasonable priced and enjoyable. My eldest commented on the venue and said "can we come back here again for meals". My children are generally quite fussy and we do eat out ALWAYS on special occasion, birthdays, promotions, anniversaries, good exam results etc.
We did find that once were seated and drinks were order, we felt we were left for a while and I am hoping this was a one off , once we did managed to get one of the staffs attention the service we received was brilliant and it did not distract us from the lovely Sunday lunch we all had.
I must say as a vegetarian there were ample choices which is a change from the normal 'one' option you have when out for a meal generally.
Lovely place to eat and I can imagine it would e a good place for a business meeting.
I am not sure whether traditional afternoon tea is served here, but would be a great idea. We often do an afternoon tea, but they are usually held in pricey restaurants in the City.
Amazing roast dinner!
This is a nice place. I've come several times over the past 2 two years and whenever I've had food its been the same. The food is good, specially the Sunday Roast.
The staff are polite, but unfortunately don't pay much attention to the tables. Therefore one has to wait for a long time for your order to be taken, or to request anything. The other issue is that all tables are waited by all the staff on site, contrary to what you might think this means a very slow overall service. In addition, I was served something I'm allergic to, even though I had mention this and the waiter had checked the ingredients.
Top Beef lunch. They even gave me extra Crackling!
Absolutely delicious food, lovely staff and pleasant atmosphere, I'd definitely recommend this pub to all!
Great atmosphere even for a Sunday afternoon, the service and food were great.
I was meeting a friend from out of town so booked a table to be on the safe side. Despite only being two of us we had the luxury of a booth to ourselves.
The menu offered the kind of food you want in the pub without being predictable or over-ambitious - more interesting and made you think.
The staff were great - really attentive but not pushy.
The atmosphere was more pub than restaurant which felt much more relaxed than your usual 'gastro-pub'.
The food was lovely, all 3 of us really enjoyed our choices. The service was was good although once the food was served we were left to go to the bar for drinks - but being in a pub this didn't feel unreasonable. It was quite a noisy pub to have dinner in but that didn't spoil the evening.
Overall an experience I would definitely repeat.
